I have no problem with "early access" stuff or "golden weapons", or old maps being remade as exclusive pre order content but it really just annoys me when they actually cut content from the game in order to have exclusivity. Flechette ammo, Type-88 LMG, and a Flash Suppressor are all exclusively part of the Physical Warfare map which can be gained by pre ordering Battlefield 3 from certain UK sites.

Why EA? WHY? This isn't Battlefield 3 specifically, I'm talking about games in general too. Why strip down the overall value of the game and only give it to some people as a pre order bonus. These sites are from the UK, so basically there's no way of obtaining the Physical Warfare pack for many, many gamers. We lost a gun, and two weapon attachments for basically nothing. Horray :( And I know, it's always like this :-/ but it shouldn't be actual weapons! They could have at least also made them available to Battlefield Veterans a week after the release of the game!

BC2 had so little content this doesn't really surprise me. What's worse is the content BC2 had was lacking in polish, which is ridiculous. I don't think DICE has what it takes to put out a quality product, at least not under EA.

We might have different definitions of quality. I find maps that have glitchy geometry to be poor quality, but you may not. I find poor netcode to be an indicator of bad quality as well.

BC2, on consoles at least, had some serious lag issues for quite some time. They "fixed" it, but it still isn't as smooth as it should be.

On PC, it may be better, but I don't know 'cause I'm not buying another one based off my experience with BC2. Hopefully, there's a demo of the SP and MP for BF3 so I can check it out.

This practice is appalling and it is hurting gaming.

There is a thread on this over at Reddit and it is top of the subforum (with 540,000 viewers).

I contacted EA Support telling them about the outrage this is causing in their loyal community and how it will negatively impact their sales to market this way. The woman I spoke to is forwarding the link and my message to their senior management and I should be hearing from them in the next couple days.

Well it's EA. They shipped DA2 with something like 20 dlc first day.

EA rushes their devs, and their games show this. I know they've improved a lot since the beginning of this gen, but they still aren't very good. I can't really decide who is worse between Activision and EA. I guess EA produces better gamers, but Activision isn't as ridiculous with the online passes and preorder stuff.

I'm not preordering BF3, but I can't speak for all the brosephs jumping ship from COD.

EA will release the preorder content in a few months time as premium DLC. That's what they did with BC2.

This. Actually if you look at it COD (rehashed though it may be) does far less DLC crap than EA. Yes COD has $15 map packs, but EA has the online pass, gun DLCs, the "free" maps which are already on the disk, etc.

If this was any other game I would tell them to buzz off, but this is BF3; I have been a huge fan of the series since 1942 and im not going to let an issue like this stop me from getting the game.

LOL, and people think that EA is better than Activision. Bad Company 2 had barely any multiplayer content at all included on the main disc. The number of maps, game modes, and co-op play was terrible. This is why I keep saying that I am not that excited for BF3 until I see some more PS3 footage.

BF3 on PC looks great, but since EA is involved in the process my expectations are tempered.

While this DLC is an awful idea, let's not start crying or boycotting. We don't need a MW2 scale whinefest over a situation as small as this, especially when we have no idea of the actual functions of these said items(the type-88 could have the exact same stats as another LMG, for example; aka it could be a fancy reskin).

Besides, it's not like first day buyers and veterans haven't already had the advantage in Battlefield games anyway(looking at you BF2 unlocks.)

Ok, I was unsure about whether or not this would be early access to gear you'd otherwise unlock by leveling up. I assumed this would be the case as the alternative is crazy. But it's made pretty clear on this site that three of the four items will actually only be available through this Physical Warfare code.

I knew EA would **** it up somehow, they're the worst. But this... Something must've gotten lost in translation, because this would just be unfathomably crappy. Charging for multiplayer unlocks. Another industry first by EA?

Oh and day one, retailer exclusive content etc. That's bad too.

Really, though, that's just lame... And it's likely EA's decision. After the way the VIP thing was handled in Bad Company 2, I expected a bit better.
