You wouldnt be playing any pc games with linux on ps3 without software rendering notice how you see people running quake 2 on ps3 with linux. You cant access the gpu on ps3 with linux lol quake 3 requires a gpu and it prevents it from being played on ps3.

You can play games without a GPU, you cant play games without a CPU.

my 6150se intergrated runs quake 2 worse in hardware than my athlon x2 in software.

Video cards should be optional like in the 90s not required.

It's common sense that a powerful new console happens to be more powerful than your average PC out there.

PS4 will be more powerful than most average gaming PC's, get over it. 

Pc gaming was alot better when video cards were optional run software mode or hardware mode.

Only supporting hardware mode kills off sales of the game.

Can you show me a link that a PC will run without a video card. I've always thought even an ancient PC required the video card BIOS to boot first before the motherboard BIOS for the PC to post.

Realize this is just some fun trolling for you, but AMD has a grip on console gaming hardware and standards and that can extend to PC. APUs are the future. I have a 3870k APU that plays RE5 at console settings. 

Pretty soon the PC desktop, laptop, and console markets will be flooded with these things. Software rendering is pointless when any hardware can play current titles at least @ 720p/30fps, medium mix.

No graphics card drivers is the future of pc gaming.

idsoftware's rage wasnt even playable on pc when it launched because of buggy graphics card drivers.

SOFTWARE RENDERING=PLUG AND PLAY HARDWARE=INSTALL BUGGY ASS DRIVERS nextgenjoke

Software rendering would be relevant if games used ray-tracing or voxels.

But almost all games today use polygons and for those hardware (GPU) acceleration is better.
