EA Buys Bioware and Pandemic.

I think Bioware completely owns the ME franchise though. This means that EA owns the franchise now. Make what you will from that.

I think ME will come out for the 360. Then I think EA will make it multiplat with the PS3. Then the next installments will be multiplat.

I really think that there will not be another XBOX console. Microsoft losing 3 of its best exclusive developers(Bungie, Bioware, Bizzare Creations) in such a short time frame, the increased focus on Games for Windows, probably no Halo 4 to help a future XBOX, the lack of new game announcements in the last year, and the fact that they are not profitting in the hardware business(the $1 billion RROD fix alone nullifies the profits of Halo 3 and possibly ME combined). Don't be surprised when there is no new Xbox in the coming years.ultima-flare

I agree that there will not be an XBox 3, but for the following reasons.

#1 Microsoft has STILL not made profit off the Xbox project.

#2 Peter Moore left

#3 Games are appearing on other systems (Nintendo DS)

#4 Selling their developers

This will make no difference. In fact, it will actually help both studios, as they won't have to shop their ideas around to publishers to see if someone will bite, EA will just pony-up and say "Do your thing."JocktheMotie

I hope people realize just how questionable Mass Effect's exclusivity really is. Unless they had a special deal in place, it has a high probability of going multiplat. Especially if it's every bit of the 9.75 Game Informer gave it.Dreams-Visions

I really doubt it. PC, sure. Not the PS3 or Wii though. Mass Effect has to be either done or nearly finished. I suppose a timed exclusive... Man, that would suck.

What MS does own is the Halo franchise. They bought the rights to it when they bought Bungie.

Wow, an $860 million deal....and they made it a point to announce that they also now own Mass Effect, in addition to 9 other titles. This deal could end up hurting the 360 in the long run, as more than likely, all of Bioware's console games will appear on the PS3 as well.

Well, at least EA will have some higher quality games that will appeal to the core audiences more. Not to mention that more gamers will get to play Bioware's games....like hopefully Dragon Age on PS3/360.:) I sure as hell am not going to complain about that.

While pretty much everyone sees the clear threat that EA represents. People should at least wait till the subject is dead before burying it.

I mean Bioware is a top developer right? everyone knows what they're capable of. but of course when they announced Sonic RPG, oh man, that game's gonna suck. It will be a slow-ass game, it just can't work, blah blah blah. All that when there even wasn't (and still isn't) a single detail or screenshot of the game, nobody knows how they're gonna make it (if they're still making it) yet without knowing a single deatail that didn't stopped the mass whinning. Just another proof of the shortsighted and often ignorant views of many in the board. The reactions here just range on the caricaturesque. everything is the best or worst ever news until proved otherwise.

Bioware will either give EA a new face, or fall from grace, we'll just have to wait and see.
