MS only needs to do 2 things now that Scorpio sent Sony running for the hills.

1. Knock the price of the OG Xbox 1 to $199 and the price of the S model to $249 at next years E3. This will be excellent entry point prices to enter the xbox ecosystem and I bet that it would sell like hot cakes.

2. Wait until Sony announces the price of Neo and the day after, announce the same price point for Scorpio. MS could price out Neo before it launches and kill the one advantage Neo could have over it.

Neo still got advantage over Scorpio, Neo got exclusives...

Neo has no exclusives. Sony themselves said that Neo might not even have full BC with the current PS4.

He's referring to PS4 exclusives.

Why would anyone compare PS4 Neo to Project Scorpio? It should only be compared to Xbox One S. To counter Scorpio, Sony will have to release PS5.

Sony themselves said old Ps4 isnt going anywhere but future games may have benefits if you play them on Neo.

@Guy_Brohski: most of the people buying for multiplats and cod etc.. are doing so because thats where their friends play. Also price. Most people wont go buying a new 4k tv, most people will buy the cheapest system with the most games. This isnt a new gen not many people besides rich or people in their parents basement will.be buying either system especially if they already own a bone or ps4. Then thers is the fact that both og models will be cheaper too.. wherw most people who dont have a system yet will buy. Why, because if they dont have this gens conaole yet its probably because they cant afford it, otherwise they would own one by now.

Ps4neo and scorpio will be for a loud, rich, minority. Hell many people in the US are underemployed or laid off.. there not going to waste mobey on a $500 console and $600+ tv combo ( if you dont have 4ktv there is no point anyway)

Probably not because it'll most likely be delayed since Microsoft had absolutely nothing to show us at e3. It's all hype right now and nothing of substance.

What information do you have that its going to be delayed? Holiday 2017. Thats what they said. When was the last time a console got delayed?

not really , Most people are just looking for the best value and the most powerful console . and most of them will only play Multiplats . Also , not everyone likes Sony's cinematic games . Price and Spec were two big deciding factors that made PS4 sell so much .

I think people are jumping ahead way too fast. Sony still can change the specs of the Neo and the reason why i say that was they starting pushing people to buy VR for PS4 at E3 I'm guessing here i could be wrong but that gave them the space to delay the release of Neo this year.

VR may not sell too hot thats the risk they are taking. We have to wait and see reviews of VR games running on PS4

Neo is expected to be released March 2017, Scorpio Holiday 2017. They picked a date, and Microsoft is not going to delay their console release, they've never done that... This isn't a video game that's being developed, Microsoft never had problems with properly planning hardware releases.

@Midnightshade29: 4K TV's are cheap now, and most of my friends already have had them for a while now. I'm sure a lot of console gamers are more than ready to move up from 1080p. And the new consoles price points will probably be about the same as the current gen's launch price points. I can see Scorpio/Neo selling fairly well. I plan on buying a 4K TV when Scorpio launches, as the TV's will be even cheaper 18 months from now. Price isn't really an issue anymore for 4K TV's and 4K capable GPU's...

@Bigboi500: Sony's Neo wasn't shown in any shape or form at E3, while Scorpio was revealed with basic specs and a launch date/window. So wouldn't it be safer to assume that Neo has more of a chance of being delayed based on your logic?

I actually hope it gets delay for the price to come down a bit, other wise it might be $600 lol

If I were MS, I'd put all focus into ensuring their gaming landscape (Xbox Slim, Scorpio, and PC) integrates 100%. It looks like they've become the Apple iOS and Google Android of the gaming world now where any hardware can play anything up to a point. They just need to stay away from involving a lot of bullcrap apps and stuff that people don't want and keep the Xbox system a pure game & game-related environment. Also, to the people saying that people will no longer buy an Xbox because they can play it on PC, you're still paying Microsoft and you're still in their Xbox ecosystem.

Now Sony will stand in a world all their own that involves no integration with proprietary VR. Oculus will work on the Xbox ond PC. It's up in the air whether this will hurt Sony or not. Sony still has exclusive games but multiplats have always been the real sellers in videogames. Also, kids these days (elementary kids I mean), have been becoming PC gamers off the bat themeselves. Anyways, Sony is #1 right now in gaming and they're doing fine but it looks like it's time to evolve.

@R4gn4r0k:

Windows is their system too, so why can't they make games on that "

That's what they cannot accept. I remember the excuse last gen was "but MS makes no money from putting games on PC". But no, from their own store they do and they don't share it with anyone. It's theirs. You want one of their games you will have to give them your money.

