I want to get pumped up about Kinect, I really do, but the highest rated game for it is only an 86% on Gamerankings.com.

Yeah, 86% is a good score, but that's the best score of any game released thus far for it. To add insult to injury, that game is a dance game.

I'm open minded when it comes to the Kinect, but I'm not gonna get the thing with all the garbage shovelware that's out on it. I want games to play.

At least the Wii has great games to play, like Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Trilogy. What does Kinect have?

Lets put the fanboyism aside here and think for a minute, folks. How many of these upcoming Kinect games have a chance? I'm sure some of them have a chance, but they're not all gonna be AAAAE titles. If I were a betting man, I would predict that almost all of them fail critically. They will probably be successful commercially, though.

[QUOTE="LastRambo341"][QUOTE="Heil68"] The Haunt- The Bad It's all rather shallow, Controls are occasionally awkward and unresponsive. Controls can be frustrating at times, however. They occasionally flake out, with the flashlight refusing to properly track your hand movements. You can get stuck on scenery, which forces restarts to get going again. This can lose you a lot of progress because the game only autosaves at the end of levels. Walking can be annoying as well. You have to practically goose-step to make sure that the Kinect tracks you properly. And quick movements during action sequences don't always register. If you duck or dodge too soon or emphasize the movement too much or too little, you wind up getting smacked by your spectral foes. Yea, works real well..fuking gatbage..lol bhahahahahaHeil68
Nice copy-paste

From the GS review..Think I would buy that garbage let alone Kinect? lolno So an impartial review says the controls aren't perfect and sucks a big fat dick at times. Priceless.

ITS XBLA and pretty funny also for a casual ghost type of game, but seriously actually it works okay(not many games nails controls perfect anyway, what are you tryin to achieve dude seriously).. really cant see whats so priceless about that, if that somehow helps you, i would say get out and get a drink or something ? :o

The problem with Kinect is that not everyone gets the same experience, based on how it is calibrated

Many reviews state that controls work fine, so how about those ? Are they lying or something ?

Likes + Cute and humorous
+ Point and Click sensibility

Also it got 7.5/10 in Gamespot, which is same as Infamous 2, Fable 3, Zelda SS etc.

Plus, this is a serious question so I want a serious answer...

Is Kinect limited to on rails? For example, is that Fable Journey game on rails?

And if the games aren't all on rails, how do you go about moving around using the Kinect?

Like, how would you play Grand Theft Auto 4 or Halo 4 using the Kinect as the controller?

LoosingEnds seems to be the expert on Kinect around here, so maybe he knows?

You mean Fable Jounrey...right? It's on rails, but PM claims otherwise. Not all Kinect games are, but for example, Rise of Nightmares wasn't, but it didn't work that well, I heard.

I edited my post to say Fable Journey.

So wait, Rise of Nightmares wasn't on rails? How did you get the character to move around using the Kinect? I seriously am curious and want to know, because I can't even use my imagination and think of a way to make that possible.

I'm watching the video review on Rise of Nightmares right now. I seriously want to know how you move around in a game using Kinect. That's like the one thing that makes me dislike it as a controller.

Mind you I haven't played the game, bbut this is from the GS review "You use your body to navigate the corridors and courtyards of Viktor's estate. Turning your torso left and right makes Josh do the same, and walking is a simple matter of putting one foot forward."

I would use a power sprayer for it all and use different tips for different areas. Works great.

Wow.

For a Kinect experience that isn't limited to on-rails, this is what you have to look forward to.

Kinect can be used in combination with a game pad. You can't do any of the more grotesque movements, but it can still be useful.

My point is that a controller apparatus is broken if it can't even serve the simple purposes of allowing you to move your character from point A to point B, with minimal frustration.

I mean, games have been able to do that forever. On the NES, you could get Mario to the flagpole with no frustrations, just precise controls. Watch that Rise of Nightmares video review. It is the first game that takes Kinect off rails, and you be the judge of the performance. You could not PAY me to play a game off rails using that controller.

Exactly my friend ....different tools for different jobs ....kinect is not the end all and be all of controller land ...nobody ever claimed it was..but incredibly enough some people enjoy it I gave up a long time ago expecting others to be as cynical as myself....there is no conspiracy or secret kinect police agents forcing the uneducated and downtrodden masses to buy it ...can you imagine , some people buy it cause they like it...almost blasphemy right???

Indeed, plus it can have a million uses in pad games as well, like interacting with items in 3D etc

It is not going to replace pad, but can definatly add extra immersion and interaction with game worlds in a huge way, in core games mainly

The act of moving around works, but it looks very frustrating and limited.

I have no doubt that developers will improve on it, but as it stands right now, Rise of Nightmares is in fact the best representation of what Kinect has to offer when it comes to an off-rail experience.

I honestly don't think games will be able to dramatically improve on it, because the foundation of Kinect is just so limiting when it comes to an off rail experience.

This hands down always has been and always will be my number 1 problem with Kinect. I have a wait and see approach, and I'd love to be proved wrong, but I'm not gonna just assume that developers will be able to provide a decent off rail experience, I wanna see proof in front of my eyes. I honestly don't see how it is possible to create a fluid off rail experience using Kinect that is of the same precision as a controller.

