More garbage from EA, I wonder how they are gonna rip-off the suckers stupid enough to buy this game this time? pay for reloading a weapon? pay for ammo drop? pay to walk beyond a specific distance? pay for a bug fix?

This BattleField entry is clearly going to be alternate history/a more stylized/wacky version of WW2. Bits reminded me of Borderlands. Samurai Swords, prosthetics, actionhero attitudes and biker jackets.

Which is absolutely fine. It's more interesting to me than yet another traditional WW2 FPS.

Battlefield has never had a good story-mod. All overly scripted shit badly attempting to be a movie.

It actually would be better if they just scrapped that shit and concentrated on MP.

It is definitely silly and trying too hard. Women are not an accurate representation of the typical soldier of WWI or WWII. I don't mind having women soldiers in the game, but having them prominently on a splash screen is just trying to serve a bullshit agenda that we have been plagued by in recent years. I got respect for women, but I am not a fan of feminist and SJW bullshit.

BTW, it would be nice to see some actual gameplay instead of that scripted bullshit in the trailer.

Hmm I get what you're all saying. I'll admit the first thought I had when the trailer appeared was: 'Why make female soldiers prominent in a WW2 setting? Why not a modern setting? Or a cool future setting?'

But judging by some other props in the trailer and the 'tude of the characters, I don't think they're going for authenticity and if that's the case then I don't really see a problem.

(I mean, it could change the vibe a little. But it's also not the first time we've had ladies in a BF game.)

Don't have a problem with authenticity unless the gameplay is specifically aiming for it.

But the campaigns have always been poor. Bad Company 2 was about the cloest to a decent one and that still sucked.

Yes I agree with you on that one. We'd both rather see them put all the focus and effort in the multiplayer.

Is it me or does the game look too bright? I mean in Battlefield 1 it had a nice gritty color and look to it that represented the setting of the game right, while this looks a little cartoonish with a a lot of bloom in it.

Too many people think every decision is about politics. How many females do you think play Battlefield? Maybe EA decided they would give their female players a chance to actually play as a female.

I guess they think they need this shit for the game to sell? That they can't just make authentic experiences? This looks garbage to me, and why the campaign has no chance. Bad enough it will be scripted and <4 hours, gotta fill up those 4 hours with over the top set pieces tool. I'm sure the multiplayer can still be fine regardless.

MP is what BF is all about. I haven't finished (or even tried to really) a BF campaign since Modern Combat in 2005.

If it's WW2, I will buy it just for MP. I don't care/mind about women empowerment in video games.

It's pretty much the gaming equivalent of Transformers.

It's a little sad to see so many people (unempathetic lads, in the main) banging on about how DICE are destroying the idea of WW2 by having women on the front lines.. Crying shame over its historical inaccuracies.. Yet never seem to mind about the insanely unrealistic portfolio of weapons available in games like Bf1, or tanks that moved 1000% faster than in reality, and available in vast numbers.

Its almost like their rage and anger is not born from DICE's perceived historical oversights, but rather their own sexist, horrid beliefs.

Its a game boys.. Have fun.. Don't fret.. Read a book if you want accuracy, BF hasn't been your franchise for many releases at this stage.

Hmm, cosmetics are okay I guess. And BF has had time savers for quite a while now. Still sucks but at least they're not affecting gameplay yet.

I don't care about the inclusion of women, I'm more concerned about the terrible trailer. It was just about the absolute opposite of the tone the developers used when describing the game.

Cosmetics are very "who gives a shit", unless it's something like Team Fortress 2 that completely messes up the aesthetics.

I would argue by default the gameplay is effected, just as it is with mobile games. They have incentive to make convoluted grind walls.

For Honer for example, would literally take years to unlock everything.

SFV, is play or grind, and it's nigh on impossible to unlock every character.

I don't mind TF2's cosmetics so much, where you simply pay for the items you want. The chests that require keys and such are bs though. True it can mess with the aesthetics, but I'm sure BF5 cosmetics won't be too silly.

That's a fair point, and I can see what you mean with the grinding. I just meant that I don't want it go the way of COD WW2 where you can quite literally earn achievements for watching people open loot boxes.

Yeah seems a lot of games are given unnecessarily poorly paced player progression, in order to make more money from micro transactions. It's the biggest issue I have with a lot of third party games, exclusives are generally much better in this regard.
