The DEVS are asleep. It is 9:00 AM in Finland. Most of them are probably just now getting up. And when this whole thing started, pretty much all of them would have been asleep. ADM doesn't sleep cause he is a freak, but the other devs do sleep.

Also, ADM is employed by Remedy as the Community Manager. He is part of the team and would therefore know this stuff.

Remedy has been extremely honest about their tech from the start, explaining what they are doing, how they are doing it, and why they are doing it.

They confirmed the "pre-rendered cutscenes thing" when most people believed that it was all real-time. They could have danced around the word pre-rendered and said "In-engine(which the cutscenes are)" just like every other developer on the planet, but they instead took the route of sitting down saying "these are pre-rendered videos and here is the list of reasons why we decided to go with pre-rendered cutscenes." So, sorry, your explanation doesn't really fit Remedy. Honestly, native resolution doesn't have any impact on the game and is a much less significant issue than "pre-rendered cutscenes" would be, so why would they be absolutely transparent about that but then lie about this? Just explain how that would logically work.

You mentioned Bungie being "trustworthy" because they have no reason to lie... Well, Remedy has no reason to lie. Game resolution has nothing to do with sales or the quality of a game. And it only loosely has to do with the graphics. And when Remedy has already been perfectly honest about there tech thus far, why would they start lying about resolution?

Well, it looks like this read will be a 10+ pager dispite the CM proving (what none-fanboys already know) that those where low-rez sreen grabs and those pictures do not represent what the game actually looks like.

Sorry to stop the hate train so early, but this is based on screengrabs from the first 20 minutes videos posted at videogameszone.de, which was downsampled to 960x540 to avoid massive latency.

AW still supposedly runs at 720p

Why would they lie about it? Huh? What does it even matter to them? I mean, there have been so many games that are sub-720p already that it isn't really a dealbreaker. Hell, the best selling games are below 720p... The only thing that would make it matter is a fanboy war that Remedy doesn't care about in the slightest. The reason the people on Beyond3D do it has absolutely nothing to do with fanboyism(at least not initially), but instead to understand the rendering techniques and tricks that various devs are using. With a lot of Xbox 360 games, they have been sub-720p because of how they were using the eDRAM. Remedy is using the eDRAM a bit differently.

When a REAL pixel count comes out, devs stop trying to maneuver their wording around it. They just admit it. IW admitted CoD4. Bungie admitted Halo 3. Ubisoft admitted SC:C... Not a big deal. HOWEVER, in this case, the pixel count happens to be inaccurate and they are therefore responding.

It's late and I'm still a bit tipsy, what am I missing here?

They did screengrab from the video instead of from the game itself. And their video encoding is at 960x540. As such, there is data loss and there is no way you can possibly judge native resolution based on the video.

Yeah. They aren't representative of the actual product. Remedy never signed off on the videos getting posted, and none of Remedy's guidelines for encoding and video capture were followed... It just isn't a good source. Period.
