THE GOOD

Wonderful story led by two of the strongest protagonists the series

Excellent world design allows organic discovery of missions with open-ended solutions

London looks gorgeous

The rope launcher tool is a game-changer for traversal and stealth

Building up your gang is rewarding and satisfying

Masterful soundtrack captures the hope and despair of the setting

THE BAD

Final boss battle is frustrating and kills the drama

Sometimes controls can be imprecise

How a series with such limited, shallow gameplay has received four 9.0s is beyond me. I straight up have a hard time believing reviews for this series now.

unexpected after the disastrous Unity

Not surprising, but it doesn't sway me towards wanting to buy it. I'd be much more likely to buy it if they weren't coming out every year. It has series fatigue in my opinion. I'll play it when it's free on ps+ or gwg.

Yeah.. Highly doubt it deserves that score. I'm not going to say it's wrong before trying the game, but.. seriously.

No... No.... And just no.... Assassins creed has made a mockery of their narrative and every protagonist since revelations has been an empty husk allowing you to run around "whatever world they built this year"...

I'm just not falling for it. I can see why black flag got a 9... Half the games perspective shifted, but I'm not buying this.... Guarantee side missions are still horrible and recycled as well...

With hard mode King's Fall, Halo 5 and Fallout 4 on the horizon i doubt i'll be giving this a go until next year if ever, but good score.

This is exactly like AC3 going to AC4. I remember everyone being blown away by AC4 getting a 9. And I heard the day one patch(there's two), fixes so many of the bugs and glitches.

Some of you guys are acting like this is a new trend when you know it's not. Sites have always given annual franchises free passes because of where they come from and their popularity.

Anyone who believes any website scores to be legit in this day and age, is a damned fool.

Aye, I'm getting those vibes. They're going from an unpolished version to a properly polished one again. Hopefully it'll stay polished for the next few years (AC3->AC4->AC:Unity->AC:Syndicate is a very strange ride :P).

I don't know. I could see why Blck Flag scored as well as it did, it changed everything. This, though, seems to be just the same old Assassins Creed, but with a narrower scope (which means it takes away the one thing the series always does well).

I still play 'em. They may come out every year, but they're usually quality titles. Glad to hear this isn't a Unity repeat, the PC version still has to release though.

I know I said I wasn't gonna bring up MC any more but I need to 1 more time. ACS is at a 79 right now and Gamespots score is tied for the highest with 2 others. Why so high here when they have given Nintendo exclusives the lowest score they received? I thought maybe Gamespot was trying to "fix" the system until I saw this head scratcher.

Watched the review.... Haven't read it yet, but in all honesty, it sounds like she is in that honeymoon phase with the franchise. Just a guess, but the phrase, "combat plays out like a beautiful dance" is not the words of a veteran creed player.

So Ass Creed > TLOU. Must be one hell of a game.

@charizard1605: It's not as big of a change as this to Unity is, but let's not forget Unity was the first next gen Assassin's Creed. A lot of its flaws came down to technicalities. And with this, it looks like a refinement.

Yeah, the characters weren't good in Unity, but there's no reason they can't be better in this one.

Hell, the thing the AC franchise had wrong for so long, the actual assassinations, were the best in Unity.

I've never actually purchased or played any Assassin't Creed game though I do have the Pirates of the Caribbean one on my Xbox One as it was free a few months back. I may give it a go sometime.

Franchise fatigue kicked in long time ago. There used to be a time when I look forward to an AC game and watch trailers and replay the games immediately after finishing such as Brotherhood and AC2. Nowadays I struggle to even play for more than an hour without being bored to death. Even if this game is truly a great game it still the same rehashed ideas every year with a few changes that simply do not create a new experience and a rewarding one to me and worthwhile to get into in my opinion.

Passing on AC game yet again.

I've played every game in the series so far, but even if this game is doing well with reviews I won't be purchasing it anytime soon. I'm just burnt out on the franchise.

Metacritic score is at 78 now there are a lot of mixed reviews so I would do more research if I was interested in this......gone are the days where decisions can be made based on a Gamespot review......either they overscore or underscore a lot of the time

I will just wait for Angry Joe's Review... The only critic I trust nowadays
