Almost non existent first party software coupled with an unbelievable hardware failure rate and the fact that you have to pay to play multiplayer, use Netflix instant streaming, and other features offered for free on other platforms makes me lean heavily towards "no".

360 itself is fine, its the American consumer's fault that they kept buying it despite the failure rate, and were willing to pay ofr online features that others offer for free.

The "others offer for free" argumentis quite inapplicable. There isn't another service that let users play Xbox 360 games.

Sure, the Wii, PC and PS3 have comparable online capabilities, but differences inthing like those system's price, features and games themselves stops them from being "the same".

I am shocked this many people responded to this thread or it has not been locked. I read the first post and just thought to myself ok slowly walk away from this idiotic thread. This thread boils down to someone upset their console of choice is in last place after the npd nu,mbers came out.

Seems you shouldve went with your instincts then. Upset? Why would I be upset, PS3 is beating 360 where it matters most games and WW sales. Thats the way it should be as MS has become lazy and just let advertising do the job instead of quality titles.

Microsoft is being lazy? Quite the opposite actually. They have worked hard to pull the Sony fanbase along with Nintendos, which it's seems they are succeeding. It was not just advertising making the sales it is the product.

The 360 has the greatest console failure rate. This says a lot. How many other companies could have their product fail and not close the division because of it? Live has definitely saved the 360. It had to have the subscription fee. Could you image where they would be now if Live was free? Dropped out in two years.

Exclusives aren't as system selling as they used to be.outatime557

Not to mention that the real world couldn't care less about exclusives. Heck, 3rd party exclusives (& probably 2nd party exclusives) are already heading down towards extinction, especially for next gen, due to high development costs & the like. It's the certain games what interests them.

yes/no

MS beat the ps3 to the punch: better online service, big name games, lower price, and attracted alot of causals

it doesnt matter whats the best system the only thing that matters to people is:

WHAT THERE FRIENDS ARE PLAYING

thats it, yea the ps3 has a better outlook this year compared to the 360....a way better year to be honest, but people most likely your buds that are non gamers dont even know it

I give some credit to Sony there brainwashing is extremely effective.

lazerface216

The ratio was for every 3 360S sold at least one would red ring. Anyways that is my opinion Happy Gaming

where did you pull that number out of? i can take a guess. i'm calling tom foolery on most of your post anyways...

It was on every gaming website but of course Xbox fanboys as yourself get real forgetful. If you like Xbox than more power to you. I plain on getting on soon for Gears Of War 3. I am just stating the facts don't blame me the messenger

M$ is expert at creating marketing and hype too bad they are so lousy creating products. NA is more vulnerable to their marketing and hype strategies I think.

Or, it could be, that Sony thinking it was the dominate force in video games got cocky, then Microsoft snuck up, pimp slapped it, and ran off with half its player base while they were gloating about their "Awesome games, unstoppable console, and Blue ray player". The only companies fault it is that Microsoft got such a huge foot hold, is Sony. 600 bucks for a console. When it first came out, it was 600 bucks for an over-rated paper-weight with as few good games {Exclusives included} as there were. I could rarely ever get their online system to work, and when it did, I couldn't get voice chat to work. The few games that did work online at the time had such small player bases {COD-W@W VS 360 COD:W@W) that you'd likely continually fight the same people over and over. The Trophies system was practically ganked right off the 360's achivements, and "Playstation home" is practically a crummy knock-off of Secondlife. I don't get why fanboys think that Either system is so particular deserving of its superiority over the others. ANd lets not even get into the game updates at the time, or the system firmware updates. And keeping in mind, this was way back when the PS3 first released/home released. I still use and play my PS3, it has some good games. But I use my 360 more, more of my friends have 360s here in the states, as well as most of my friends in the UK. Same problem with the Wii, online play is just limited.

Just like any fad, if advertised enough in America, people in the US will buy it. It's a disease that has consumed consumerism itself and spit out a defiled and repugnant plague on society.

Look at Justin Bieber, look at Avatar, look at CoD, look at anything that is just a shallow remnant of what could be and what would be if people didn't act like sheep or lemmings and do whatever they are led or told to do. It rakes in the money, and it sells, so therefore, they advertise, therefore they make massive profit.

It will wane though, fads always do, and these things won't be popular for very long, however, just wait for the next big advertised fad to come around, we'll be saying the same thing about that too.

DragonfireXZ95
Not really. Perhaps many, like myself, bought a 360, for, you know, games?

I don't really understand why you seem to carry such venom towards North America. Frankly, its quite short-sided and offensive.

You oculd say none of the systems deserve their success...

You must pay for online for 360, when it's free elsewhere.

PS3 has ridiculous update times, and some serious hacking problems.

Wii's graphics are way behind everything else.

PC costs a fortune for people who keep up to date.

However, people still buy and use every single one of those systems.

I agree 100%. Microsoft knows, or knew, how to market it.

But it's nothing new, history is full of inferior products that marketed better than superior products - Atari/Colecovision, PC/Amiga, no one should be surprised that Microsoft shoved its console down people's throats, like they did with Windows.

During the Christmas break, it was pretty funny to see how all the media outlets were talking about the Kinect, but barely any mention was made of the Move.

But I blame the consumer, if people get swayed so easily, they get what they deserve.
