[QUOTE="Dead-Memories"] that could mean a lot of things, friend.

Dead-Memories

you caught me off guard with this answer, what other things do you mean?

you're adept in the business of assuming, so use your skills eh?

I think you need to answer because my assuming skills apparently are low level after such an amazing answer from you, I mean maybe you were referring to pigs flying I don't know, that comment could mean a lot of things.

To me it's more like Bioware vs. Uncharted. Overall Bioware would win

Why did the tc make this thread? That's the real question. I still believe he created this because of all the positive press UC3 is getting lol.

No, its more like, "why ask a question if you are going to get offended by some of the answers". This thread is just basically PS3 fans vs PS3/PC fans.

Well he didn't give any option that fell in the lines of both sides(which is the side that most would have picked in the end), so yeah i agree with you.

Thats not really a fair fight because most PC players, Xbox players, and some PS3 players will choose Bioware, but pretty much only PS3 players will choose naughty dog. BTW Naughty Dog by a long shot ;).

Yeah, I don't think anyone denies you're one of the bigest anti-sony crusaders here. You especifically singled out one of sony's biggest devs at the momment and pit it next to a giant that everyone know, just in time when UC3 is getting all the possitive hype.

it's a fair comparison though, look at the polls. your accusations are most amusing, I have a PS3 and it's a good system, no anti-sony here, not to mention there's free online. the hype is well deserved, the trailer looked pretty exceptional. making threads to provoke discussion is an arduous task without being constantly attacked

It's kind of silly the amount of damage control on both 360 and ps3 side these days. I think we all should be happy about all the great announcements this weekend. It's sad not everyone is satisfied by the news.

Games being announced is great, frankly though, I hate hype trailers and teasers. All they do is propel ridiculous levels of stupidty and baseless statements. But this is SW, of course we are going to get silly arguments, where else are we gonna get our fanboy fix? General games discussion? IGN?

So care to explain where these RPG elements are when you're shooting? Last I checked there were no stats for the use of guns in ME2.Ace6301

You can upgrade all weapons in ME2, and all of them pertain to "stats" when in combat. Damage, accuracy, critical. It's bare bones, but it's there.

Naughty Dog. I've been a fan of Naughty Dog games since the days of Crash Bandicoot. They are extremely talented devs who know how to make fantastic looking, fantastic playing and funny games with a movie like calibre yet to be seen in most video games.

Bioware... makes okay games with a lot of them being hugely overrated. The only Bioware series I've liked so far is Mass Effect. Though overrated, it's got a pretty interesting permutation system (and I'd love to see what they would do with it in ME 3).

^ The above is just my opinion. You can put down the stakes and pitchforks now.

You can upgrade guns in Uncharted 2 MP too. I guess Uncharted 2 is also an RPG! Seriously though I love Mass Effect, both of them, but 2 is not an RPG with TPS elements. It's a TPS with RPG elements. There IS a difference and I really don't get how people can't see that.

I never understood this logic. Who gives a **** what it is? As long as it's a good game, I don't see how genre should effect one's perception at all (that goes for other games too, not just Mass Effect). With Mass Effect, unless you had a thing for the dice roll shooting, and leveling up your pistol skills, then why does the genre even matter? People whine so much about how Mass Effect 2 isn't an RPG, and you know what? I'm cool with that, 'cause it's better than damn near any game I've ever played.

It's usually how games are judged and most fall under certain categories.Others like mass effect have the exception. However when the sequal destroys must of what the original had planned(looking at you mass2, DA2) for the sake of streamlining, or in othe cases "consolization"(yes I know ugly term), it very hard not to notice the changes from the latest entry if that makes sense.

the changes improved the pacing, and made it an overall better game, critics and gamers alike agree. there are a small minority of those "dice roller elitists" that will crucify any game that attempts to market itself to a wider audience but alas. and DA:2 isn't out yet!! please let's stop bashing it ffs.

Of course people would be pretty mad if bioware took away most of the RPG elements from the game and then turned it into a straight up TPS. It's never both with developers, it's either too hardcore or too casual. Bioware is going too casual from what I see.

