Exclusives don't matter as much as people say.

But what I am talking about is evolution, in terms of evolution sony went from being the top dog to last place, if you look at the fiscal years, you see that Microsoft was loosing millions or billions every year while sony was making millions every year. But after 2008 their roles reversed.

this is what I mean, Sony lost 50 % of it's market share and is loosing money every year

as for your last question, I couldn't find info on sony's 1995-1997

last gen the ps2 had an incredibly huge advantage in AAA exclusives compared to the other 3 consoles.

this gen there isn't as many on consoles, so they don't matter as much. in fact the console with the most exclusives, the Wii, has by far the worst overall library (which is what has ultimately always mattered)

exclusives matter, in that they contribute to the overall library of one system, and not any other. but at the end of the day, the overall library is what really matters., obviously

which is why we should only compare apples to apples, that is why we don't compare the Wii to the PSP or the 360 to the PS2

Yeah anyway... back on topic, it seems exclusives do matter.

So to summarise, in recent years (plural) the PC has the most exclusives AA and over, followed by the Wii, the PS3, and finally, the 360.

Between the xbox and the ps3, the ps3 comes out the winner with exclusives, because let's face it, when in system wars all that matters is the 360 and the PS3.

Exclusives are the most important feature for any console, it is the deciding factor for people when buying a console.

consoles are too similar for exclusives to really matter, people just wanna play the latest and best game, and now its games like Call of Duty, exclusives are taking a back seat in gaming now

I seem to remember it was all that 360 fans could talk about in 06 and 07. PS3 fans were constantly criticized for bringing up multiplats and having no AAA exclusives. Turnabout is fair play.

2005- World of warcraft 11 million

Well the TC's point is a little all over the place in that post. But I can say that system exclusives matter very very much. There is no way to justify what makes that system worth owning. It's something that's been dying throughout this gen. Waaaaaay too many titles come out for "X360/PS3". Ohhhhhhh my god how often do we see a game listed under this. It's unfortunate that it happens so often.Back in the day (16 bit generation/32 bit revolution) the exclusives were a big deal and it was glorious. The Wii keeps things fresh by the nature of the system but with Move on the way even that is in danger. I like saying:

"I have my 'Nintendo' for 'these' reasons, my Xbox for 'these' reasons, and my Playstation for 'these' reasons."
