[QUOTE="blues35301"][QUOTE="windsquid9000"]Either that or he just has extremely fuzzy memory of C1. One could write a book of the improvements that come with CE3.windsquid9000
Fuzzy memory? I've put over 100 hours into the game probably. I play it weekly, almost daily. It looks better than anything shown so far of Crysis 2. In every single way.

Every single way except the destruction, which lacks procedural damage and deformation. Oh, and the lighting that lacks deferred light probes, color grading, global illumination, and particle illumination... And you musn't forget the physics engine, and the new animation engine, and the vastly improved texturing, and the DX11 features, and the 3D that offers virtually no performance hit, and... Well, you know where I'm going. Aside from the everything, I guess Crysis 1 does look a lot better :P

You're saying all the console footage we've seen of C2 so far looks better than Crysis  HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH. We haven't even seen proper pc footage yet.

Hey, at least it doesn't look like this:

That was only in March, remember? Now compare it to the new footage:

hypoty

To be honest I don't think the second screenshot looks very visually appealing either.

Yeah, it's not the best, but the whole thing was moving so fast that it was impossible to get a decent quality shot without compression artifacts :/ It'll do, though - it's not terrible.

[QUOTE="Wasdie"]

[QUOTE="blues35301"] I have had some faith restored from a gameplay perspective thankfully but with console limitations and constraints in mind during this games development there's no way its going to be taking full advantage of all the pc tech available and be the best Crysis 2 that it can be. The technological standpoint of this game just won't be what Crysis 1 was. They could have done so much more with this game. Still easily my most anticipated game since its announcement. blues35301

Really? Watch this...

Yeah it has good reflections. But lighting wise nothing thats been shown in any trailer is even close to what we've seen in Crysis. I'm talking about atmospheric sunlight and sunshafts (god rays) and all that stuff....I still hold onto the belief that Crytek is yet to show us the PC version fully unleashed on maxed DX11 settings.

What footage have you been watching? It has god rays, they are quite easy to see right in the beginning of the trailer that the TC posted. And you will have to clarify by what you mean "atmospheric sunlight" but CE2 does dont have a global illumination system like CE3.

No, exactly. The quality of the visuals may be inferior, but the tech behind C2 is a generation ahead. Though, the pre-alpha build of C2 as represented by the 3D Trailer curb stomps the original in every way imaginable.

Seriously. Just go to page 15 and open the pics there. You can see very impressive indoor ilumination in the very first pic, godrays in the fourth picture, amazing lighting effects in the sixth, , the badass NS2 in the eight, surprisingly detailed environments, quite decent looking weapons (some slight low quality in some parts, specially with that rocket launcher).

Even though I completely disagreed with Gamespot's review of the game I'll humor you and just roll with it.

Again look at this trailer for Crysis 1. Is that ANY indication of the gameplay found in Crysis 1? Absolutly not. Why the hell should a Crysis 2 trailer be any different?

Oh yeah it's on the consoles. It has to suck.

Wasdie

What the gameplay in Crysis provides is about how smart about the use of the suit and weapons you can be:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ore80pmNEso

These guy is playing pretty much as in the trailer -not so choreophiated, but the trailer doesn't lie about the chances and options the game provides to you (except blocking a humvee with your bare hands)-.

If that's from the pc version, crysis 1 is in another league graphics wise. But it looks to be a console version, and it also looks to be an average fps. KZ3 will be the better futuristic "out of this world" fps game in 011

How is Crysis 2 an 'out of this world' shooter? It's set in NYC in 2023.

I don't agree with you at all, but that's your opinion and I'll respect it.

Looks awesome but the dialogue was so cheesyDiviniuz

Haha, yeah. Crysis 1 wasn't the epitome of smart writing either, though, so I'm just hoping for the same amazing gameplay that made the first game so great.

But as for Crytek, if you've read any of their interviews you'd know that they switched to a city because they were tired of jungle after jungle after jungle that they've been doing since Farcry and wished to switch it up and do an "urban jungle" which add's more verticality to it as well. Consoles had very little to do with that decision as shown by the fact that they already had an island and a forest scene working on consoles in the CE3 tech demos. Silenthps

You believe it to be true because they said so, do you really think they would tell two thirds of their audience that they held the game back? Crytek are trying to penetrate the console market, not annoy them. They are already saying the graphics were held back by consoles, don't want to add game design to that list. Plus if you had played the first game, you would note that the dawn scene replicated in CryEngine 3 was completely massacred. The other was a forest scene from a discontinued game.

I think most are just gitty that Crysis is coming to consoles and has been orienated around them. Most people's problems with Crysis 2 is that they are going one step forward and two steps backwards and they arent keeping the quality like they had from the 1st with current showings. They are turning Crysis into another halo or COD game with alot of scripted and linear events and places throughout the game. Another thing I see is going to happen is that the type of replay value from the 1st wont bein the 2nd.

No, That review was most likely a PR ploy. Crytek has been trying their best to get consolers into Crysis and better way then to have a consoler say nothing but praises to hype them up?