No, it makes no sense. Destroyed most of what the original had planned? Consolization? We talkin' 'bout Dragon Age to Dragon Age 2 here? 'cause that seems to be what you're getting at. I have some issues with that game, but they're mainly related to the removal of my iso-cam. (why... :( ). Now, with Mass Effect, you're dead wrong. It improved on the first in nearly every way possible. Want to go back to the days of sorting through weapon-look-alikes, and dice-roll shooting?

[QUOTE="Dead-Memories"][QUOTE="edo-tensei"] It's usually how games are judged and most fall under certain categories.Others like mass effect have the exception. However when the sequal destroys must of what the original had planned(looking at you mass2, DA2) for the sake of streamlining, or in othe cases "consolization"(yes I know ugly term), it very hard not to notice the changes from the latest entry if that makes sense.Espada12

the changes improved the pacing, and made it an overall better game, critics and gamers alike agree. there are a small minority of those "dice roller elitists" that will crucify any game that attempts to market itself to a wider audience but alas. and DA:2 isn't out yet!! please let's stop bashing it ffs.

Of course people would be pretty mad if bioware took away most of the RPG elements from the game and then turned it into a straight up TPS. It's never both with developers, it's either too hardcore or too casual. Bioware is going too casual from what I see.

does the game automatically turn unplayable when a normal dude can play the game and enjoy it to its full potential? = "casual"

this is the sense I am getting from a lot of these ME 2 bashers

I never understood this logic. Who gives a **** what it is? As long as it's a good game, I don't see how genre should effect one's perception at all (that goes for other games too, not just Mass Effect). With Mass Effect, unless you had a thing for the dice roll shooting, and leveling up your pistol skills, then why does the genre even matter? People whine so much about how Mass Effect 2 isn't an RPG, and you know what? I'm cool with that, 'cause it's better than damn near any game I've ever played.

You just generalized big time, and as far as I know reviewers are gamers(supposedly) just like you and me and we also have opinions like them about games we've been playing over the years. And no, it's not an overall better game when the premise was "our next big rpg" label when in actuality it's just a tps with power ups. To you it may have been better because of story-freshing elements, however to me it was inferior to the predecessor as far as game mechanics go and overall complexity of the combat and how they worked with the supossed rpg mechanics.

Yes and no. I wanted an improved shooting mechanic(which we got) and an improved mix of rpg with the combat(which we didn't). I believe the series stopped being the exception to "just another game" that we get ever so often. It's no longer a game "like anything out there" as you called it.

A TPS with power-ups? You just generalized one of the greatest games in recent memory as a ... TPS with power-ups?

the combat is pretty hard on insanity (which I beat twice btw) not sure where you're coming from, ME 2 overall was much more arduous on max difficulty than its predecessor.

An improved mix of the RPG with the combat? Like what? How would you have improved it? The way I see it is, that even though so many of you like to cry TPS when it comes to Mass Effect, it still fits the basic mold of an RPG, ie levelling up abilities, unlocking new ones, and role-playing through character interactions.

it is a shooter, with RPG elements, you may not like it, but it is still critically acclaimed is one of the best games this generation. let's leave it at that.

Bioware is a better developer.

I also think that RPGs are graded more harshly compared to action adventure games or pretty much any other genre of games. To rephrase that how come Planescape Torment only got a 9.0, that game right there is considered to be the best game of all time to some folk around here. Let's look at an action adventure game, Assassin's Creed 1. This game got a 9.0 here, even though it is one of the most repetitive and easy games I've ever played, (I absolutely love the Assassin's Creed series but you have to admit this is true.) An RPG labeled game couldn't get away with something like that. Let's see, Aion scored a 6.5 because for the chief complaint of it being repetitive. I think that an RPG has to bring more to the table to get good scores that another genre could get much easier. It is no surprise that Naughty Dog has a higher scoring game. But still Bioware is more impressive this gen, a 9,9 and a 9.5. Compared to a 8, and a 9.5. Bioware still wins this gen.

If your counting overall, Bioware is in an even bigger lead.
