I wonder if the pirates are waiting for the definitive version.

So yeah, this is very good news. Maybe now some enthusiastic gaming publications can stop releasing doomsday scenarios about PC gaming following the leak.

The PC version will get the worst of the piracy problem but rest assured the 360 version will get quite alot of downloads aswell. Hell, the PS3 version could be downloaded a decent amount of times aswell now.

I would buy Crysis 2 even if itcame witha $200 price tag. I don't care about a broken beta, I want the real deal now!!!

I feel bad for PC gamers right now. They're all seen as pirates first and gamers second. Sad..Zero_epyon

Playing that made me want to buy the full game right now, can't wait, runs so smooth in DX9, way better than the 1st. Plus a lot of things don't work.

And I'm paying 50 bucks instead of the usual 60.8)

No, I base that on knowing 4 out of the 4 people I know who downloaded it are also going to buy the real version (myself included). I bought Far Cry day 1, I bought Crysis day 1, I bought Warhead day 1, I will buy Crysis 2 day 1. Alot of us PC gamers used the leak to demo some levels, and honestly the PC community is WAY more excited for its release now than they were before. Its worth our money.

People pirate because they don't want to pay. PC games that had 90% piracy rates did not have a following surge of sales after those pc gamers "tried out" the game.

Isn't that just the beta? Either way, piracy isn't surprising anymore. Everything that is anything gets pirated nowadays unfortunately.

Regardless, I'm sure Crytek will still earn their profits, so it works out well at the end of the day.

They aren't dumb to consider every pirated copy a lost sale, they are happy with the sales they god and are investing more into PC gaming.

So yeah, a Crytek employee leaked the game, and now it's OMG PC PIRACY! Crytek should blame themselves, not the PC community. 360 games get leaked and pirated all the time yet nobody cares.

That's pretty much because Battlefield games don't really have single player campaigns. I'm sure if pirates could play online with their pirated copies of Bad Company 2, the sales numbers would be astronomically lower.

So? The first crysis sold 3 million. 10,000 is a drop in the well especially compared to other multiplat pc games like CoD

Black Ops pc had over 4 million pirated downloads. The piracy rate was over 80%. Yes that means a majority didn't pay for it.

I always think of this when I read about piracy

I'm not one to argue about putting sense into piracy, but a pirated game is not necessarily a lost sale, just a lost oppurtunity. There is no gaurantee that the game would've been bought/sold had it not been available to pirate in the first place.

While piracy is something to consider and a bit of a nagging fly, it's not much of a real excuse in my book to not release a game on a platform.