People keep talking about these previews, but as someone who played the game; it doesn't address all my concerns. For example Crysis is more than just the nano suit, it is how you take advantage of your suit and your environment that makes up the game play. I have heard a lot about the suit, but very little on the environment; outside of being able to kick conveniently placed cars at enemies.

I don't know how a city environment would handle the sort of destructible structures we saw in Crysis 1, it deals with skyscrapers.

Most Pc gamers Ive talked to know that the game is going to suffer because of the multiplatform/console orientation. People getting excited over a over the top trailer need not to fall into the trap.

De we live in different dimensions, are one of them aliens son? People are allowed to be excited about it no? Would you prefer if they made a boring trailer of a dude just walking around?

Whats wrong with appealing to the consoles right now, its new there too, would you prefer it to be ignored. And how is Crytek evil for doing so, and how is a console centric site praising crysis 2 bribery or something evil, how do we know everyone didn't do this with crysis 1, or starcraft 2, going to far, get your tinfoil hat.

Crytek has lied in the past. Ask all the people who bought Quad cores after Crytek recommended them for the game; how they felt when it was only dual core optimized? Obviously Crytek was paid off by Intel to promote their latest quads, despite the game not being optimized to use them, so they are not immune to spin.

I'm a PC gamer who played Crysis 1 and I am disgusted with all the hate and skepticism that PC "gamers" are giving Crysis 2. I can't wait for Crysis 2 to come out in March having amazing gameplay and graphics just to laugh at all the PC players who were sticking their nose up at the game in the beggining

Exactly, or the fact that crytek whined when Crysis didnt sell millions copies within the first two months expecting halo type sales. Then blamed piracy then retracted when their numbers came in after the first 3 months selling more then a million copies. they didnt take incount that every Pc gamer isnt like a console gamer where they tend to buy the next hyped game, nor the fact that Crysis requirements didnt play a role in people not buying the game until their Pc's were up to date. There are quite a few Pc gamers that are hoping, and watching this game. then you have others are like the average consolers where if the trailers and hype is good they are too excited. nothing wrong with any of that . But then you people that read between the lines and see things as they really are. Personally I've been burnt to many times hoping and hyping for a game or games and they turned out bad. Knowing from the past Pc to console games never turn out like their Pc roots and tend to be downgraded and not the same quality.

Nobody cant tell me that console limits in hardware and controls isnt going to affect the gameplay mechanics and create restrictions in level design and gameplay options. I bet they are just going to tell you what happened at the end of the Crysis and then zoom months to years later.

There is a difference between hate and skepticism.

I'll most likely buy the game. I'll not view it as a Crysis sequel; but try to approach it as a stand alone game. Because as a sequel it has fallen behind its predecessor in many areas, but as a separate game; it could still offer entertainment value.

The original Crysis also had those moments. The scale in C2 is smaller, but it's still pretty big and open.

I'm a PC gamer who played Crysis 1 and I am disgusted with all the hate and skepticism that PC "gamers" are giving Crysis 2. I can't wait for Crysis 2 to come out in March having amazing gameplay and graphics just to laugh at all the PC players who were sticking their nose up at the game in the beggining

nice to see the adoption rate of time machines is still going strong.

It looks like crysis 2 has a fair bit of freedom. To me, Having not played either, this looks like the better game. Crysis 1 looks a bit boring in the gunplay and fighting mechanics and this looks to be on a whole other level.

Yes Crysis had those moments ALL the time. You were often blocked by the sides of mountains, and if you swam more than a couple hundred yards out in the water you would be instantly killed. Onslaught was one of the only large levels, and even that was only "open" for about 2 miles till mountains forced you back into a tight area...I do not understand how you people think Crysis 1 had huge free-roaming like Just Cause 2 or something because IT DIDN'T.

I guess it can be considered somewhat of an advantage going into Crysis 2 having not played the first. As I have no measuring stick to put it up against. Going by what I have seen thus far, it looks to be simply a great game, regardless if it is inferior to the first one in any way or not. Looking forward to it.

I am OK with that. The gameplay itself looks nicely varied and smooth as silk in execution. Oh, and it is not bad eye candy either, lol. I am sure I would enjoy it all the same even if I had played the first one.

Well what do we know?

We know for a fact that the games design is being held back by consoles, because Crytek themselves have come out and said this.

We know for a fact that the scale from the previous game has been taken away, an accommodation for consoles memory limitations; forcing the game to be converted to streaming. Something the head of Crytek himself has said would change the fundamental intended experience of Crysis.

We know for a fact that the nano suit has been streamlined. The main fun of Crysis was switching suit powers on the fly in order to achieve interesting results, were as now they have combined the number of powers to force the player to choose between two modes effectively.

And for whatever particular reason, they have only shown the 360 version of the game, despite PC gamers being the original Crysis fans.

So there is a lot to not be happy about. It doesn't particularly help that console gamers who most likely never played the first game are telling us to shut up, because they personally find Crysis impressive in this held back state; and anything the original fans think is irrelevant to them.

Whole other level? Crysis always had these mechanics
