OK, it looks great, but, is it just me, or do the wheels look like they're clipping through the ground?
Must be because if the Cooper's body frame

@ghostwarrior786: You know, after watching that vid I'm not impressed. Now I know its a Youtube vid and they do shit on the quality so I'll make my final judgements on the PSN+ version but there are some things in there that really seem off. First off, the tire sounds. **** me they sound like shit. For a game that has had its sound design routinely touted this is a big **** up. Again as mentioned before, running into the dirt does not cause dust clouds to be kicked up. Actually, as I'm watching it there are points where there is dirt and other derbies being kicked up but its hardly a lot.
The guy doing the video is a whinny bitch. He's shit at playing this game. He's complaining about people bemoaning the fact that this wasn't avaiable on release yada yada, he needs to shut the **** up. DriveClub was interesting title in a tiny pond of shit. When it was delayed it made the PS4's lineup look very dull. People have every right to be pissed. I'm also being hard on this game because its had an extra year of dev time and from what I'm currently seeing they seemed of wasted a good chunk of that year.
DriveClub reminds me of Project Gotham Racing alot
I was going to gloss over this post until you said this
FH2 uses a Kudo-like system that made PGR a staple, DC does not.
FH2 has lots of urban/inner city areas to race in, DC does not.
FH2 has a huge focus on music (something that all PGR's prided themselves in), DC does not.
Anyway, have fun with Drive Club, just try not to damage control when the game ends up in the 60's-70's on MC
@Ben-Buja: I guess thats true....I just never really paid attention to it.
That said...it could be blurry due to the fact the "READY" box is there....just the "READY" part is photshopped out.
smashes every other racing game to a pulp. the lighting and shading looks so damn natural. not sure what aliasing people are on about, the IQ is better than what you can achieve in virtually any modern pc game that doesnt support txaa without resorting to spending ridiculous amts of money on multi gpu setups to brute force high levels of downsampling
@ghostwarrior786: Still hard to see for me....but I'm done judging games by youtube videos ( always looks worse ) and gifs ( usually looks better ) and pics ( hand picked by whatever side )....I will judge this the only true way to judge it, on the PS4.

bro why dont u just watch high quality vid then judge for yourself. i honestly dont care at all for racing games, the only reason i show any interest in driveclub is to troll lems and because its included in ps+ so i will check it out. i was hoping it would control like nfs and be arcadey but it seems to realistic for my taste. and yeah the dust is inconsistent which is really weird but it is present

game looks fantastic but I'm burnt out on racers. GT7 will be the only one I'm buying and only if they make a major overhaul out of GT6 cause that game was shit

I love my racers so I was pretty pissed off when this was delayed and even after watching those HQ vids, I'm still not impressed.
yep ive seen them all. lol pc games have much worse aliasing than that with how little msaa does these days.
PC games such as...?
I can't think of a recent PC game that didn't have any decent AA methods, TXAA is becoming more and more the standard and MFAA was just introduced as well
you havent even seen mfaa in in action and its not a quality improvement, its a quality reduction with a performance improvement. and txaa is available in less than 10 games(ever). thats not even close to becoming "more and more the standard".
bf4 says hi, even with deferred aa that game has far more aliasing than driveclub, and thats just on standard polygon edges. when you start taking into account shader and alpha aliasing it just gets completely shit on. then to put the cherry on top you have the massive z fighting and texture/polygon seaming and popping which just finishes it off quite well.
pc games these days are a temporal MESS. driveclub is very temporally stable by comparison. and this is on hardware roughly 3x< powerful than your overclocked 780ti.
I recently saw this game in person at ComicCon, looks awesome, but I wouldn't say it's leaps and bounds beyond anything we have seen. It just looks great, a bit of a step up from Forza but in person it didn't feel like a big step up. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will be received after all this hype and talk, because right now there's a new King in town as far as arcade racers are concerned.

Does that particular video scream temporally stable? lol in the contrary it's terribly aliased. Haven't seen anything this bad in a while.
Yes, I have seen MFAA in action, it's another method that's effective for temporal aliasing in games that use deferred renderers. It might not be as effective as TXAA, but it's another win for PC nevertheless.
There are more than 10 games that feature TXAA. COD Ghosts, AC 3 & 4, Watch Dogs, Blacklist, Arkham Origins, Neverwinter, Black Ops 2, The Secret World, The Crew, Crysis 3... You can bet your ass that in the future it will be used in more games, hence why I said it will become more and more the standard for games (especially those that use deferred renderers)
And congrats you named one game.
Again...the game looks great.
The only ppl who don't think it looks good are ppl who want to find something to nit pick about.

Really truly impresses me? None at the moment. FH2 has tons of cars and looks great but its not worth getting an X1 for currently. Pcars has physics and handling issues that need working and DC just looks sub-par now.
the snow map in this graphically destroys the final stand snow maps in bf4 despite running on hardware 3x less powerful. shameful.
It's a linear path you drive through versus a giant map you fight with 64 players on with more than twice the framerate. Nothing shameful about that.

