For 5 years? No Way. The 6800Ultra came out in 2004. Can it play Crysis on high 3 years after its release. NO. The 7800GTX came out in 2005. Can it play Crysis on high. Yes but with low frames. So the 8800GTX will most likely run games 5 years from now. But not on high settings.
Will a 8800GTX run games 5 years from now on high? No
Could a 360 or PS3 run that same game 5 years from now on high? No.
This isn't a fair comparison. If you are willing to play your console games with stagnant graphics for 5 or 6 years, then why can't PC gamers do the same? You make it seem as though playing on high is mandatory for PC gamers, yet you don't expect console gamers to need the same visual fidelity in their games.
