Ok dude, this is the last time I'm gonna quote you I swear!! :D

I have to admit, as you've pointed out, I don't have any valid points for the future gaming exclusives.

But I do know that the PS3 has announced a number of exclusives, Killzone 3, GT5, The Last Guardian, Infamous 2, Socom 4, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal.

As far as I am aware the Xbox has Halo Reach, Gears 3. That's all I can think of.

And as you've noticed I haven't restricted the list to 2010. But please, I would like to know what else the Xbox has coming for it. No I really do!!

lucfonzy

You can quote me again as long it isn't about our older argument about the PC, that's in the past. Your right the PS3 have those games announced and those two games you mentioned for the 360 are the only other exclusive games. Other than like morphx or whatever it's called. But like the topic says, this thread is pointing out, exclusives don't matter as much as people say. And because of PC/360 multiplats and some other reasonsI prefer the 360 over the PS3.

Well, I guess that's your opinion, and the opinion of many others, but to me exclusives do matter, because what's the point in having a 360 when i already own most of the games on the PC, and the PS3 is sitting there with a giant mountain of exclusives I want to play but can't because I don't own the system.

I guess if you have a PC I can understand, but I would stil get a 360 because of alan Wake, Halo, and Gears. Not to mention I love XBL, and the 360 in my opinion has a much better controller than the PS3. The 360 is a great console, and I wish people would realize this. Even though I know the PS3 is a good console as well.

]Downfall? Explain? Smells like BS damage control. The PS2 is still on the market and selling, in fact it outsold the 360 in the last quarter. Now that's sad. Sony is owning it up. The PS3 has nothing but gained market share since it was released, the 360 has nothing but lost it. Spinning is nice eh?FriendlyGaimz

yes, i'm sure the fact that sony went from the uncontested winner with a 75% market share to a 28% share is just me spinning the facts

or the fact that the playstation division has done nothing but cost sony money since 2006/2007

Agreed, but if we are suddenly going to start claiming "ownage" i'd say that sony's downfall was a much bigger "ownage" then anything else

the 360 is at the tipping point. Bungie just left MS, and therefore the flagship title is now forever doomed to be milked to it's gritty painful demise. Recent exclusives are not selling so well.

Playstation really is going from strength to strength, with many exceptional exclusives in the pipeline (which are important incase you you didn't know).

it's beating the 360, but after 4 years it still behind

Price is not the end all factor

the only ownage I see is that fact that sony went from a 75% market share to dead last

:D if in "sony's downfall" they can still produce most diverse, highly acclaimed, standard setting and innovative AAA console exclusive this gen than any other console provider on the market then-- I would say that that's pretty big ownage on the people trying to praising other consoles and while trying tobash Sony.

as a Whole yes, but i'm talking about evolution,

Sony went from being top dog to last place in sales and in the red every year

Microsoft has been able to get out of the red, it's been turning in a proffit since 2008

The real question is, do you have some good proof of that? Say, a sized good sales spike around a non-exclusive? I know quite a few exclusives with huge sales spikes associated with them, but really don't know of any non-exclusives doing the same.

last gen:

120 million PS2's

25 million Xboxes

20 million gamecubes

Sony: 72% Market share

Microsoft: 15%

Nintendo: 13%

Now, let's for a moment assume the PS2 still counts (even though that's not how it works)

140 million PS2 + 36 million PS3

25 million xboxes + 41 million xboxes

20 million gamecubes + 73 million gamecubes

Sony: 52% market Share

Microsoft: 19% market Share

Nintendo: 29%

However, in the real world, this is how it works:

Microsoft: 27,6 %

Nintendo 48,3%

[QUOTE="ohthemanatee"]

[QUOTE="TintedEyes"] but its got 140 million so sony didnt lose all that marketshare you talk aboutTintedEyes

first of all, I was originally only counting current gen consoles,

but if we go by your logic (which is errouneous by the way) then sony STILL lost market share, here, let's do some math shall we?

last gen:

120 million PS2's

25 million Xboxes

20 million gamecubes

Sony: 72% Market share

Microsoft: 15%

Nintendo: 13%

Now, let's for a moment assume the PS2 still counts (even though that's not how it works)

140 million PS2 + 36 million PS3

25 million xboxes + 41 million xboxes

20 million gamecubes + 73 million gamecubes

Sony: 52% market Share

Microsoft: 19% market Share

Nintendo: 29%

However, in the real world, this is how it works:

Sony 24,1%

Microsoft: 27,6 %

Nintendo 48,3%

ok good, so it didnt loose as much market share as people usually say, thanks

they lost 50% market share in 5 years how is that not loosing much?

and sony is still in the red,

it lost market share, money and consumer confidence, no matter how you slice it, sony was the big looser this gen ;)

ohthemanatee

But surely that is irrelivant.

Sony is still the top market shareholder, meaning it's still bringing in the most money, which in turn goes into publishing and making more "better" games?

I just proved that sony is the only one who is in still in the red every fiscal year :?

Oh, I thought you just proved that MS was $6 billion dollars down, Sony was $45mil down, and MS is above in the current gen whilst that sony is still the overall number 1 market shareholder,

so now it's a good thing that sony is losing and ms is gaining, as it would mean that ms is "taking all his money"?

I also proved they they are the ones with the less market share

Yeah, ok it was a bit selective, but the point is Sony's playstation 2 is still the largest selling console ever, and it's still bring in sales, aswell as the PS3.

Sony is still losing money though as you pointed out, which I can't really understand tbh, although... didn't you miss out the last 3 years in that chart for Sony? I can't remember.

yes, the PS2 is the largest selling console ever, I don't deny this.

But what I am talking about is evolution, in terms of evolution sony went from being the top dog to last place, if you look at the fiscal years, you see that Microsoft was loosing millions or billions every year while sony was making millions every year. But after 2008 their roles reversed.

this is what I mean, Sony lost 50 % of it's market share and is loosing money every year

as for your last question, I couldn't find info on sony's 1995-1997

lucfonzy

the problem is that the money from consoles comes from software sales and royalties.

In truth the PS2 produced very little of either those in 2007 and even less in 2008 (I can't read 2009 or 2010 as sony changed their reports structure, now every sony product is part of a larger division)

the PS2 has had very little impact in these last few years