Crystal Ball: Scorpio is not only not launching in 2017 but is also launching in 2018 with BETTER specs than announced; that would really bake sony's noodle. Imagine forcing sony to launch Neo early then be like "oh we meant 2018 with an 8 t-flop 16GB system".

PS5 and new Xbox are few years away why should they announce it right now? Sony has already dominated this gen sales wise why would they not build a PS5 down the line, it's one thing to be a lem, but don't be an idiot. Even as much as Scorpio is a bigger upgraded xbox one and whatever PS Neo is MS and Sony aren't leaving the console race.

yeah. with all the extra stuff and MS profit, is nothing going to be cheap for now. My price range for a brand new console will be around $400 max at this point anything more I'll rather upgrade my computer since I can write off taxes with it!

I don't agree with Eurogamer. The NEO is much closer to launch than Scorpio. If it isn't then I'd expect Sony to beef up the specs to match Scorpio as it's 12-18 months from launch. Sony could position themselves, even with a less powerful iteration of the console, many months ahead of Xbox while already providing 4K and VR. I'll be shocked if we don't see NEO at CES 2017 (January) considering it'll have VR and 4K.

Simply put, we could see a PS4 NEO release 6+ months ahead with VR, with 4K and games like Horizon at the same or lower price than Scorpio.

the R&D may have been finalized and Neo is about there to be manufactured or already started for the holiday 2016. Hints suggest Games being released around October will also require post-launch patches to bring them up to PS4 neo / VR standards, which suggests the console could launch around that time frame.

There's nothing wrong with being a weaker console. Sony just won't be able to make that claim anymore. I think that this will affect the fans of PlayStation more than Sony themselves. Although the not being able to do native 4k and doing upscaled 4k does hurt. But if Sony can pull off rock solid 1080p and 60 fps then they have nothing to worry about.

With Scorpio it would be nice if they coded resolution/framerate and graphics presets into the games, not exactly like a PC where you have 20 options but like a few presets, a 4K one at 30/60 FPS with X settings depending on the framerate you want to target, or 1080p at 60 FPS with topped out settings etc.

That would be ideal! There's some games that are already doing that. Hopefully this becomes an option for all games in the future.

@gago-gago: You guys are forgetting that besides power, developers have to worry about install base. Sony has twice the user base, Scorpio isn't going to be favored when you have base consoles that are much cheaper. Get your shots in though, I was beginning to think Lems were extinct until yesterday.

I still don't even have a 4k tv. I'd consider upgrading, but I really don't want to thrown my 60" 1080p tv into the garbage just yet.

I agree 1080p Gaming and movies are nice. 720p is ashy. 4k is for very rich people who live in mansion's.

@Sagemode87: the Wii had the lead with install base but the lack of power turned off a lot of developers which favored the more powerful consoles. Scorpio is the most powerful console and Xbox is a gaming brand known in many homes now. #GreatnessAwaits

Unless you sit really close to your tv and the panel is shit, I wouldn't bother. I bought a 55" 4k one year + half ago and haven't exactly been blown away. Difference obviously gets bigger the closer to the panel you get.

Lets bring this up. if neo is not stronger or on par with scorpio and they are both out who will buy what? I think the scorpio cause whats the most bought type of games. Multiplats. so imagine someone comes in and says"Whats the best one to get?" "Well they are both good but I would go with scorpio the frame rate is higher than sonys, and it just looks better, less glitches, and overall more stable"

Now what about PC, not many casual people care about gaming on pc. or perhaps they do but the pc isn't strong enough for the new games. I have a pc and play game but I dont wanna pay $400 plus (Australian coin) to get a computer I have to upgrade over and over. I also hate having to get the right details when I boot up a game to make it run and look good since Auto doing it always makes it Shite. with consoles devs can get a lot more out of it. that and with microsoft the prospect of getting the game for free on pc is a big thing for most people.

You can get a 55" Samsung UHDTV for like $800... What are you talking about...

Well, then. According to DF, the PS4 NEO is out and out outclassed by the Scorpio, and it is far too late for Sony to be able to go back to the drawing board and try and respond to the Scorpio's outrageous specs.

Sony's only option is to launch early, but either way, they have lost the one edge they had over Microsoft this generation- the better designed, more powerful console.

Not necessarily.

The Scorpio's price point is heavily implying that MS is going to end up selling a massively overpriced product next year. If the Neo ends up being $400, and then the Scorpio is $600... then no, the Scorpio may be a finer piece of machinery but it has completely priced itself out of being any kind of competitive commercial success.

You can get it for less on sale for around the 500 range. 4k TV are only going to get cheaper.

They have actually sunk in price faster than 1080p sets did, dramatically faster, likely has to do with the mainstream introduction of OLED panels which will eventually replace LED.
