So let me get this straight, if your favorite game gets a high score that means the review is good but if the game you dislike gets a higher score then the reviewer must have gotten paid to give it a high score? LOL that messed up logic.. smh at the gaming community.
dont like the game just skip it or ignore the score why is it so hard?
great score and will surely get, also no surprise its an AC game which means Quality product
@Heil68: Still not going to get an objective review from someone who has been hyping it since it was announced.
That's not a review it's gushing fangirl drivel.
well then use MC or GR for a blended score. Seems like a good game to me.
Didn't you just recently get in to the series? Those of us who've played them all since the original AC know just how over-rated the series has become. We've been suckered in to buying these games too many times in the past to buy the ole "it's a 9 guys, go get it naoo!" thing.
franchise. fucking. fatigue.
yeah, i tried 1-2 count get through them at the time. Got back at Black Flag, loved it and then I platinum Unity. I'm just saying a 79 MC is a good game, but yeah the series has been making a new game each year and I can understand some people getting tired of it.
@parkurtommo: Well said and I agree. Been saying the same thing about the big three for a long time now. The sad truth is this: the gaming industry is beyond saving and so are most consumers in it. The best we can get out of it now is a few great experiences every gen, and a whole lot of mediocrity.
Best thing to do is save your favorite games for the day when you'll have to rely on them to stay interested in the hobby.
@finalstar2007: I think it's ok to be an invested gamer and be critical of a franchise if you've actually played these games and stayed on board with the direction of the series... Its no different than growing tired with a television series... Especially in today's day where big franchises are annual occurrences.
In terms of reviews, they'll always be a "corruption" overtone, and maybe rightly so in some ways, but this is nothing new.
My gripe with Creed is mostly I don't think they've evolved their mission variety and scope in a meaningful way since Assassins Creed 2, black flag notwithstanding. I can ultimately live with a busted present day narrative and just enjoy it for what it is, but despite such attention to its visual detail, there's such a lack of daringness to address some of its core grievences.
Still, at the end of the day, I'm sure it's a game that will pull in a new creed fan for every one it loses... And that's OK.
It's trash.
What a shitty game my gawd... Incredibly bad. Normally i agree with GS's scores but since Kevin left its a clusterfuck. Quick look is up and its simply abysmal, hurts my brain only watching this
Another thing i just noticed seeing some cut scenes from the game. What was one of the most impressive things about Unity other than 1 trillion copy/pasted characters that used the same animations by bulks and pretty graphics? Lips syncing. Look at how shitty it gotten for Syndicate. Instead of improving, they've downgraded lmao.
It's hard to take you seriously. While I don't disagree that AC games are same crap every year but the only reason you are acting like this is because it runs poorly on PS4 and now you are looking for an excuse to bash the game.
Oh really lets forget ACBF is superior on PS4 over the xbox one version, and that the version running better on xbox one was screw up and hold back on purpose.
What Xbox One has to do with it? You are just looking for excuses to bash the game because it doesn't perform as well on PS4 as you expected. I don't think quality of the game has anything to do with it because I've never seen you making threads that are not related to Digital foundry or sales. Seems like you are grasping for straws.
If you expected anything different, there's no helping you. And we can say it's crap all we want (and it is) but we'll be seeing this shit for the entire generation. We will be seeing this shit in the next decade. Ubisoft won't stop and people won't stop buying it.
I know that, I'm just displaying some wishful thinking here while you're trying to instill passivity... I DO genuinely want other consumers to be a little bit more conscious of what they're doing when they buy their 5th, 6th, 7th and so on AC game. They're not just buying a game that they might enjoy for 10 hours. They're buying Ubisoft 1 more year to waste creative energy on a tired franchise.
Let's compare this to the state of the environment. Consuming normal products and using normal electricity encourages the current model of fossil fuels, mass production of foods, etc. etc. Buying things just because they are immediately gratifying and easy to enjoy has consequences, it cheapens the product, it encourages the opportunistic capitalism that has infected almost every business model in effect today.
