Are you actually trying to say that by taking away used / rented options, devs won't get more money?kontejner44No, I did not that. I said that gaming can reach a certain market thanks to the existence of used games sales.

The same could be said about piracy.
The same could be said about piracy.MograineIf no money is spent, I don't think it can be considered a "market".
Then you should learn about eastern Europe and underdeveloped countries.MograineThat's different. I was talking about people spending money on this industry. That's what I was talking about when I said market.
In 2008 EA buys Bioware and Pandemic for $860 million, which they can't really afford, then the year after they buy Playfish for $275 million which they again don't really have the money for.
Then they have the stomach to blame used games as the big problem in the industry and why they aren't profitable :|
Tell me again why I should care about the big bloated megapublishers that can't keep their own economy in check?
I guess we should shutdown any car dealership who sells used cars. I mean.. GM isn't making money off used car sales right? and they're in trouble.. we gotta help them out! only buy new! shutdown those dirty rotten used car dealerships!fastrFunny thing, that. Aren't most used car lots run by factory-authorized new car dealers? And aren't a lot of those used cars in fact trade-ins toward the purchase of a new car?

The devs should get a cut of used game sales, its kinda unfair to me that they get nothing and all the money goes to middlemen. If you all were devs, you prolly would feel the same. As for publishers, thats kinda a different situation...almost as bad as middlemen.
[QUOTE="treedoor"]not really, there is very little gaurantee that people will actually switch to DD, digital downloads only make up 15% of the market, if you went digital download only now it would destroy the industry, most people still don't have a stable internet connection, not to mention people like me and everyone i know will stop buying games if they go DD, we are not sheep you know, just because the industry sets the standard is no guarantee that we will follow it, or that we can follow it, the PSP go was DD only, and that was a disaster.Well, hopefully he hops on board the Digital-Download-Only train.
I mean I don't really get why these devs complain about it when they have the power to change the way the industry does business.

Exactly, count me and my entire gaming family out the minute it goes DD only. Many people I know are already tired of being ripped off by this industry.A move like this could snowball into the next video game market crash easily.

Steam is DD only, and pretty much hailed as one of the saviors of PC gaming. A lot of people hate it, but a lot of people love it too. And honestly, consoles seem follow the path tread by the PC a gen earlier. Just as the consoles hopped into online with both feet years after it was solidly entrenched on the PC, it's about time for it to start rolling out your direction. :DOne could compare buying a used game to downloading one in a torrent on a pc. Sure, no money is exchanged, but someone had to have bought the game first whether it be console or pc to either sell it, or put it out as a torrent. If we are gonna attack torrents, we may as well attack used game sales. Of course, mnay, many people can download one game in a torrent, whereas only one person can buy a used game at a time. So I guess it's not really the same at all. I don't download torrents of games at all, but I thought it was something just to bring up.
If devs dont wont ppl to rent games then they should make stuff worth buying. Stuff thats lasts more then 8 hours. LIKE TH OLD DAYs
Respawn-d
this is fail, old games depended on trial and error gameplay, games today are bigger content wise.

nope. many pirated games are put online weeks before the game is even in stores meaning that no one bought it.
The industy needs to set up it own retail chain that sells games at wholesale prices.

They are most likely by next gen going to destroy the used and rental game industry as a whole.. By forcing registration of a particular product through a cdkey lilke pc games do now.. Meaning your copy will be worthless for resale because you can only use your cdkey one in registering to yoru account.
