I think a better example would be the failing of Bayonetta 2. They didn't censor shit from that game because SEGA and Platinum would have a heart attack, and yet, even their investment in that game did NOT pay off at all (just like the rest of their post-N64 Mature games, see: Eternal Darkness, Geist, Fatal Frame V, Devil's Third).

I knew this was the reason they weren't porting it. Oh well, at least we have an English subtitled Asia version we can import.

Yep. Dang shame because I want to see them succeed at titles like Eternal Darkness (which is still a great GameCube horror game) and Bayonetta 2, but it seems impossible to happen at this point.

As for the lack of localization, well, I think Tecmo should avoid those criticisms honestly. If their fans want it, then give it to them. I don't think controversy hurts them as it does some other companies.

@nyadc: Yea, the Hong Kong version has English subtitles. I plan to Buy it from HK PS Store. They sell HK PSN cards on Play Asia and you can even import the HK physical copy from Play Asia.

It's times like these that I'm thankful PS4 isn't region locked.

They don't give a shit about backlash. They're far more concerned about selling the game. The more accurate reality is that this game won't sell in the west. That has more to do with audience expectations rather than having some nonexistent moral high ground. It's similar to the reason why Visual Novels are basically non-existent in the west. There aren't enough people willing to throw down $40-$60 on those kinds of experiences.

I don't care for the game, but I dislike the reason behind this move as it sets a poor precedent.

Yea, that's the physical copy. To get the digital you'll have to make a Hong Kong PSN account (there are tutorials on how to do so on youtube, it's easy) and download from the Hong Kong store. The advantage of doing this is that you won't have to wait for your copy to arrive in the mail if you're an impatient gamer like me.

Once you download the game to your PS4 you'll be able to play it on all your accounts on the PS4 including your US account.

Look on the bright side, at least we still have Senran Kagura coming to PS4 [This December I hope] and I can't even see how they would censor this considering the entire game is mostly half-nude females, so that's something to look forward to, plus, Onechanbara Z2: Chaos didn't get censor as well which I still play that game from time to time.
