[QUOTE="PAL360"]A game doesnt have to be the best in all areas to be considered the graphics king. Overall, Red Dead Redemption is the best looking game i have ever seen on a console and im sure it doesnt have the best lightning, shadows, textures, etc...PAL360

Then it is not graphics king, is just an opinion

Check this out

That is graphics king, in my opinion

Im not questioning Alan Wake graphics quality. It looks amazing but going by your logic it couldnt be considered the graphics king since the textures are far from the best.

That is my point all along, none of the two can be called graphics king

I think Uncharted 2 looks better, but like you say its very small-scale with fake backdrops.

Dont bother, 99.99% of people that "comment" on Alan Wake scale and graphics have never actually played it

And if that was not enough, they did not even bother visiting youtube to see how it is first

Ok, my point was to prove that Uncharted 2 cant be called overall graphics king over Alan Wake, we all can have anopinion of course, that is a given

[QUOTE="johny300"]uncharted 2 is a 20 hours of gameplay for 60$ and alan wake is a 7 hours gameplay for 60$. and U2 has better visuales and more detailed than alan wake and alan wake has bad lip sync and uncharted has the best lip synq in video games(see the cutscenes) and uncharted 2 has been in the making for 2 years and alan wake is 5 and half years. and has the score of 9.5 at gamespot and 96 on metacritic and for alan wake 8.5 on gamespot and metacritic ?. and U2 has replay value.SpinoRaptor24

It's not 7 hours. It's far more than that with more reasons to play through again. And why bring up their development time? U2 was a sequel, Alan wake was a new IP. Naughty Dog a had the engine ready :?

Yeah a new IP that took 5 years to make!!

I've said this before, there are factors you need to consider. Remedy is a small team. Furthermore they always take years to develop their games. The end results are great games.

I wouldn't really draw conclusions over some youtube videos. Shrubs and other forms of vegetation definitely do move when he walks through them. And they are affected by other factors such as weather.

I dont like shooters much, so i got bored of it really fast, especially because is linear and limited, and never cared for the story or like the art in it

Gears is definatly not graphics king either, there is no graphics king on consoles, simply because you alwys have to sacrifice something, like scale or texture quality or whatever

Only Crysis mods on a super unbelievable PC can be called king, and be the truth

Well, maybe you should comment on the footprints on the ground too, i dont think they are next gen enough, they only represent 10% of the actual shoe print, which brings Alan Wake to pac man graphics level i suppose

It's just something I noticed. I know that in no way shape or form does it make the game any better or less. It was merely an observation I made while watching the video. Some forms of vegetation do move when he walks through them, but I noticed the grass didn't. The only reason I brought it up was because the TC was making it out like it was some state of the art, never been done before (aside from Crysis) foliage model.

It is hands down the best i have seen on consoles, real forests, weather affects everything, the hero affects most of it, thick and not a grass blade or treeper mile

Should I start arguing that the snow capped mountains in Nepal on Uncharted 2 blow away the snow capped mountains in Nepal on Alan Wake because Alan Wake does not have them?

Guess what, Uncharted 2 doesn't take place in a thick American mid-west forest, so why do you keep comparing Uncharted 2's lack of thick forest to Alan Wake's?

Should I start arguing that the snow capped mountains in Nepal on Uncharted 2 blow away the snow capped mountains in Nepal on Alan Wake because Alan Wake does not have them?

BPoole96

If you do, it will be to no avail. I did on the last page and he ignored me. He even ignored my prototype reasons for why Prototype is the best looking game this gen.

lol I saw those. No way to refute those hardcore facts on Prototype being graphics king

I has best spikes in a game too, it must be king

Prototype is not the best looking game this gen and infamous story gameplay and graphics are better than peototype.

Uncharted 2 was in tiny corridors? Really you must have played a different version than I played. Nepal level says hihiryu3
Exactly. Also, the train level was incredible!

The train was on rails, and totally a tiny path

The below videos show some vast AW areas, can you post a U2 video to match that ? Where you can actually walk on the area, not just train thorugh it

So, can we see just how expansive Nepal level is ? Link ?

You can't deny Alan Wake looks near perfect. I mean, yeah...sub HD, lower than hyped graphics, yada yada, but for what the visuals offer, I can say it's insanely detailed and some locations are breathtaking. Heck, it's not as linear as Uncharted 2, but looks nearly as good and it's got a lot more space to move around in ;). Great, now I'm depressed I'm never going to play this game...:P

TC had alan wake not been a 360 exclusive would you go to these lengths to prove its graphics are so good? if you are gaming for graphics play both on a 50 inch HDTV then come back and say sorry to system wars for wasting their time. :D

[QUOTE="sts106mat"]it really is a brilliant looking game. its only problem is its length, though 2 playthroughs are required for completionists, but on the plus side the already confirmed two DLC episodes, the first of which will be free if you bought the game new not used. however as a story driven game, its the perfect length for the story its telling. it never feels like your being dragged along on a pointless mission, theres always a real sense of purpose. in a dark room, on the HARD difficulty, this game is a tense atmospheric experience. i can only really compare it to the first few hours of bioshock or a really gripping TV drama. if you have a 360 and like story based games, this is a great choice. it is what it says on the box. " psychological thriller" note it doesn't say "horror" its got thrills alright. only other minor gripe is that the game is too easy on the normal difficulty, though it does come in handy as it makes it easier to find the coffee thermoses / chests on your mop up playthrough. the graphics are definitely some of the best on 360, the lighting and effects (cant believe no-ones mentioned how good the Flares look when held) are second to none.

Yes i forgot about the flares they are very good.
