Going for 23 million to 70 million is generally considered a success. Throw in the fact that MS has actually profited from the 360 and that Xbox live has become a synonym for multiplayer gaming on consoles, and it becomes even more apparent just how insanely successful MS has been. They weren't perfect, but only Nintendo did a better job this generation.
Dreamcast was released september 9th 1999 i bought it on launch look at my manufacturing date august 1999 What's the chances of someone having launch dreamcast if they didnt buy it on launch?
ending up sleeping in all my classes in highschool day dreamcast launched lol before i went to go get it ended up skipping school leaving to go pick it up.
I'm sure I'm just echoing previous posts here, but in no way was the 360 a failure. It was actually a huge success.
Its my least favorite console this gen and I think they started letting things slip half way through the gen, but they made a huge jump over the original Xbox, got tons of 3rd party support and very much held their own against two old gaming giants. I much prefer the PS3, but objectively, the 360 was every bit as good if not better.
Nearly tripled sales of the Original Xbox, and stole 40% marketshare from Sony. Made MS Billions, while Sony lost billions with the PS3. The 360 did not set out to defeat the PS3 in sales. It set out to cripple the Playstation Brand and bring Sony to it's knees and make them play by MS's rules. All Fanboyism aside, MS did just that. If you think the 360 is a failure, then the PS3 must be a downright joke of a product. :roll:
