I really think that there will not be another XBOX console. Microsoft losing 3 of its best exclusive developers(Bungie, Bioware, Bizzare Creations) in such a short time frame, the increased focus on Games for Windows, probably no Halo 4 to help a future XBOX, the lack of new game announcements in the last year, and the fact that they are not profitting in the hardware business(the $1 billion RROD fix alone nullifies the profits of Halo 3 and possibly ME combined). Don't be surprised when there is no new Xbox in the coming years.ultima-flare

Who remembers what EA did to Origin? They wanted to leave and EA shut them down, kept all their Franchises/IPs and disbanded the whole studio.

That was the case when devs were rushing games, but the next few months will have some good games and the future line up is starting to shape up nicely.

Very true. Just calling it as I've seen it unfolding. devs have to put their best devs on the projects that are costing them the most...because if nothing else, those games have to FLOAT. So you have to assume devs are putting their 2nd tier devs and unique ideas that they can't afford to try out on the PS3/360 on the Wii. Almost like their practice system or something.

Idunno. I don't know how I feel about any of what's going on these days.

Just doesn't work like that. EA is about maximizing profit. That means faster development cycles and multiple platform appearances. It will probably also mean some key resignations.

I think ME will come out for the 360. Then I think EA will make it multiplat with the PS3. Then the next installments will be multiplat.

No More Heroes and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers come to mind as being games that will be worth getting. I wish the Wii was getting Dragon Quest 9 though instead of the DS, it just seems more appropriate to have the big franchise on a console but anyway. Plus Guitar Hero 3 is coming to the Wii with online play (unknown whether there is downloadable content or not yet)which is nice, because as a multiplat, it is easily one of the best multiplats anyone could ever get in my opinion.

So EA plans to ruin two more developers.

Yesmost of thecompany does, usually so do directors boards and investors in the company. Like any big business, the head honcho people and any groups who happen to be investing in a company, when it comes to making big financial decisions, they have a say. Maybe the developers themselves do not but still...

Oh, and developers hold the rights to games, the only rights a publisher has is the marketing rights of any 3rd party game, the developer owns the game like Bioware owns Mass Effect. The only other instance where a publisher owns the rights to a game is if the developer happens to be owned by the publisher like the relationship between Bungie and Microsoft over Halo.
