DMC4 doesn't come close why again? DMC4's main problem was recycling... not so much the gameplay..

It is the gameplay when it was the gameplay that was being recycled. You're basically replaying the same levels as Dante during the second half, and he wasn't much fun to play as compared to Nero.drinkerofjuice

He was as fun, he just wasn't as easy and yeah the recycled content thing was really the only bad thing about the game. Nero was actually a nice edition despite what the vets say.

As a child I would tolerate playing a little guy in a little green hat swinging his little sword. Not so much now a days. I have no issue with the children that this game is targeting. I'm just apart of the high population of adults who have not cared about the name Zelda in well over a decade. Review scores are cool for little fanboy wars, but lets be real. We already know what game will be crowned GOTY by the gaming community. The millions who buy the title in the first week combined with the millions that will be playing online is a much more credible indicator of GOTY than random magazine and website employees.

they are the most biased, anti ps3 reviewing source in existence? with edge, ps3 games get, on average 12 points below their metascore. 360 games get 4 points below it. that is a ridiculous margin when you compare it to other sites. for example, on average, GS rates 360 games exactly at the metascore and PS3 games 3 points below it. that could be considered biased, but its nothing compared to the discrepancy that edge shows. no professional site even comes close to those numbers. most sites remain with in the 1 range in both directions, because things usually balance out when you are dealing with so many games.

to put the numbers in perspective, many people consider me a PS3 fanboy. I rate PS3 games on average 5.5 points above the metascore and 360 games 1.5 point above it. so, mister PS3 fanboy has a 4 point discrepancy between the PS3 and xbox. edge magazine has an 8 point discrepancy. you have to work very hard to cultivate such a massive platform bias.

and apart from that, their multiplat reviews are all over the place and they do alot of them (like the dead island one) purely for shock value and to get more site traffic.

It's not that EDGE uses the 1-10 scale, it's that they are very erratic in their scores. Their scores are useless but the written reviews have some value.

Whats really beyond me is how gamers don't even look to their own when judging a game. A title can have a whooping 40 reviews from 40 random "reviewers" and that will determine a failure or a success. Despite user reviews that may damn near triple the "professional" ones, from people who more than likely put more time into the game than the so-called pros. Funny, yet sad.

Also as pointed out in that thread, the assertion that review scores should average at five on a ten point scale is flawed and based on the assumption that games never go through some sort of QA process.

Lets take a look at these graphs here. Well, they look pretty much the same.

Edge likes Halo a little too much. They like Valve as well...Explains why they didn't like MGS4 :P Edge doesn't like Resistance, Killzone, Mass Effect or Gears as much as the average Joe.

So...I don't see what's wrong? Edge gave pretty low scores to games on both sides. Sure the numbers are low but when you look at the actual games, I don't see anything wrong with it.
