I don't think I could buy a better TV if I wanted to. Firstly because CRTs are inherently better than LCDs and I have a very nice HD CRT. Secondly because my CRT is so massive that I couldn't get it out of my basement if I tried. If only it was a little bigger and did 1080p rather than just 720p/1080i...

scoots9
What CRT TV do you have? If its a Sony XBR 960, it's better than any flat panel display ever made, except perhaps the Pioneer Kuro.

[QUOTE="locopatho"] Is the WiiU a next gen console, coming out 7 years after the 360? Yes, it is. Why are you happy with Nintendo barely matching last gen machines :?

ActionRemix

I really don't care about the specs of the console because I think they are decent.I only have a 720P tv.

Today we have confirmation from one of your standardbearers that he doesn't know what he's talking about. If you're going to insist that it's not a big deal if 720p 30fps is the standard output for Wii U games, you should experience 1080p 60fps before you deride it as a "slight improvement."

Here's a 40" 1080p TV for $350:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26%23153%3B---40%22-Class---LCD---1080p---60Hz---HDTV/2620821.p?skuId=2620821&productCategoryId=abcat0101001&id=1218340598798

While you're at it, ditch those composite cables for HDMI.

http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Ultra-Ethernet-Certified-Available/dp/B0019EHU8G/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343237050&sr=1-1

I shudder to think that some of you are Wii-only and game at 480i.

P.S. Some of you should get some f-ckin' glasses!

http://www.lenscrafters.com/

i would never buy that POS dynex tv.

Probably if you press your nose against the screen. But I understand the need of people to justify their purchase. You will find 720p TVs having a better picture than a 1080p one and the other way round of course. I'm currently looking into buying a new TV because my 32 inch one seems kind of small now. After long comparisons 1080p is just not worth it and I'm going for a 51 inch 3D TV from Samsung for 600 Euro instead of the 1080p one for 2000 Euro. In the shop my eyes don't see a difference when I'm standing just a foot away but I'm sure yours would notice enough to justify a 1400 Euro price difference.

HDTV's in 1080p are NOT nearly 1000 dollars unless someone wants to be a complete douche and buy the most expensive brand which would be the same as any brand HDTV; of course considering the difference of refresh rate and such.

You're getting the PC gaming world confused with the real world once again; which is typical of hermit mentality.

And if you're gaming just fine on your CRT playing Wii...well...Duh! Wii's only 480p with tricks to upscale it to 1080i. This would mean that on a CRT, it would be right at home and even better in progressive scan mode.

Did you get the 51" 5000 series plasma? the Samsung D5000 series 51" plasma for like £500 had a picture comparable to the £2000 46" Samsung LED flagship (D8000)

It's not all about resolution. When I bought my TV a couple of years ago I was on a bit of a budget and decided to go for the 720p TV with better colors / blacks over a low quality 1080p TV.

I don't own a TV. I use a 100" projector that orginally cost $5000 but got it on sale (75% off!). If I were to go over to the dark side and buy a TV.. I would have probably bought a used Pioneer Kuro KRP 500-A.

Why? :p

Will any projector work for console gaming or do you need a high end one(I know nothing on the subject)?

Any projector will do gaming perfectly. I normally recommend the Optoma HD20 sub-$1000 projector, it arguably has the best bang for buck picture (picture size + picture quality vs price = HD20 trumhs nealy anything). I'm sure $500-900 projectors that are 720p will give you a decent gaming experience but the ~ $1000 HD20 is your best bet IMO. Of course, the more you spend, the better and more epic your experience. I've never had a friend over who hasn't dropped their jaw after seeing the opening seen of The Dark Knight on blu-ray on my 100 inch screen lol.

Bowers & Wilkins DM 685 front channel speakers.. rest of my 7.1 surround consists of the KEF KHT 3005 package.

Minus the Yamaha, because I have a Denon AVR 1911 receiver:

I'm assuming you asked me what I was using. But if you're asking for advice on what speakers I recommend I could suggest a few if given a budget.

Oh and when it gets late I use my Denon AH-D5000 headphones:

It's not noticable because it's probably not even outputting a 1080p stream. Usually stores run an image through a splitter so all of the TVs have the same image. It saves them money, but it destroys picture quality. If it's broadcasting TV, then there's no hope of it being 1080p.

Kind of funny because I have 32in 720p television. I love the thing, because it makes a great monitor and works great. I cant let the thing go, because HDTVs are so cheap now I would be lucky to get $125 and in 2 years I have had not one problem with it. I will be getting a monitor soon though, might risk getting one of those Korean 1440p monitors or just get a cheaper 1080p monitor under $200.

How about about $20 that's how much I payed for a Sony Trinitron 34" 1080i Widescreen HD CRT fantastic image quality better then pretty much any lcd t.v insane price to performance going on here! Altough yeah for buying brand new t.vs $1000 seems about right where the real bang for you buck plasma are priced at.
