I'm still scratching my head as too why people would complain about a AAA score or for that matter claim a AAA game flopped. Crazy times here in SW.

The system is broken. It should've been changed when Gamespot's reviewing method changed. Now there are only 2 possible scores for each level of quality, A, AA, AAA, compared to the 10 before. Something's gotta give.

Well the only question I raise about the review is the freezing, hiccup part after hours of playing. No one has reported it besides GS and he didn't even mention it in his video review.

I dont think that's fair. PDZ was out nearly two years ago. Standards have increased since then as there are more games, more consoles, and stiffer competition. Also, i'd say PDZ was somewhat over-rated to begin with, but that's just my opinion.

I think a more fitting comparison is the Darkness and BioShock, as they are also in the same ballpark in terms of score and were reviewed by the same person. Also, they both came out in the same general time-frame.

Although even having said that, i dont think it's fair to just compare one score to the other and judge overall quality. I think it's far more important to read the actual review and see what has to be said about the game.

I have played the 360 demo and the controls are fine.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing some little "vacations" to all the people posing "Teh Flopzors" and such, because as we all know, it did NOT flop, and those posts are only meant to get people bent out of shape. I'm not the boss though... but it's just a thought. Forza_2, i've explained this more times than the energy is worth. I think then four individual posters take the trouble to post just to ask me why i'm bothering to even reply, it's apparent that whatever beef you have is going nowhere.

You never seem to explain what your point is. Only have a pop at me. I'm not sitting here just to go round and round in circles with some guy who has last-word issues and after hundreds of posts still cannot tell me what his opinion even is and why he's taking such exception to every word i say regardless of what it is.

Madden fiasco and now the Bioshock review........lettin me down, oh well, atleast the community is so big here that I don't need to be have to agree with the reviews to be able to come here and enjoy the webiste

I have an idea for a new review system.

Instead of the score, it should simply say "YOU SHOULD BUY THIS GAME!" That would be considered AAA. If it's a genuine masterpiece of a game (AAAA), it should say "YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BUY THIS GAME!"

AA? "Honestly, you should probably buy this game.... i guess...."

It would remove the whole score debate and stop people whining about numbers. :P

You know what's really going to stink? If halo 3 scores 9.5 there will be so many people screaming and calling Gamespot biased because they gave the higher score to halo 3 instead of bioshock.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing some little "vacations" to all the people posing "Teh Flopzors" and such, because as we all know, it did NOT flop, and those posts are only meant to get people bent out of shape. I'm not the boss though... but it's just a thought. The "flop" posts may calm down now that cows and sheep have it out of their system, but I'll bet will be explaining how it didn't flop for the rest of this gen.remaGloohcSdlO

Good news if you own the hardcopy of the game. It will be available to play at midnight via your own time zone. If you got it over Steam, well you will have to wait until 4pm EST tomorrow to play it. This was confirmed over at the IGN boards.

I look at it this way. When I want to choose a movie, I look up the movie review in USA Today because I 100% disagree with that reviewer. As far as games go, I rely on my 20+ years of gaming and Gamefly to determine if I want to buy the game. The review is just a number to me...

I'm not really sure, but I think it did. The only thing I modified as far as the controls go for the demo was to invert my right analog stick.

It could very well get that score mainly because unlike Bioshock, the value factor kicks in for Halo 3. Bioshock is a game I will probably play through twice and that will be it. Halo 3 will be a game I play through many times because of on-line/off-line co-op and MP.

Its a problem with ALL console fps... has been since turok.... the only fix is auto aim... did the demo have that too?AntiType

You cant fault a reviewer for taking a critical look at a game. If you want to fault someone try those clowns at 1up whose hyperbole laden podcasts and constant fawning guaranteed this game a 10 before it had even been reviewed.

People are getting upset because Jeff gave you an accurate portrayal of what the game was like, warts and all. If you want nothing but praise and AAAA scores dont come to gamespot

No I meant your avatar. I think it's just the color scheme, and a few people have those floating PS3s with a white background as avatars. Quickly glancing at it on this forum while I'm reading posts I just get a cow vibe. Sorry. :P

That was the funniest part of the first Bioshock review thread. People are saying Jeff sucks and the review was biased without even playing the game, LOL!!! :lol: The only part that is even questionable about his review is the hiccup/freezing after so many hours of playing, which no other reviewers has even mentioned yet and basing on their video reviews I haven't seen it either. Besides that, the rest was basic opinion, which every one has the right to agree or disagree with if you have actually played the game. Problem is, I'd say 99% of the people complaining hadn't played the game yet.

I assume this will score better on the PC, because of the lack of stutters on the 360 version, better graphics, and it controlls better on PC. I think it will score 9.2 for PC.

Anyways, when will the PC review be up?

wow I just saw the video review and I respect jeff for the score he gave the game. he has the @@@ to give hyped games the score they deserve no matter what other media fanboys are giving these games.

He made a clear point: the game is awesome and a must have. hence AAA and a 9.0

It has flaws though: first of all it seems that the gameplay is not up to par with the presentation

second: the game is way, way, way too linear. i expected bioshock to be a solve it your own way type of game with the level of interactivity and the complex ai that the game has, yet they made it linear and didnt encoourage exploration.

good job jeff. I applauded you after twilight princess, I applaud you again.

Bioshocks, an awesome game!.

anyways caseywegner you are my favourite mod, I love how you sometimes play devils advocate.

Also jeff rocks, he has ****s of steel, he speaks his mind, and is all the better for it.

The video-review should be made mandatory viewing before commenting on the review as a whole i think. The write-up lacks an awful lot of stuff which is pointed out in the video.
