[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"][QUOTE="caseypayne69"]None of this video was actual gameplay. No ammo on scree, no map, no health bar. Pretty though. Looked like PC trailer.psn8214

Are you serious? Have you ever even played the original Crysis? The gameplay looks very similar. I'm guessing console only player.

Looks like they added a **** ton more animations, actually. :P

Yeah they did, but the gunplay looked like it played the same. Running looked the same, stealth looked the same, jumping looked the same. I'm not talking about the animations. Just the actual gameplay dynamics.

If its anything like Crysis, than no way it's Killzone level. It definitely looks improved in Crysis 2, but we need to see more.

psn8214

Are you saying that Killzone 2 had better gameplay than Crysis?

It had better gunplay.

I beg to differ.

[QUOTE="Advid-Gamer"]Seems to me that soon Pc gamers will have nothing to play since they seem to hate all the new games that are coming out. If this was a Pc exclusive I doubt there would be the same negative opinion here.AnnoyedDragon

If it was exclusive and this is what we got? You can be damn sure I'd be criticising it. Based on the material available, it is very different from its predecessor.

That said, if it was PC exclusive, it would likely be a very different game. Remember they are pretty much completely forgetting how the original game ended and starting from scratch, years later. A PC exclusive sequel would have probably continued from the cliffhanger in the 1st game, in which case being based on the same island; and living up to Crysis's environmental and graphical expectations.

Arguably the choice of location for Crysis 2 is down to cities being the perfect environment for streaming, which is what consoles specialize in.

The trick for fans of the original attempting to like this version is to approach it as a stand alone game. As difficult as it is, try to put aside that it is supposed to be a sequel to the first Crysis.

To be honest, that sounds kind of boring to me. It's the reason I was never planning to get Crysis 2 even though I enjoyed going through the first one once. But after seeing some screens recently, and now this trailer, I'm thinking I might get it after all. It actually looks more fun and exciting than the original to me, and the completely different setting should make it feel fresh again.

You can run longer, you can jump higher and farther, stealth now has "stealth kills" and they can be further expanded with modules. What more could you ask for? :?

Well, if you're cool with being wrong, I'm cool too. Killzone has far more weighty, natural, realistic feeling weapons, and when an enemy went down, he went down hard, spinning around riddled with bullets. In Crysis you got that weird impact sound, and none of the guns were as satisfying to use as the weapons in Killzone, plus the ragdoll was odd at times. Crysis did loads of things better than Killzone, but the gunplay was really not even in the same ballpark.

Err, I'm not asking for more. I think it looks great. I'm just responding to the guy who said it's not actual gameplay footage.

No, I read Dragonfire's post out of context and it looked like he was saying that those features were unchanged from the first game :P

Also killzone has some of the best annimation ever. The gunplay in killzone is second to none.

But looking at this trailer, The overall gameplay may indeed turn out better than killzone 3. It looks like you have alot more freedom of choice and movement.

Both look steller.

However, the ragdolls are the way they are, because I guess it's illegal in Germany to have ragdoll physics on human bodies.

I linked a youtube mod that would add some gameplay elements.

So basically you hate Crysis2 because it's not a rehash? ok whatever floats your boat. But as for Crytek, if you've read any of their interviews you'd know that they switched to a city because they were tired of jungle after jungle after jungle that they've been doing since Farcry and wished to switch it up and do an "urban jungle" which add's more verticality to it as well. Consoles had very little to do with that decision as shown by the fact that they already had an island and a forest scene working on consoles in the CE3 tech demos.

Yeah it's gunplay really was one of the best this gen, they are toning it down a bit in KZ3 to make it more accessible though, not the greatest news for me but I get why they are doing it.

I think the water you see in the trailer(ex:1:35) is a good pointer that this is console footage, or at least PC On lower settings. Crytek had talked about creating "visually accurate" reflections, yet we dont see that in the trailer.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3RwSpaPVLk

That must be the PC version (look at how fast the camera is moving).

Well using the suit as an apparent plot device, which is becoming bleedingly obvious. That's cool. Visually? Looks very nice. Everything else? Eh. Crysis was a damn unique game as far as shooters go, everything Crytek show of the second speaks volumes of a throttled manshooter, hell bent on the uninspiring scripted action we have seen abused since 1998. Which is an absolute shame. But hey the kicking things, and sliding looks cool.