It's not as simple as "buy what you enjoy". If it were that simple, I would buy every AAA game that I was ever interested in.
As some who actively posts a lot of negative shit about modern video games, what they do wrong, not the least of which is my ever bullheaded stance that if the gameplay part sucks, the game sucks mantra, I don't disagree with some of your sentiment. Critics should punish games for being more of the same, critics should be able to point out the obvious short comings in a game, that's their job on some level. I want harsher ones, not necessarily ones who will give me what I want to hear, or what devs/pubs want to hear.
In the case of this review she genuinely liked it, probably likes a lot of the series; good for her. She speaks to people like her. Does she have value? Yeah for people looking for what she provides as a critic. It doesn't make her less valid just because she isn't providing what I want, she just doesn't work for me. Other critics do buyer's guides, in the case of Angry Joe it's a whole lot of features and how long a game is over how good a game is. Shit that's what the RPG fanbase is built, especially jrpg fans, scum of the earth they are, even they should have their own scum of the earth outlet.
Your job as a consumer is more or less find the critics that work for you, part of the reason game critics rarely use all the scale (if anything recently because of how many outlets there are) we see a better range of opinions, and I don't think anyone can argue Gamespot hasn't used the whole scale, is because gamers are the first ones in fucking line to bitch to the highest of heavens when a game is scored too lowly about a game they haven't even played. Much less put in the effort to actually read the review or take into account that just because game X got this score, and game Y got that score that doesn't mean shit because the reviewers are different.
I mean lets be clear we have certified, bonafide, without question, without debate, grade A dimwits who read that review and reacted to it as "it's because it's feminism, only reason it scored high"...when unless you reinvented the definition certain words in the English language, there is nothing in her review that would fit said mentality. But hey like I said, people gotta bitch.
No for the record that doesn't mean the blame doesn't fall on the critics either. They should have a backbone, but you know that's the laughable state of games journalism. It isn't recently shit, it's always been shit.
Otherwise I like the pious, but I'm going to buy what I want to buy, because it's my hard earned money (and it sure as **** isn't being wasted on an Ubisoft game), and I would wager the people that pony up for shitty games have earned that right as well. Whether it's "heatlhy" for a medium or not. That part is on the creators, it's their fault for not being able to find themselves a market and have a better balance, it's on the pubs for not being able to market accordingly. And in an era where indie games are in abundance, and we have kickstarter stuff, and all the stuff on Steam, there is like no excuse given how many options you have. Plus there is always retro gaming.
and this is why I don't listen to reviewers. AC is a 6-7/10 series at best
OK, so the franchise is bordering on fatigue(for many, its way beyond that of course) but as tired as I am of the series (i played until AC 3 last and thats all I can take for now), the game is NOT THAT BAD. Its just that people are tired of the series. That doesn't mean a bad game.
Personally, the game should get about 8-8.5 due to, I'd imagine, high production values and polished/refined gameplay. But the game doesn't bring anything that new or shake any foundation which should be reserved for 9.
No game deserve a 10, thats why no one takes reviews from GS and IGN with any ounce of credibility anymore.
I highly doubt you've even played it so please put away your conspiracy theories El Tormented. Stick to talking about sales and graphics
WTF i have play all AC games up to ACU,they are repetitive shit, kill this dude, climb here find this treasure the elements of the games are basically the same since the first one.
Is like COD getting a 9 no matter how much it does man it has being play out,oh wait i remember now you are a lemming you like to play the same shit over and over again in a mary go round way.
So you haven't played syndicate yet right? How in the hell could you judge a game without even playing it? Oh wait that's rhetorical because everyone knows you don't actually play games so I doubt you've played what you said.
At least I play games El Tormented AND I don't talk about a game UNLESS I've played it, unlike you.
You can play syndicate without ever having to boot up the game.
Played 1.5 hours of Syndicate so far, I can see it being as good as Black Flag.
Nice! How are you enjoying it? I'd like to hear from someone who's actually played it.

