Yes. YouTube uploads directly from the console.

Then perhaps they are allocating a generous portion to that.

So how many "Leaks" have we had that says that the NX is more powerful than the PS4, and is easy to develop games for? 2? 3? Can't be TOO far off from the truth, if multiple sources are saying the same thing.

Nobody is going to be releasing consoles that can render games in 4K natively anytime soon. We will have to wait until the NX 2.0 , PS5.0 and XB2.0 for that.

AMD promises 5x the performance per watt in 2018, so I expect 4K consoles in 2019 - 2020.

That's not good logic because you just compared 2 different things, the memory for games Wii U has to gauge the total memory of the next console.

If you divide the 4x increase in total memory Wii U has over 360 in half, for half the time between releases then a similar increase would be 16gb for NX. Shave off 4gb for the extra year and you have the 12gb.

I was expecting at least 16gb really.

In a perfect world the NX would be getting a minimum of 10GB's for game development and then whatever else they need for the OS.

The PS4's revised motherboard cut the memory modules in half as they switched from 16 512MB to 8 1GB modules. Given Nintendo's love for small form factors I can't see them putting in more than 10 modules on the motherboard. Does anyone know if 1.5GB memory modules exist?

No backwards-compatibility? Well, guess I'll have to get a Wii U to play the new Star Fox after all.

That should be the case if the system comes with 12GB, it doesn't even need to be in a perfect world its just common sense...seriously if NX comes with 12GB & ONLY 6GB is available for games development,,,that's already their first **** up for NX. :P

Well, Nintendo have openly stated they are not going to follow the Wii or DS strategy with NX this time around, so expecting a continuation of that seems to me to be foolish.

Yeah, if they do exist then the availability is probably on the lower end. I'm calling 10GB's in the NX if Nintendo sticks with their small form factor designs. 12 - 16GB's if the console is closer in size to the PS4.

I am really liking the rumors. I'd love to see Nintendo back in it. It'll push the other two and we all win. Shame it might not be BC though. If this leak is true, and it turns out NX won't have BC, I would say get a Wii U on the cheap. Even if it is only going to be a Zelda player for you, it would be worth it!

And there is a new way to play, they have localized haptics, which I didn't even know was possible, and scroll wheels.

@charizard1605: true, and it reminds me of the controller leak, we had two fake controllers. Both looked just like the patent diagram and they just played everyone by that. I'm not buying it anymore.

@charizard1605: That's how I feel. I'll be able to get TP, WW HD, BC SS and hunt down Metroid prime trilogy which I loved and didn't finish. A WiiU is definitely looking like a buy at the end of semester during my 2 week break.

PS4 and XBox One only have 5GB avaliable for games, so it would still be technically better, at least. It's possible that Nintendo's just playing it safe and will free up another GB or two later. 8GB for games and 4GB for OS would be perfect for a powerful OS and nice-looking games.

All 4K televisions upscale 1080p content, but its still 1080p native content.

I hope their online system isn't terrible on the next console, and I also hope they utilize it for all their games. None of their poor reasoning like "This game was designed to be played couch co-op"... I mean, that's great and all, but I have friends that don't live on my couch, or within 500 miles of my couch. Let me play with them too.

Current GCNs doesn't support HDMI 2.0a without an active DP1.2/1.3 to HDMI 2.0 converter.

Keep in mind GDDR5 vs GDDR5X storage densities with 128bit vs 256bit external bus. There are lower storage limits for GDDR5 with 128bit bus.

There's only two Polaris ASICs to "semi-customise" for your SoC i.e. Polaris 10 and 11..

For mainstream, 5X is for sustained 4K/VR gaming not minimum hardware for 4K/VR gaming.

High end PC gaming is above the mainstream curve.

For economic of scale, it's cheaper for AMD to mass produce Polaris for all their customers e.g. Apple, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft

Poor Nintendo. If they have a gimmick people complain, if they don't people complain anyway. It's perhaps a bit much to have three companies making basically identical walled off mini-PCs. And personally I would love if they did go third party.

@techhog89: The more memory they can allocate for games development the better. Don't care for flashy OS...as long as I can put game in and start playing & not wait for long time because of flashy OS...don't care about streaming or putting video up on youtube or achievements -> hey you are awesome sauce! etc. :P

I don't see why it would ever be too late for them to do that unless they end up in a terrible financial situation and have to sell studios to survive before they can even go third-party (though they'd have to sell some studios either way), but okay.

The problem with PC OEMs are their sub-par standards for mainstream products. This is why Microsoft has to intervene in the PC OEM space. Intel's mainstream IGPs doesn't match XBO's GPU and crappy tablet 2-in-1 constructions.

Intel likes to keep thier Skylake 4C's small 122 mm^2 chip size and have a high asking price..

This is the problem that I worry about... can Nintendo compete with the other 2 manufacturers, if they make a "normal" console? While for me, I'd love it if these rumours are true (and I'm assuming most Nintendo fans would be the same), I worry if they can compete with MS & Sony without something that differentiates their console from PS4/XB1. Is their 1st party lineup, with the addition of more 3rd party games, going to be enough? I'm not sure. I hope so but.

But if this system is a "normal" console like the rumours suggest, and it doesn't sell, Nintendo are going to pull their collective hairs out I'm sure... "they say they don't want gimmicks, now they say they want something different. Arrrggghhh!". Lol.

I want cartridges! Having to install discs and getting day one patches is a too slow process! Yes, we can always do digital downloads in order to fasten the process, but it doesn't beat plugging a game in and loads to the hardware quickly without relying on a HDD that can be slower than molasses. But I know that won't happen.....

if this rumour is accurate then I'm probably buying one. Well, this or ps4k or whatever they are calling it.

The big test for me is not the hardware. I want real software support on the NX, and having seen the BS spouted by previous Nintendo conferences like with the WiiU and 3DS, I'll be assuming the worst and will need to be swayed.