Honestly there is nothing realistic to the damage model or weapons in Killzone - especially the way enemies take damage. It is very particularly stylised, and looks damn cool, and the feedback was great - weapons did have heft and oopmh, and the death animations and visuals of the helgast soldiers were fantastic. That being said realism in such a game would be uninteresting and not work whatsoever. Like a single bullets hitting a soldiers causing them to slump over and writhe on the ground, or jarring collapses compared to the beanbag like pirouettes of death complimented by fountains of blood. Wouldn't really fit with the whole blockbuster feel.

plus there would be no more of the sparks that kz2 applies gratuitously for bullet effects when bullets hit stuff.

It may be mixed versions, but mostly looks like console footage. There is quite a bit of screen tearing and at times I saw lower spec texture filtering (IE: only trillinear or 2x AF).

Ill regardless it's impressive, and considering the time that these shots came out vs the previous footage...they've had plenty of time to work on the actual engine.

Every scene has identical aliasing. Leads me to believe that it's PC at console settings like earlier vids that a Crytek dev confirmed was run like that. The 3D-realtime trailer looks a level better, and doesn't have aliasing like this trailer. Just my two cents. Could be wrong.:P

Crytek really laid the generic on thick this time. The graphics also seem very 'plasticy' to me, hopefully when I have my PC version cranked up to 11 I'll be impressed.

You must have insane standards or you miss the jungle setting or something... :| I thought the graphics in that trailer were great.

generic? looks amazing to me.

Every shooter is genaric.

There isn't a single shooter in the past 5 years that people haven't called genaric.

Don't get me wrong, it does too amazing, but it seems to be emulating the next blockbuster AAA explosion extravaganza shooter. It isn't surprising, since Crytek previously said they wanted more sales.

That's a bad thing?

If you want tactical gameplay, go play ArmA. The Crysis series isn't some groundbreaking, tactical shooter. It's a pure, blockbuster shooter with some larger levels. You can easily shoot your way through 90% of the campaign if not more.

It's foolish to think of Crysis as something it is not.

They are great, they just look a bit plastic to me. Crytek seems to have taken a more stylized approach in their visual design compared to the original Crysis, so that may be it.

You can't disagree Crytek has taken a different route compared to the original Crysis. I never saw Crysis as a blockbuster shooter in the same vein as the Halo or CoD games, it was different beast, not better but different. Judging from this trailer I'm not seeing a whole lot of that difference. It's not necessarily a bad thing considering it looks fun, since when was generic a negative connotation? I am hoping to be blown away when I max it out, though.

Please dont put Crysis in the same department as other FPS games.. Crysis stands out as the most refreshing FPS in recent years..the gameplay is unlike anything on the market..Its foolish to think that Crysis is just another blockbuster shooter

"If you put it all together, Crysis is just remarkable. This is a game that pushes the envelope in terms of both technology and gameplay and does so with aplomb. Crysis raises the expectations for every shooter to follow when it comes to graphics, interactivity, environments, immersiveness, AI, and gameplay. Quite simply, Crysis represents the first-person shooter at its finest, most evolved form."

Far Cry and Crysis were hardly blockbuster shooters. That doesn't make it tactical either. But hypoty is right, Crytek did lay the generic on thick. Instead of evolving the Crysis we've come to known, it looks like they're just re-booting it with a more broad appeal to attract more sales. And it's obvious that's exactly what they're doing. Is it a bad thing? Arguably. I'd rather have larger, more varied environments, with more vehicles and the such - you know - stuff Far Cry and Crysis both pushed for. This looks a lot more linear and a lot less unique.

The stylized design looks great and feels fresh. And the gameplay looks really fun. I think we might have a winner on our hands.

No it doesn't. Sure it was great but it was far from "revolutionary." Don't know if we played the same game.

You want a truely revolutionary FPS play some ArmA or World War II Online. Crysis had some unique gameplay that seems to have stuck (if you would read some previews and not just watch a trailer).

Do you really think Cryteck, of all of the developers, is just going to remake Call of Duty with the CryEngine and call it Crysis 2?

So it's bad for them to make a trailer featuring action. Would you rather have a few minutes of a guy sitting in the shadows doing nothing to promote your damn game?

Every single preview has said the same thing, the game offers tons of options and tactical gameplay just like the first. The suit abilities have been made easier to combine which only gives you more enhanced control of your character and opens up even more gameplay options. The levels are still very open, despite them being in a city. You don't need a jungle to beable to flank your enemies or suprise them.

Great trailer and the NIN song just makes it better. It is from the disc Fragile. And I think that could be a console version.
