Crysis as a game, is unimpressive, but on a technical level is beyond anything else...too bad i don't care at all about graphics on hyper HD resolutions.

That's fine. Not everyone have the same tastes.

And that my friend is one of the most intelligent comments in this threads about graphics.

Is not about graphics like some fanboys claim, is about the game itself.

That's an opinion.

The fact that I can still boot it up, after 2 years after initially playing it, and still enjoy stalking poor koreans, while killing them in bizarre and interesting ways, proves it's not just graphics. I actually prefer the gameplay over the graphics. To me, personally, it feels Next Gen. I miss features like being able to grab koreans by their throats, using them as human shields, or bowling balls against other soldiers, or not being able to switch to strength mode and jump over a strategically placed wall (invisible boundaries) in other games. Other current gen FPSs feel restricted compared to Crysis.

 I'm certainly not in the Crysis fanclub, and I assure you that I'm well past old enough to work, well compensated enough to own such a computer, and in fact have a computer that's faster than yours. But hey, if it's more comfortable for you assuming that people who disagree with you do so out of sour grapes, by all means, enjoy your fantasyland.

Other FPS-games feel unplayable after having played Crysis. Crysis is the only game that gives you enough freedom and choices. After three years I still play the game everyday.

I think there are others like me that REALLY want to play it because we like sandbox style fps's but we don't have a rig strong enough to run it. Can't wait for crysis 2 to come out on xbox :D

I won't deny is a nice game, but i didn't enjoy it that much, IMHO, Half Life 2 is way better, then again, is just me.

So it's been about 3 years since Crysis pretty much caused fissures inside the gaming world with it's cutting edge technology, but has it finally over stayed its welcome? Has the time finally come for it to step of it's throne, and let someone else sit upon this prestigious alter which us mere mortals here in SW seem to worship so much? WILL it ever be dethroned in our lifetime? Only time will tell. For now, he's a fitting tribute I made for the legend that is Crysis! Many hate it for being the never ending ammo for pure ownage in graphic debates, while some praise it because they're actually old enough to work, and purchase a decent enough computer to run it at decent settings. :P

Thank you for agreeing that without its pretty graphics there is nothing to enjoy. Without even meaning to, you confirmed what I've been saying for 3 years... Crysis is nothing special without its pretty graphics... and yeah, I have the money to buy a nice gaming rig... my current rig is enough to run Crysis on Very High at 25-30 fps... so save yourself the time of pretending that I havent played it, or have played it, but on low settings.

I played it on medium when it first came out and it was still one of the best FPS games i've played. So, why don't you save yourself the time of going into every Crysis thread and talking about it being nothing special outside of the pretty graphics?

What was so bad about its gameplay? I find it odd how in every thread about Crysis someone says 'CRYSIS IS JUST GRAPHICS MAN ITS GAMEPLAY IS POOR' yet they fail to elaborate. Its always the same bland statement with no substance to it.

Honestly whats the point of this thread instead of giving another crysis thread? Say crysis 2 comes out and its the next "graphics king" game taht will be duscussed here. What will be the point?

It seemed mediocrwe to me too. I started playing, shoot a few bad guys here and there and then it felt preety much meh. You could say that as a first person shooter its not very strong. It felt like the gameplay could have been more polished, especially the shooting could feel better, more fluid. But to me it felt like the developers did not care to make it good. They just threw some suit functions and let you mess around with them. But for such a overpraised game, i felt that both combat and ai were pretty mediocre. It just does not compete with fps like half life, fear, deus ex, system shock 2, quake 2, doom 3, cod 4, arma 2, stalker, killzone 2 or 3rd person games like uncharted and various other games. But whatever, thats my opinion, i just wanted to say that i agree with you and all those people who say its just graphics and no gameplay.

I've stated numerous times why I like the game, you can go find those posts if you want a more in depth explanation. I've been playing FPS games for years, i've played a ton of them, everything from Time Splitters to ARMA. None of them have delivered the same experience as Crysis: A dynamic FPS with very interactive and open level design, that allows the player to change their play style on the fly so they can tackle an objective in a number of different ways. Also, I've never made Crysis into being something it's not, i've only ever told it like it is.

I find it hard to believe that anybody still plays Crysis (unless they haven't played it before). So seriously, get over it. It was and is still graphics king but console gamers are talking about new games, not old ones.

