Nintendo are WORSE than EA. The reason why they went with cartridge was to control the production of all the games on their console. Evil? Yes Evil indeed.

I think they'll still make great games. But they'll be creatively restricted now, unless EA makes them a special "elite" division, kinda like Will Wright and Maxis being allowed to develop Spore and the Sims.

Then EA will take their new IP, give it to one of their lesser divisions, and spam the hell out of it with sequels and add-ons. :|

What REALLY should piss people off is that if BioWare does make any games with online functionality, or online multiplayer, EA will force BioWare to use EA's own servers, even for Xbox Live, because of the deal EA has with Microsoft that EA hosts its OWN games on its OWN crappy servers.

Small wonder that XBL-enabled EA games are usually bashed for having some of the sort performance. EA's Live servers suck.

Normally I'd have a freak out fit, but what was the last game BioWare made that I liked? 4 years ago? And Mass Effect is gonna be amazing, but EA isn't gonna touch that, MS is publishing the entire trilogy, so that should be great and no interference from EA. Obsidian could make KOTOR 3, since that belongs to LucasArts.

In other words...who cares? The entire trilogy of ME will be on MS plats...and that's all I was looking forward to when it came to Bioware...so I honestly don't see much to get pissed over. I'm certainly not looking to a Jade Empire sequel, and wouldn't care if it was multi-plat or released by EA since I don't even care about the first..Dissapointing news yeah, but what can you do? Complain? EA knows about the hatred that exists for them, they dont' care. And I don't care, I'm not gonna let this announcement ruin Mass Effect for me. Meh.

I really think that there will not be another XBOX console. Microsoft losing 3 of its best exclusive developers(Bungie, Bioware, Bizzare Creations) in such a short time frame, the increased focus on Games for Windows, probably no Halo 4 to help a future XBOX, the lack of new game announcements in the last year, and the fact that they are not profitting in the hardware business(the $1 billion RROD fix alone nullifies the profits of Halo 3 and possibly ME combined). Don't be surprised when there is no new Xbox in the coming years.ultima-flare

Also I don't get all the EA hate, plenty of good games have come out of EA, SSX, the new Burnouts, Need for Speed has almost always been good, etc. etc.

Don't forget the fact that Bioware is quality, they would not rush a game, let alone give EA the power to ruin their reputation, think of EA as the back up, to fill in the cracks and voids, provide more money towards developement which means better quality, more workers, etc... it's not like the Orange Box situation, trust me, we have nothing to be worried about, Bioware is quality

Who remembers what EA did to Origin? They wanted to leave and EA shut them down, kept all their Franchises/IPs and disbanded the whole studio.

Bioware although not bought, is used to deal with the lest optimal publshers (to say the least) like Interplay and Atari. Which were not known for their patience.

WOW EA is super Multiplat heaven so what does that say about Biowares Exclusivity?

Short Term= nothing i think Mass Effect will still only be for Xbox 360

You do realize that sony has more than just a games division...right? But yes, EA is too big an entity for Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft to realistically buy. They could, but the price would be steep that it would be a very risky gamble.

I've been scouting around there for a while. No one seems to have caught up the news...or I'm looking at the wrong boards.

It comes to show that console makers need to make their consoles last longer or make consoles upgradeable, meaningbeing able to replace GPU's and processors. I think that consoles shouldn't go to the extreme that PC's go to however, upgradeable parts would be a good answer to thosesmaller developers from being taken over by companies such as EA. I still feel consoles are the way to go when it comes to gaming due to the fact that if there are any hardware or software problems, those tend to get resolved much quicker since you have families complaining as opposed to just theone PC user.
