Yeah true. I find it easier than Dark Souls, but I have spent many hundreds of hours on it (on all 3 territorial versions, it's actually really interesting how different the online communities are in different versions of Demon's Souls), so I know that game like the back of my hand by now.

_Matt_
I havent had much reason to dodge anything yet. Probably changes later on in the game, but Ive just been either staying out of range of everything or blocking.

Can depend entirely on the build. I personally prefer blocking to dodging if I have the right shield and build, bt if I am using say my faith build with a blessed great axe in both hands, it's much more advantageous for me to roll dodging their attack, and following up with the very dangerous area of effect attack that occurs after a roll with that axe.

True. I really need to try different builds in these games. I just love the basic Knight (longsword & shield) build so much though >.>

Might get the ICO collection actually. Played ICO and SotC to death on my PS2 and on PC with emulators. Would like to see the revamped SotC version. That and Dark Souls are tied as my favourite games of all time

_Matt_

i think you'll like demon's. being a souls veteran, you won't go through the soul crushing process of learning the pace of the game, and since demon's punishes players for dying FAR harder than dark, it tended to be a splitting point. it's got a much gloomier atmosphere, and i feel like some levels in demon's were better than anything in dark because of that (though overall dark trumphs it because demon's had some really shitty areas, like all of world 2)

I agree with this. Though Demon's did punish more for dying than Dark, I did feel the Demon's atmosphere was a little nicer.

While there were some shitty areas, I would say World 2 was fine, it was World 5 that I didn't like at all

I don't like either worlds :P the other 3 are superb though.

I highly recommending playing around with builds on your next playthrough, it can change the dynamics of the game completely. Tank faith build ftw :D

Same lol. I think i'll try a spear build for a change. Spellcasters bore me, bow is too situational, sword and shield is my personal favorite.

Axes are fun :D

Spears are good, especially when can attack while still using a shield.

True, it was 10pm in london so I have no idea what he means.

SaltyMeatballs

So that's like 17 hours ago? Hmm not sure. Maybe he was just referring to the IGN thing.

Here's what it says for me: 6:03 AM - 11 Apr 13 from Wandsworth, London.

Today is the 11th and I am in London so I assume that is the correct time, so hopefully something comes today.

Oh, fair enough then, I thought I had read on Twitter that that Tweet had been posted late on 10th April from London, rather than 11th... either way, I do hope for more info soon :D

6am 11th in London is still the 10th in many parts of the world, including some parts of America. So maybe that is where the confusion lies.

Not in my case unless Twiter itself was going by American time... I'm British but living in Italy (so 1 hour ahead of UK)... Oh well, not going to complain :)

I think the new stuff is just that new trailer we were shown. It leaked on IGN spain's site after the 12 minute footage went up. The rest just haven't uploaded it yet I think. In other words, it's nothing great

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] HE SAID ACCESSIBLE, EASIER, AND CASUALLY. CASUAL SOULS 2 CONFIRMED.BrunoBRS

I hope they don't get rid of all the backtracking, I thought that was great in DS1. You felt a very big connection to Firelink that way and it let you know the lay of the land a lot more.

i wouldn't mind if a few key locations had warping from the start, or some other kind of easily accessible shortcut. they could take hints from metroid, and interconnect the world in a way that once you get a new tool, you can backtrack from that point much faster.

the first time I had to get back from killing the spider queen to firelink shrine, getting back up was a pain in the ass.

I honestly have no problem with a quick travel function as long as we have to make it there in the first place and do something meainingful, when games just hand me it, it really kills my suspension of disbelief.

gamespot preview. clears up some stuff from yesterday's video, offers some insight on some new, interesting stuff (more puzzle-like stuff), and overall does a great job at getting you hyped hyped hyped.BrunoBRS

Still not liking the whole warping ability from the start thing, but I will have to see or hear more in detail about it. Travelling aroundone huge giant map that all connected before felt amazing, I don't want that to disappear, going back and pummeling guys who beat you before felt great and really pushed that sense and feel of progression.

This part sounds awesome though "Bosses no longer stay at the end of levels, waiting for you to end their lives. They set out to hunt you, and fight you, when you least expect it, forcing you to stay alert lest you die from an unexpected strike." and they mentioned before you can kill that chariot dude way before you're meant to like the end in MGS3

It was PC, consoles don't do Ambient Occlusion like that

And the creator of the PC mod said it looked the same as the AO he modded for DS1 (man I repeat myself a lot lol)

I'm pretty sure that was X360 footage, Because if that's how the PC game actually looks like then *vomits*, Any kind of Ambient Occlusion can be done on consoles. And I'll enjoy the game no matter how it looks like. :)

lol it was confirmed to be PC footage. Now what?

Whereas the PC version of Dark Souls came out months after the console versions, Dark Souls 2 will launch simultaneously on all platforms. The hands-off demo of Dark Souls 2 that we saw was also running on PC hardware, as well.