Doesn't compete??? Your list just makes no sense, you put Half Life, COD4 and Killzone 2 in the same list.

How is there no gameplay in Crysis? And you then say there's gameplay in Killzone 2???? and even worst put it in a list with Deux Ex... Yeah,

If there was something that was a clear technical feat like it, then I would agree. But there isn't. Sure there is ArmA II and whatnot, but eh, thats how it is.

Lol, Crysis has better gameplay than COD and Killzone combined. Anyone saying otherwise, proof it! What makes the gameplay of those better than that of Crysis?

See what I did there. My opinion is just my opinion, but yours is JUST yours.

I see a constant praising of the game around here, so I feel the need to inform the populous of SW's that Crysis is not the be all SUPREMO GAME they might think it is... if no one challenged those who praise it, then everyone who hasn't played it, would be under the impression that its impossible to dislike the game... and thats simply not true.

Anyone thats not a Graphics Whore, knows the truth about Crysis. There is nothing inherintly wrong with the games mechanics... its just the game has NO personality.... no SOUL if you will. I'll take Bioshock, Halo or CoD over Crysis and day of the week.

Using CoD right after saying Crysis has no soul basically invalidates the whole arguement. Love it or hate it Crysis offers quite a bit of variety, and the amount of ways you can take on any one objective is almost second to none. Gunplay is also very, very strong, and assuming you're willing to play on a higher difficulty, the AI can be quite intelligent. You can hate on the story and lame voice acting all you want but the gameplay is amoung the best.

I`ve never been a big fan of Crysis` visuals and I run the game on high with ease. But I`d take it over the shooters you just listed. Answer me this: Since when do shooters all of a sudden need a "personality" to be exceptional? That whole part is just straight up bull**** if you ask me.

Crysis is exceptional through its design and mechanics. If that`s not enough these days then I don`t know what is anymore.

Anyone thats not a Graphics Whore, knows the truth about Crysis. There is nothing inherintly wrong with the games mechanics... its just the game has NO personality.... no SOUL if you will. I'll take Bioshock, Halo or CoD over Crysis and day of the week.

mo0ksi

I`ve never been a big fan of Crysis` visuals and I run the game on high with ease. But I`d take it over the shooters you just listed. Answer me this: Since when do shooters all of a sudden need a "personality" to be exceptional? That whole part is just straight up bull**** if you ask me.

Crysis is exceptional through its design and mechanics. If that`s not enough these days then I don`t know what is anymore.

When anyone says a game doesnt have soul or personality replace it with this. 'I can't really think of a reason for disliking the game so I will make some vague statement about it lacking a personality''

I find it hard to believe that anybody still plays Crysis (unless they haven't played it before). So seriously, get over it. It was and is still graphics king but console gamers are talking about new games, not old ones.gamebreakerz__

For me it is. I've only actually played it since November 2009. I ignored it all that time since launch because of all the hate heaped upon it in the user reviews.

Then I downloaded the demo and found out I actually liked the game. I've made it a point to never look at user reviews anymore and just stick with official reviews since any fanboi* schmoe with an agenda could post a false review.

*That goes for both fans and haters.

User reviews are generally horrible. Its either someone who gives every game a 10 or 9 or someone who underscores games because they don't like it. Finding decent reviews is hard.

Why do you keep re-iterating that Crysis isn't what I say it is? You really seem determined to try and prove to everyone how much you like Crysis' gameplay and find it to be something special.

I'll take Bioshock, Halo or CoD over Crysis and day of the week.moistsandwich

Cept, i'm not the one going into threads clearly focused on graphics in order to go completely off topic and talk **** on the gameplay. The only thing i'm doing here is defending the game against your empty statements. You can dislike a game, there's nothing wrong with that, but If you're going to criticize it you need to explain yourself further than just "nothing special". Especially when you come off as if you're trying to push your opinions as facts.

Loved how you stated this, "My opinion is just my opinion, but yours is JUST yours", then turn around and use this matter of fact statement "anyone thats not a graphics whore, knows the truth about Crysis." Note the word I put in bold.

Ok, so you've decided to just do the opposite of those claiming that it's impossible to dislike and state that other than it's graphics there is literally nothing to enjoy? You know, it's sort of common sense that not everyone is going to like the same games, there isn't a game in existence that is impossible to dislike. I appreciate your work in trying to inform everyone of this revelation, it was really kind of you and all, but i think you can retire now.

