I got my first gaming PC a few weeks ago. I spent a lot of money on it but something is stopping me from enjoying PC gaming. It's the damn M&KB. Playing games with it is horrible. I honestly can't understand why most people say it's better. Playing Crysis and Stalker Clear Sky with the mouse was so frustrating. Aiming was a nightmare. Maybe me being left handed makes it harder? IDK. I know I don't like it though. Anyone else prefer the controller?

'aiming was a nightmare'?

you probably had the sensitivity way too high or way too low

the aiming is far superior with M&KB than a controller

Its quicker, more accurate and more versatile (simply because there are more keys). So no, the mouse and Keyboard is, at least in my opinion, the way to go...

Just depends on the person. Some are better at and prefer M/KB while others are better at and prefer a controller. As far as myself I have gamed far more on PCs with M/KB just because of games like EQ, WoW, TF2 but overall I far more enjoy console gaming.

I prefer the trusty mouse and keyboard combo. It varies from person to person.

It all comes down to preference. Some games shouldn't be played with a controller and some games shouldn't be played with a KB/M.

I'm pretty sure anybody half-decent at video games can destroy the best FPS player in the world with a mouse/keyboard combo against controller.

There's nothing "fun" in using a controller either...

The point of controller and keyboard/mouse is to allow user input into the game... I honestly don't see how that could be "fun". Games make the fun factor, not the contoller LMAO.

oh and i suck at using kb/mouse i much prefer controllers but u will have a greater advantage over a controller when using kb/mouse

but like someone said before it could also depend on the person since i suck with kb/mouse i would have a better chance using a controller even if i loose the advantage going against people using kb/mouse

meh depends on the genre

imo

Consoles control better in: platformers, FPS's, action adventure

PC's control better in: RTS's, Strategy games, simulators (IE: Sims, and the Tycoon games), and puzzle games.

People say that once you use a keyboard and mouse for gaming, you never wanna use a controller again and I'll never understand why. Controller > keyboard+mouse because that's what's easier for me.

note the imo, I was raised on controller FPS's (some of my first ones were goldeneye, Doom and Perfect Dark) so Ive always been more comfortable with the controller over keyboard in that genre,

Nothing can compare to the Mouse and Keyboard in terms of customizability. Either you suck or weren't spending enough time making it right for you. The controller sucks compared to the M/KB, especially for shooters. There is nothing more accurate and responsive than a mouse.

Each have their strengths and weaknesses. I love using either at anytime (of course depending on what game I'm playing). Maybe the reason why you don't like it is becasue you suck at using it. No offense, it just takes a little time.

always preferred the controller to KB&M, I find the older PC FPS's a little too frantic, far too much jumping about for my liking. Sure, the controller is slower paced and less responsive, but it has the benefits of better character control, force feedback and a trigger, which you don't get with an ordinary mouse.

Logitech G15 keyboard, Logitech G9 mouse. I've only really played FPS's on my PC so far. Maybe I just have to spend more time with the KB&M. After using the controller for over 20 years the KB&M feels completely alien. It honestly feels like I'm not in control of the game. I feel disconnected from what's happening on screen and it is ruining the immersion for me. When I game on my 360 or PS3 it's like I forget I've got the controller in my hand. It just melts away and the game sucks me in. I'm not getting this same feeling from the KB&M.

There are pistol grip mice for the PC that have highly accurate dpi and a trigger for "increased immersion."

Its called practice...... Do you think i found it as easy to play COD4 on my 360 for the first time compared to me playing shooters on hte PC for years? no ... because I had alot more experiance with the mouse n keyboard. which is still far superior for everything except fighters.

think about snipers online. with a mouse, getting a headshot is as easy as minimizing a window. while with a control, it takes practice to line up shots and skill to make the difficult shots.

Heh, a blunt way of getting my point across. Did you really expect to pick it up and play it like a controller you have used for god knows how many years? give a controller to your parents... and see what they think, theyl probably hate it... because theyre not familiar or experianced with it... same rules apply.

What on earth are you talking about? you think sniping on a PC Shooter is point and click? lets use CoD4 as example... the recoil and "Steady Aim" is much harder to steady than its console counter part... you have to constantly keep moving/rotating to keep the think aimed even when STEADY AIMING... the hit boxes are smaller in most games and theres no aim assist. If you believe PC shooters are point and click then your sorely mistaken...

Game mechanics = Skill

Fighting Analog robotic movement = Nothing.