Well, for me slow downs while fighting bosses is more citical than better sound effects, most definatly

PS3 has slow downs while in combat, that is the worst thing that could happen to a game imo, far worst than a bit bigger sound compression for sure

loosingENDS

both versions have slowdown during combat. the difference, as stated by the source you used, is negligible.

They said PS3 drops to 10fps during boss fights when physics are involved, so that is not negligible at all, it is crucial

they, your source, said the difference was negligible and that the 360 version slowed down too. your source.

They also said that it droped way more on PS3, which is not negligible at all to me

Maybe to them that did not actually care for the gameplay

I have a wait and see approach. I'm not all about the what ifs and maybes. I have to see it to believe it.

I have no doubt that it will improve, because as far as I'm concerned, it has nowhere to go but up considering how atrocious it looks right now.

Not to mention, don't you think it is kind of insulting in a way to the Kinect device to only implement it into a game like Mass Effect through ways of voice commands? I mean, if that isn't a sign that the device is incapable, I don't know what is.

Not to mention, don't you think it is kind of insulting in a way to the Kinect device to only implement it into a game like Mass Effect through ways of voice commands? I mean, if that isn't a sign that the device is incapable, I don't know what is.

I dont think there was anything artocious about Gunstringer and Haunt, both were great games really

they, your source, said the difference was negligible and that the 360 version slowed down too. your source.

loosingENDS

They also said that it droped way more on PS3, which is not negligible at all to me

Maybe to them that did not actually care for the gameplay

no they didn't. "During the boss fight demonstrated in the video below, however, destruction physics on the asylum columns have a dramatic impact on both consoles, with the PS3 version even nose-diving down to10FPS for a spell."

they are your source, dude. use them or don't use them. it says both frame rates take a dramatic hit but only specifically mention the ps3's fps. they say nothing specific about the 360's fps but later on decide that the difference is negligible. you did this with the witcher 2. your very own source said the game had non linear gameplay but you kept saying they were wrong while continuing to use them as a source for your other rumors.

This is the first thread I've ever read by LoosingEnds, but no wonder everyone is always saying funny things about him.

I mean, who honestly uses sources with the intention to support their argument when in fact the source contradicts their argument?

Does he even read the sources he uses?

:P

.

.

RyseKINECT(still anexclusive)

Fable JourneyKINECT(still anexclusive)

Crimson DraconKINECT(still anexclusive)

Halo 4 lolanotherhaloGreat series(exclusive)

Dust Elysian TaleXBLA(Still anexclusive)

HauntKINECT(Still anexclusive)

Star WarsKINECT(Still anexclusive)

Steel BatallionKINECT(Still anexclusive)

Battleblock TheaterXBLA(Still anexclusive)

BloogforgeXBLA(Still anexclusive)

Clas4 Zombi MMO(exclusive!)

Diabolical PitchKINECT(Still... Exclusive)

HybridXBLA(exclusive)

Trials EvolutionXBLA(exclusive...)

Alan Wake American NightmareXBLA(exclusive) Have to note here, i'm sure that a pc port will come this year.

Dead LightXBLA(...Exclusive)

Spelunky XBLA (exclusive!)

.

PC/360 only games (not on other consoles)These are already out on PC so who the hell cares if 360 gets it a year late - I do selfish, some people don't play alot or none games on pc.

Witcher 2 (PC/360 only)

FEZ (PC/360 only)

Minecraft (PC/360 only)

Owlboy (PC/360 only)

Capsized (PC/360 only)

.

PS3/360 only games (not on PC)4 games, PC is really owning the 360 here - PC owned every console every year, even the ps3.

FF13-2 (PS3/360 only)

Dragon Dogma (PS3/360 only)

Asura's Wrath (PS3/360 only)

Overstrike (PS3/360 only)

Sine Mora (PS3/360 only)

.

Special

Skyrim timed exclusive DLC expansions (timed exclusive)

Exclusive Kinect support for Mass Effect 3 (Kinect exclusive features)Will be done on PC - after a while

As you can see, nearly every exclusive game is either an XBLA game that can be finished in 2 hours, or a Kinect game that won't work and requires you to fling you arms around like an idiot

- Arcade games that can be ended in 5-6 hours you mean (that means as long as a cod campaign)? "Won't work" isn't even close. Some people want to try something different. It can be alot of fun (if done right ofc).

I gotta give the guy credit, though. It would be hard as hell to convince anyone that Kinect is cool. To try and convince a bunch of educated gamers who actually know about games that Kinect is a worthwhile device every single day is probably the largest task anyone could take on. It would be like trying to convince a professional race car driver that a go kart was faster than a race car.

I would like to point out that the PC community (gaming and non-gaming) has done some fancy work with the Kinect.. oh and that PC specific Kinect with enhanced hardware although I don't think the price hike for it is worth the extra junk. Of course, Loosey will never admit that the PC folk has found better use for a console centric device

There's a general thing about gaming that every gamer needs to understand, and learn to accept eventually. The faster they learn it, the better.

That thing is, "PC always wins".

is it just me or are console players bashing pc for having 2d sidescroller games, yet when a console gets one, its a good game that we should hype up? anyways, not a bad list. i might actually play most of that list.

IMO all of these games are garbage, therefore Xbox has no games. It's clearly not worth having.
