umm.... wrong.

if you buy smart, 1 high end card at around the beginning of every generation(this gen 8800GTX)

you would be just fine playing most pc games on high for 5 years or so.

nVidiaGaMer

For 5 years? No Way. The 6800Ultra came out in 2004. Can it play Crysis on high 3 years after its release. NO. The 7800GTX came out in 2005. Can it play Crysis on high. Yes but with low frames. So the 8800GTX will most likely run games 5 years from now. But not on high settings.

Will a 8800GTX run games 5 years from now on high? No

Could a 360 or PS3 run that same game 5 years from now on high? No.

This isn't a fair comparison. If you are willing to play your console games with stagnant graphics for 5 or 6 years, then why can't PC gamers do the same? You make it seem as though playing on high is mandatory for PC gamers, yet you don't expect console gamers to need the same visual fidelity in their games.

Tad bit biased?

I've had my gaming PC, which was mid-range to begin with (has a 6600GT), for 2 and a half years now and the only game I've encountered that I cannot run is Crysis. What you define as "obsolete" and what really is inadequate for gaming are two entirely different things.

Too bad high isn't even required. Besides, you're expecting the most technologically advanced game out to run on high on last generation hardware? Its called a hardware EPOCH FFS. Find me an xbox that can run gears. Oh thats right, you can't, now shush,.

Um you have no life. 20,000+ posts. I bet your daily life 365 days a year 24/7 revolves around Sleep,Wake up, followed by eat, and play games then it continues over and over.

So instead of having a real debate, you have now resorted to insulting him since you couldn't come up with anything to refute his post.

I wondered how low a GS user could get in SW, and I think I just found it.

That is the lowest form of 'comeback' let alone reply I have ever seen.

If you cant even argue your point, and resort to somthing like tha, i'd hate to see what kind of person you really are.

I'd say about 14 with a Halo Complex.

I bought a geforce 6600gt and it lasted me for 3 years. Then i bought a geforce 8800gt and i expect this to last three years aswell. Consoles do have a shelf life of 5 years, but there are 0 improvements during those 5 years as the pc continually evolves. You do not have to upgrade your computer every siz months at all.

[QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]You wanna know why I like PCs better than consoles? Because I can use my Throttle Quadrant and Rudder pedals: *images snipped* While using the best TRUE Force Feedback stick ever made: *image snipped* And put my head in the game with TrackIR: *image snipped* All while playing in 7.1 Surround Sound on a screen bigger than your HDTV: *image snipped* How much? THOUSANDS.

Wow, nice throttle quadrant(and the other stuff beside it). Of course, you've also managed to remind me on how much I've spent on peripherals...(100 US$ give or take for my CH Pro Pedals USB, 110 US$ for a CH Fighterstick and DT225 USB combined, 333 US$ for a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar pre-modded with a FCC-1 force-sensing stick mod, and 206 US$ for a sweet Thrustmaster RCS + uninstalled CubPilot HS+ kit and TrackIR 4 Pro deal that I sadly don't have yet...as for the CH stuff, I plan to sell both the FS and PP once I have the RCS for rudder control.)...and all of that money hasn't really improved my pathetic dogfighting skills that much. Back on topic: Every time I try to argue with wok7, I seem to end up losing brain cells in the process. So, instead of giving a serious reply, I say this-wok7, has PC gaming raped your mother or something else crazy? I don't see why else you're so hell-bent on trying to make PC gaming look bad.

Those dual 7900GTXs outperform your console any day. "Outdated?" Sounds like your consoles are outdated.