Another great interview courtesy of the GAF

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/400577/previews/die-hard-from-software-talks-dark-souls-2/?page=3#top_banner

"We understand that a lot of fans took the word 'accessible' and translated it to 'it will be easier'," he said. "We apologise for casually using the word".

From Software's true intent was muddled in translation. This time, Tanimura and Namco Bandai producer Tak Miyazoe are clear and precise with their words: "There's no intent for us to make the game any easier."

"At the same time, the goal isn't to make Dark Souls 2 more difficult, just more rewarding," he continued. "What we meant by accessibility was streamlining a lot of the so-called tediousness that was in Dark Souls to make sure we can trim the fat and directly deliver the pure challenges and emotional aspects we want to communicate."

Streamlining, trim; more flammable words, but this time better explained: "For example; having to backtrack in Dark Souls and having to do all that travelling. Warping was only available in the latter half of the game, which seemed a little bit useless."

"One thing we do focus on is that no matter the kind of deaths they experience, players should understand the reason they died. Killing players is easy, you can just make an enemy strong or use surprise attacks, but it's important to allow the player to learn about their deaths. That is a fine balance, but we always keep in mind that it isn't unfair, we make sure to add a reason to each of the situations in the game."

This game sounds like it will be amazing

"One thing we do focus on is that no matter the kind of deaths they experience, players should understand the reason they died. Killing players is easy, you can just make an enemy strong or use surprise attacks, but it's important to allow the player to learn about their deaths. That is a fine balance, but we always keep in mind that it isn't unfair, we make sure to add a reason to each of the situations in the game."

This game sounds like it will be amazing

I hope they don't get rid of all the backtracking, I thought that was great in DS1. You felt a very big connection to Firelink that way and it let you know the lay of the land a lot more.

i wouldn't mind if a few key locations had warping from the start, or some other kind of easily accessible shortcut. they could take hints from metroid, and interconnect the world in a way that once you get a new tool, you can backtrack from that point much faster.

The backtracking didn't bother me either, if anything it just showed off the ingenious game world design. There was a lot of content, and the game world felt large but you could get pretty much anywhere in 10 mins thanks to the way it all linked together. In any case it was fun to go back and rampage through the enemies that kicked your ass so badly when you first went through an area.

Making it easier I don't mind, removing it would be bad though.

Just nothing like Skyrim what once you get there you can instantly travel between locations. Shortcuts like you said would be nice, but DS1 already had some of them anyway

the first time I had to get back from killing the spider queen to firelink shrine, getting back up was a pain in the ass.

I honestly have no problem with a quick travel function as long as we have to make it there in the first place, when games just hand me it, it really kills my suspension of disbelief.

a pain? why? there's an elevator near the bonfire that leads to valley of drakes, which in turn leads to new londo, which in turn leads to firelink. it takes like, 5 minutes at most.

eh, I was having a bit of issue with the jumping and fell to my death on that stupid rotating elevator.

Then those poison dart guys killed me because I had no spider shield, nothing to quell the poison. yeah it was my first playthrough, so.

some places, like anor londo (and consequently the duke's archives) were very isolated from the "main web" of places, if they use more shortcuts a la undead parish elevator, to the point where warping isn't necessary because just a few minutes of walking has the same effect, i'd be pretty happy.

Confirmed that the PC is the lead platform and that it will do 60fps, consoles are still gonna be 30 but they said there will be no drops whatsoever in it. It's a new engine apparently (likely just updated) and it's not next gen

Had to make a new SW topic about it cos it's lulz worthy :P

Still not liking the whole warping ability from the start thing, but I will have to see or hear more in detail about it. Travelling aroundone huge giant map that all connected before felt amazing, I don't want that to disappear, going back and pummeling guys who beat you before felt great and really pushed that sense and feel of progression.

or sometimes you'd give up on some sidequest or whatever because that meant spending hours backtracking through easy enemies.

It has it's perks and negatives for sure, but which outweighs the other will be the deciding factor. It elminates tedium, but is that always a good thing?

it depends on how they implement them. like i said, having warps from the beginning, but just to key locations, and more emphasis on shortcuts that need to be triggered one way before being used both ways would definitely be an improvement.

Graphics and animations look great from what I've seen. Torch mechanic could be interesting as well. Would love to see more on updated game play mechanics and if they're actually going to have a proper tutorial/help guide. My biggest gripe is that FROM doesn't tell you what any of the stats or some game play mechanics actually do.

Oh I agree. I think it would be good however that players don't have to consult it to figure out what something like poise is though. There's nothing wrong with them fleshing out what the stats do and what certain advantages are given for increments.

Agreed part of what made Dark Souls amazing was how a lot of areas were so connected that traveling became relatively easy with the numerous amount of short cuts. I'm sure they'll handle warping like they did in Dark Souls though where you can only warp to a limited number of spots on the map.