You're not challenging anyone who's praised it because you haven't really elaborated on any points you've made about the game. You've stated it "lacks personality" and that it is "nothing special". Those aren't exactly informative by themselves, i'm awaiting some further explanation there. I don't really see how it's lacking personality though. It's gameplay is unique and strays from the standard FPS design we've seen for years. I'd say it has plenty of personality.

The only game that gets talked about more than it gets played. People need to move on.

Silverbond

If lems and cows accpeted their inferior place in the graphics debate instead of calling every PS3 exclusive better looking than Crysis, we would be able to move on.

Not every PS3 owner says that PS3 exclusives are better looking than Crysis

Oh man, i love these topics.

They are like a parody of themselves.

"-Hai, camel

-Hai, sand

-So do you think sun has been around for too long today?

-Yeah, totally bro

-So do you wanna like, extinguish it?"

End of an equally nonsensicaldialog.

Lmao.

It has no soul or personality?

If you subjectively cherry pick, neither do most games by that logic.

Halo is arrogantly wound up its own hide in Lore relying on a copy pasted formula

Half Life merely is a scripted fabrication of a personality that wishes it was just as much as a first person dystopian soap than action game

COD is an uninspiring cash in that is so hilariously wound up as macho military circle-jerk that it is almost a parody of itself

Bad Company 2 wishes it was Call of Duty targeting exactly the same audience

Bioshock leads the players to believe there is actual intelligence under the surface while its completely rides off System Shock 2, aware that the vast majority its targeted shooter audience is ignorant to it

STALKER relies on random occurrences in the A-Life a.i. completely to create a world that isn't just another A to B walk and shoot that isn't very good.

Reality is all these games have personality and are of course, all good games.

If you don't like it fine.

However this doesn't effect the games quality, and what specifically - Crysis has achieved; be it production or game design.

That statement did sound abit condescending, but you can't deny that half the haters of Crysis have definitely never even played it. And I'm planning to upgrade my rig soon, when C2 arrives. :)

Handles better than any console shooter boy.

nah KZ2 handles far better and mag and R2

Crysis has achieved nothing, except pretty visuals....I swear this forum is filled with the wives of the devs or something.

Level design, was an afterthought... I feel like thats being generous. I would dare say, there wasn't any thought put into it... the entirety of the development time seemed to be spent on how "realistic" they could make it look.

I can't believe how many and how ridiculous the graphic whores are around here, that they are completely blinded by pretty visuals, into believing that Crysis is something its not.

The story doesn't get more bland and generic than Crysis' story... I don't even like saying "story" when Crysis is involved, because its about as developed as Doom's.

I don't see why I need to be specific about my complaints, when its just easier to say what is good about the game.... since the list is so much shorter...

Crysis has good gameplay, and super pretty graphics.... everything else is "BLEH"

Enemies = boring

lvl design = what design? devs give big area full of trees, grass & water.... the level's are not well paced, at all.

story = LOL, what?

Characters = ummm.... some military guys with cool suits. Nobody to care or give a **** about.

Sound = okay I guess, nothing great, nothing to complain about.

Find me a shooter that does what Crysis does;

Putting the player in a unique sandbox with a variety of tools in each level, as well as giving them interchangeable abilities on the fly, that not only allow greater options but also allow the player to completely change their playstyle on the fly, in which the gameworld reacts without breaking game pace.

Please do.

Otherwise the level design up until the poor last third was outstanding, the characters and story were there to hold the gameplay together and keep it in context (like most shooters, be it Halo or more specifically GeoW), and the sound design was also great - the score was particularly impressive.

Personally the visuals are an additional treat and enhance the immersion, whereas more importantly the technology behind the game helps enhance the design.

While the story is run of the mill, I actually found the characters pretty cool. And no ones claiming it to be the supreme master game race thingy. And you state graphics, you don't need to play Crysis on absolute maximum, hell, when I first played it I played it on high to keep my FPS ay a sturdy 30fps and STILL loved it. Only after did I start using configs to make it as pretty as possible. It's like saying Killzone 2 would be a terrible game if it had PS2 graphics.

People come up with whatever rational they can think of to take Crysis out of the picture.

PC gamers get accused of being elitist and arrogant; but what better fitting words are there for a group of people who actually think consoles should surpass technological progress. They want Crysis gone so they can try to claim the title with a console game on their platform of choice, never mind even cross platform games like Crysis 2 promise to push the PC platform.