It's interesting and actually has better pacing unlike Rogue and AC3 (so far as good as BF). I've done the first two missions and it feels like a AC game but it does some stuff that isn't a AC game.
Plus victorian london so far is probably the best setting for a AC game.

that's because you missed out on all the bad ones lol. the series was a solid 8 until 3. 3,BF,and unity were all in the 6 maybe 7 if you are generous range. The issue is the gameplay isn't polished, the games themselves have been buggy, the PvP has been removed, now in the latest one they removed the co-op as well. it's now a SP only. The story has gone to crap, there really isn't any redeeming quality in AC series to make it more then a decent game at this point
I like what what is next to the picture of the reviewer.
Alexa Ray Corriea
Alexa Ray Corriea has made it a point to never miss an Assassin's Creed game. She finished the main campaign of Syndicate along with enough side operations to net 75 percent synchronization for this review.
And you pick this person to review the game, reeeeaal objective there.
Played 1.5 hours of Syndicate so far, I can see it being as good as Black Flag.

Very encouraging. I loved Black Flag, and that was the last one I played. I'll pick this up shortly. Appreciate the feedback.
The Gamespot staff member who's been hyping AC: Syndicate ever since it turned out that you can play a female assassin is the same one who does the review.
No pre-release bias there what so ever.
The game has a 90 on GI as well. Maybe it's your bias that's the problem.
The Telegraph gave it a 40/100, you know an actual high quality newspaper with real actual, qualified, journalists without any agenda or bias. Hmm... who to believe? It's a dilemma really.
Seriously, what have I ever posted to make you think that I have a bias against female game characters or women in general? I honestly couldn't give a flying f*** about what gender, race, age or species a game character is (or any other walk of life, though species may become a bit awkward with that), a good game is a good game.
Alexis, on the other hand, has been talking about it with every opportunity she can, it's clearly a massive issue for her. Do you think that would make her a good choice for an objective review?
I highly doubt you've even played it so please put away your conspiracy theories El Tormented. Stick to talking about sales and graphics

That's nice but what does that have to do with El Tormented not playing it? We all know he hasn't yet he's judging the game like he judges all games without actually playing them.
@kingtito: I am judging the game the same way. Under most games you are right, but for a AC game you cant pretty much accurately judge it without playing it and be dead on.
So you can judge a game and decide whether or not you would enjoy playing it by what someone else thinks or likes? I can see if you share the same taste and likes as the person reviewing it. I still think you'd have to actually play a game before you can make that determination but that's just my opinion.
El Tormented isn't doing that though. He's basing his opinion not on the GS review but what MCs score is. He does this all the time without actually playing any of the games he puts down which is why I called him out. Dude is all about graphics and sales and not actually playing the games he talks about. It wasn't directed towards anyone else.
Honestly, this game's alright. I'm glad they cut down on Unity's bullshit.
Your map cluttered with sidequest garbage? Gone.
Lockpick minigame for every chest? Gone.
Cooldown on eagle eye vision? Gone.
Coop shit everywhere? Gone.
And I quite like the ability to be able to change characters. It's just a much better crafted game. And I like the inclusion of carriages. It's like how they introduced ships in AC4 properly, although it's not as big of a part, but it's welcome, nonetheless.
Also, got Evie wielding the pimp cane, and Jacob the knuckles. Kokiri blades haven't been that intriguing so far.

The fucking Tory-graph... No bias? Bitch please.
@jg4xchamp: Agreed. Honestly, I just overreacted a bit. I was bored I guess. I usually don't even attempt to criticize reviews because... as you implied, they're opinions, and there are lots of them. No need to get bitchy about just one of them.
I'm still very skeptical. Especially looking at the visuals. It's like they actually downgraded everything because they stuffed too much shit for even the best hardware in Unity. Like, imo, Unity deserved more than what it got, and now Syndicate gets more than I'm assuming it actually deserves (without having played it lol).

My point is that it's an actual press publication, not a crazed fangirl dribbling about a game she's likely under contract to review favourably. It may be a decent game but I certainly wouldn't take Alexis's word for it, especially after watching Danny's early play through a few days before the review.
As far as my political views go, I'm one of the 45% and patiently waiting on Cameron to give us enough reason for another referendum. The single Scottish Tory in West Minster is nothing to with me.

Be safe in the knowledge that its all going to come crashing down round Camerons ears soon enough. Just look at his courting of the Chinese President, while we lose almost 4000 jobs in our steel industry in little over a month.
Strikes me as political. Certainly an outlier as things stand, and there's usually a reason for that.
@kingtito: I care about the state of this industry, I have an agenda. The whole "vote with your wallet" bullshit doesn't work when the audience that buys this every year doesn't even know what the **** they're missing out on. Imagine, a world where 10 sequels were not considered normal... It would be a better world, I think. That's why, I genuinely want the AC series to get punished with bad review scores no matter how objectively "ok" it is.
They have the right to vote with their wallets as well. Just because YOU don't like something doesn't mean others have to feel the same way. Here's a clue on the what you do.....don't....buy....the....game. That doesn't mean others have to ignore it because YOU don't like it.

Well I can't say I do it like his I base my off of what people tell me about it.
AC games are very uneven and depending on where your emphasis lies you can come to very different conclusions. In short production values are high, gameplay mechanics are trash.
What I find a bit interesting though is that when you look at metacritic it's the two nespapers which are the harshest. In other words gaming media prioritize production values, regular media gameplay. I would have thought it was the other way around.
It just to me sometimes feels copy and paste to me every year and try to capture the essence of 2 not one moment was I interested to splash full price but I probably will get it in a price drop
The only thing that sounds even mildly interesting about this is being able to build up your gang.
Otherwise, it's the same fucking game that Ubisoft has been releasing over and over again for the last decade.
How people can continue to find this shallow, parkour shit so fascinating is beyond me.
Who the hell is this reviewer? It's weird that this website only takes reviews of one person for each game.
