[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="Nintendownzyou"] So you're basing the entire world off of Japan's sales. Nice. Shattered007
The gap is only going to increase in Japan. I'm not sure why anyone thinks differently. The rest of the world exists but Sony gets a free million + sales every year from there uncontested. His reasoning is a little flat but its not unreasonable.
So since Sony sells more in Japan we should automaticaly assume that it's killing the 360 outside the USA, dispite the fact that the PS3 has yet to brake the 5 million lead that Microsoft had before the system launched it 2006. Furthermore, we are then to believe that it's by 1 million YTD?Why do you keep pulling this "5 million lead" out of your arse? It's simply not true. All you can seem to attempt to do is fabricate things to support your non-factual arguments. MS claimed it had shipped 10.4 million units by the end of 2006. It's impossible for the PS3 to have shipped 5 million units in it's first month and a half of being on the market. :lol: In short, MS started with at minimum a 7-8 million lead
[QUOTE="Shattered007"]
In other video gaming news, the 360 outsold the PS3 4,770,000 to 4,334,500 YTD for 2009
Thought this was implied buy the Sony fanboys don't like it when you don't say NPDs or US because right now all the care about is Media Crates and some weird notion that Europe= 1,000,000+ a month in sales for Sony.
In other "video gaming" news, the PS3 outsold the 360 6,649,899 to 4,714,735 YTD for 2009 in the U.S. and Japan ALONE according to NPD and Media Create.
Selective numbers can be fun, but I prefer the whole truth. Sorry mang, I'll try not to own your mind so hard next time.
Yep that blew my mind much like how Microsoft is still reporting a 6-8 million lead over Sony dispite these numbers you have from the NPDs and MC. What's even weirder is the fact that no one can explane to me how this is with the PAL regions apperantly reporting PS3 is saling more. It's like the LSD of system wars. Please sir...don't "Blow my mind" again...Lack of logic hurts. Vgchartz, which is notorious for undercounting ps3's sales, has the gap at 5.45 million. 37.28 for 360 and 31.83 for ps3 while last year at this time they had 360 pegged for 27.06 million and 19.23 for ps3 for a gap of 7.83 million. So if you do the math Sony made up 2.38 million this past year. They have MS as starting with a 5.16 million lead before ps3 released. So essentially what you get from that is that Sony this year has closed the gap to the about the original starting point and this is with the 360 having as high as ~7 million more for a while.Yep that blew my mind much like how Microsoft is still reporting a 6-8 million lead over Sony dispute these numbers you have from the NPDs and MC. What's even weirder is the fact that no one can explain to me how this is with the PAL regions apparently reporting PS3 is selling more. It's like the LSD of system wars. Please show me where Microsoft is reporting this, and if it isn't another fabrication like I expect it is, explain to me how MS knows exactly how many PS3's Sony has sold right now.

According to NPD numbers, the 360 had a 3.8 million unit lead over the PS3 by the end of 2006. Lifetime sales for the 360 in Japan are only like 1.5 million, at best, so the 360 likely only sold 200-300k in Japan in it's 1st year. That means the 360 would had to have sold 6 million units in Europe, double that of what they did in the US, in it's 1st year. No way man. The lead was 7 million, at best. Right where it is now.

The fact that sony overcame xbox's 18 month lead in the pal region in 18 months is proof enough that pal is a sony region. I know you dont want to believe japans numbers but they are a factual number, and gives proof that xbox lost to sony by over 1 million this year 100% factual

I'm saying that the 360 had 5 million consoles sold before the PS3 came out...what are you talking about? 3.4 is the number I see for the 2006 NPDs for November LTD for the 360 in North America...Why all-of-a-sudden would Microsoft have sold more in Euope and Japan than in America?

Using 2 different sources to determine a gap between consoles......nice move. http://news.spong.com/article/19624/PS3-Sales-Now-at-27-Million The link has the gap based on official figures from each company prior to holiday sales. Gap was probably 5-6 million given the month between Sony's # and MS's #. MS now says they sold 39 million. Sony says they sold 3.8 in the holidays so that's 31 guaranteed but that doesn't take into account the sales from october to the start of the holiday season. We know that Sony outsold 360 since the release of the slim but by how much. I'm guessing that ps3 is probably somewhere near 34-35 million but it could be higher.That's just even more sad. You're the one trying to claim ownage over a 50k 'victory' for second place in one region. You must be so proud.Nintendownzyou

Natal and Reach will make that gain a long lost memory. Even with the Japan advantage, Sony will still be down by at least the amount of the 360's headstart by the end of this year, or so I claim. Let's make a prediction and see who's right. It will be fun.

I asked mytherol this, and I am going to asked you this. Why would natal shift sales more so than playstation wand. Why would it cause a larger shift than a 100 $ price drop? I completely understand Halo Reach, it is a halo game. It is going to move consoles. But natal is based purely on speculation. There are no games announced for it, there isn't any price for the peripheral, everything is speculation. I want an answer that doesn't include one of those silly comments.[QUOTE="shinrabanshou"]Oh I give credit where credit's due. The 360 has done phenomenally considering it's predecessor's performance. And I wrote earlier it's managed to become a pop culture icon (in the US) which in itself makes it a success.[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"] 110k is a little more than 50.. However that's splitting hairs. He makes a good point. No one seems to give M$ credit for what they've accomplished this gen and it's far from over (especially with Natal on the horizon). Come November 2010... The 360 will have been on the market for the console standard 5 years and it has already far eclipsed the original XB. It may even reach as much as 50 mil.. That's a pretty big accomplishment from the original. mythrol
But that was just a blatantly false statement that I thought needed correcting. In writing this there's another presumably false statement in that post too. The 360 is not 8 million units ahead of the PS3, I don't think it's ever been that far ahead even before the launch of the slim.
(And yeah, 110>50... but then 150 (Nov JP) + 550 (Dec JP) + 50 (Dec US) also > 110 (Nov US)
You're right, it was 110k. Sorry that was a mistake on my part. So in another 2 months if Sony continues this "sales spike" in NA, they will finally catch up past the sales they lost to the 360 in November. *rolls eyes* Why would anyone be pounding their chest in pride after beating a system that's been out a year longer by 50k units in NA? As far as the 360 being 8 million units ahead that's a rough number but close to accurate. Microsoft announced the 360 as having sold 39 million units at CES 2010 and right now the PS3 is hovering around 31 million units sold (no new numbers yet from Sony). So give or take a few hundred thousand, The 360 really is sitting about 8 million ahead right now.It would probably be more prudent not to compare old numbers from one company to new numbers from another...In millions.

So potentially the gap could be smaller than 4.2 million if ps3 outsold 360 in that market, which is likely given the release of the slim and Sony's claim of being 1 million ahead.