You actually interact with anything off the track, you just bounce off those "wooden" fences.

the crew isnt even out yet, and if txaa in the beta is any representation of the final game, then it wont count when its released either. i had forgotten about secret world. so exactly 10 games support txaa and its been available for 2.5 years. yeah pretty sick adoption rate there!!!!!!. youve seen mfaa in action? link to driver that supports it please(crappy offscreen videos dont mean shit when trying to determine aa quality.) you should watch the interview with tom from nvidia, he talks about mfaa. how many games do i need to name? which modern pc game that doesnt support txaa has better temporal stability than driveclub? all the GSY videos were temporally stable. im beginning to think you dont know what that term actually means.

How about you name more than one for starters lol

the snow track in driveclub is actually bigger and more detailed than all 4 final stand maps combined, and again theres that 3x increase in power
The game looks so sterile.
word, the game has no personality. reminds me of the regular forza games but at least those games have hundreds of cars and solid driving mechanics
Drive Club has no soul
It may have no soul, but it has my pre-order money...
crowd looks like garbage. canceling preorder
...cancelling my pre-order. :(

bro why are u comparing battlefield to driveclub? haha bf does so much more, it has destruction, 60fps, 64 players etc. its not even a contest. personally think bf4 is the most impressive game on next gen consoles

It's just a backdrop that you can't get to, they can save a lot of resources on distant objects and textures because they obviously don't need to make them too detailed, you will never get there anyway.
They can design LODs much easier in games that only let you travel a linear path. Cliffs that are right next to the track can be very detailed and use high res textures and distant cliffs are much less detailed but you won't be able to tell from your POV.
The 3x increase in power goes towards the 64 players and the much higher framerate obviously. Even a 970 GTX manages 77 fps average in BF4 on ultra
Edit: Here's something that shows nicely what I mean:
Notice how the terrain is much more detailed on the left where the track is? That's how they got Driveclub to look like it does.
Battlefield 4 on the other hand has a big map and has to keep a constant level of detail across a wider area.
@Ben-Buja: pcars, metro, tomb raider, nfs rivals, shadow of mordor, dead rising, star citizen, risen 3, rome 2, sniper elite 3
Most of those have better AA than Driveclub.
Feel free to post screenshots that prove me wrong.
Btw. Project CARS might get TXAA on release.
As for DR3:
Looks better to me than:
As far as AA quality goes. I think most people would agree
LOL....no. dead rising 3 is an absolute clusterfuck in motion. pcars is not getting txaa(at least not at release). yeah they have better AA when u brute force high levels of supersampling. but that goes for any game. i also love how hermits constantly post the worst pics from the most compressed streams possible. whenever i post a pic of a pc game to use as a reference its always a direct capture screen at max settings.
The driving physics makes me cringe.
Its not supposed to be a simulator but a mix of arcade and sim like the Grid series or the NFS Shift series
But it's not even close to the first GRiD and GRiD A. Shift devs are the same devs that are making PCars and it is probably going to run at 1080p&60 fps on PS4 so why would anyone buy this game over PC that has way more content, adjustable handling and also amazing graphics.
Seriously, the guys who made Shift are making Cars? I liked 1 but 2 was a freaking piece of unplayable garbage. Who the heck puts a 1/2 second input delay in a racing game? This makes me sad.
Seems like these POS "next gen" consoles are not even bc with old peripherals

It has to do with Logitech abandoning the wheel business and not working on updating their drivers for the new consoles. Has nothing to do with the PS4 or X Boner
@3dude1
Just like Driveclub is a clusterfuck in motion? Shimmering everywhere, especially in the trees and bushes, jaggies on power lines, flickering on guardrails etc.
TXAA is still on the roadmap for Project CARS + they have a partnership with Nvidia.

They redid the physics from the ground up, no worries man
SMS also made GTR, GTR 2 and GT Legends by the way.

Yeah, that's weak sauce. I bought a Fanatec GT2 wheel especially because it was compatible with PC, 360 and PS3. No way I'm buying a new wheel for the current gen consoles...
I hope Sony is working on more support for older wheels.

Straight from the link right there---
“It’s devices that have high polling rates that require the chip. A standard mouse and keyboard, for example, don’t send data very fast to the PS4. Devices that do, such as controllers and wheels, require the chip.
We understand the frustration that many customers feel and we’re currently working on a solution.”
So yes, it is a PS4/Xbox problem.
smashes every other racing game to a pulp. the lighting and shading looks so damn natural. not sure what aliasing people are on about, the IQ is better than what you can achieve in virtually any modern pc game that doesnt support txaa without resorting to spending ridiculous amts of money on multi gpu setups to brute force high levels of downsampling
Keep telling yourself that buddy.
This is from Gamersydes Chile - Ferrari F430 video
Here's a video using the same car on the same track in Chile.
