I have no words for this. lol
Now watch as people will defend this game only to find out how dissapointing it will be.
Not suprised. That picture is so blurry it is unreal. The truck stands out the most.millerlight89yeah, i suspected something was wrong the IQ just seemed dull.
I love it when people use 500X zoom.
Like it really matters.
I mean do you play games with a magnifying glass?
well, the guy who posted the pics does stuff for DF sometimes so I can expect they are good enough and legit.Errr i am going to assume that is a crappy off screen or a terrible camera because i dont remember the game looking so horrible. Also who cares if its sub HD, if it keeps the performance up then go for it.

.The game is 720p. Those screenshots are based off footage captured at 960x540 like cocorenut pointed out, of course there will be some downsampling involved. As has said before Videogameszone and Gamepro both released footage without approval and due to the fact that we don't know how many compressions their videos went through or what process they took it's best not to use those videos as sources.
[QUOTE="millerlight89"]Not suprised. That picture is so blurry it is unreal. The truck stands out the most.killzowned24yeah, i suspected something was wrong the IQ just seemed dull. Yea, I had to double check to see if my contacts were still in, I had thought I removed them when I first looked at that picture. Then I noticed it was the game. This game was really promising back in the earlier days, not so much to me now.
Hold up. The video capture software used by that website only captures at 960x540 for HD video. It downsamples and then upscales back up for the video itself. There is data loss, and thus I believe, the native resolution would not be preserved.
Maybe I am wrong, but I don't see how the native resolution could be preserved when downsampling is involved for video capture...
Just saying.
I don't think I care... was never going to play the game for the graphics anyhow.
DarkLink77
i doubt a lower res will in any way make the game worse obviously
Sorry to stop the hate train so early, but this is based on screengrabs from the first 20 minutes videos posted at videogameszone.de, which was downsampled to 960x540 to avoid massive latency.
AW still supposedly runs at 720p

Oh well thats kind of dissapointing, the only thing that looks good is alan wakes jaket. Either way should still be a great game, just maybe not graphics kind like so many people have been saying recently.

That's what I remember hearing. People were claiming 4x AA, and 720p, so I was kinda surprised...

I am not questioning his pixel count(it is accurate). I am questioning the source images. Bad source images = inaccurate count. Wait until someone from Beyond 3D or Digital Foundry gets a copy or direct images that are simple buffergrabs. Until then, this isn't confirmed, because to put it simply, this isn't a very good source as far as the images go. Remedy is pissed because this website did not get permission to post the videos, nor did they follow any of Remedy's guidelines for video compression and capture.
Hmm, maybe someone should ask the guy where then is a direct video to check.Sorry to stop the hate train so early, but this is based on screengrabs from the first 20 minutes videos posted at videogameszone.de, which was downsampled to 960x540 to avoid massive latency.

Well it most certainly is 4xMSAA. The only thing in question is the actual resolution. And Remedy has said several times already that the game is 720p natively. The source of these images is just terrible though.
[QUOTE="soapandbubbles"]heres is the DIRECT quote from the manager..NOT programmers! http://forum.alanwake.com/showpost.php?p=68521&postcount=10 I still think the game is running sub HD but upscaled to 720p. makes sense for what AW is trying to achieve from a tech stand point. millerlight89Well no one that is involved with this game is going to advertise the game as sub HD.
Didn't Bungie openly say Halo 3 was sub HD because of its HDR?

Well considering that 4xMSAA is a descent AA solution, the game should not be so jaggies. That then leads me to believe even more that it is indeed a low resolution. The higher the resolution the less AA is needed. BTW do you really think Remedy is going to advertise this as a sub HD game? If I was a betting man I would bet that it is in fact the case, considering the blur that is going on.Well no one that is involved with this game is going to advertise the game as sub HD.[QUOTE="millerlight89"][QUOTE="soapandbubbles"]heres is the DIRECT quote from the manager..NOT programmers! http://forum.alanwake.com/showpost.php?p=68521&postcount=10 I still think the game is running sub HD but upscaled to 720p. makes sense for what AW is trying to achieve from a tech stand point. The higher the resolution the less AA is needed. BTW do you really think Remedy is going to advertise this as a sub HD game? If I was a betting man I would bet that it is in fact the case, considering the blur that is going on.Remedy has been extremely honest about their tech from the start, explaining what they are doing, how they are doing it, and why they are doing it.
They confirmed the "pre-rendered cutscenes thing" when most people believed that it was all real-time. They could have danced around the word pre-rendered and said "In-engine(which the cutscenes are)" just like every other developer on the planet, but they instead took the route of sitting down saying "these are pre-rendered videos and here is the list of reasons why we decided to go with pre-rendered cutscenes." So, sorry, your explanation doesn't really fit Remedy. Honestly, native resolution doesn't have any impact on the game and is a much less significant issue than "pre-rendered cutscenes" would be, so why would they be absolutely transparent about that but then lie about this? Just explain how that would logically work.
