hmmm...

Quote -"This article is not a test. Just an "introduction for things to come". Why? Because the conditions under which I had to play this "RPG" were not acceptable: sixteen hours in a row in a luxurious hotel on an almost finished build, Bethesda asking to see my screenshots in order to "approve" them...These factors, going from obnoxious to truly scandalous would have made my review biased or even dishonest. Well, I mean a little more dishonest than what I usually do. But have no fear, even though I was deprived of my screenshots, I'm not deprived from my opinion. Condolences: Fallout 3 is a sluggish device, soulless, not exactly terrible, actually almost enjoyable, but totally forgettable because of uncountable dishonest compromises."

Quote - "Most locations you can discover are "raider dungeons". City ruins are copy-paste of the same and only model, here and there flavored by the same and only model of tricycle (the very poetic "Red Ryder") and even worse, the main quest will get you through an Hellgate London-ish nightmare in which you had to pass through kilometers of underground for hours and hours."

BOMB????

That sounds JUST like oblivion, down to the re-used textures for many dungeons...

So, we have a pirate that has the game, and loves it.

Apparently the game sounds just like Oblivion with recycled dungeons, bleh.

What exactly do you mean by "reliable".

Do you think he's lying when he talks about how close everything is?

Do you think he's lying about the re-used textures?

Do you think he's lying about waiting 20 seconds every time you use VAT?

Do you think he's lying about the horrific RPG elements?

Please, enlighten us, as i dont see why someone would flat-out lie about this when he has a fanbase(no matter how small it may be).

It is a French magazine named CanardPC.

But I have a felling that the Black Isle/Fallout elitists will hate Fallout 3 no matter what.

NMA didn't review it. It's from a reviewer writing for a Canadian PC gaming magazine.

I've never heard of the review source CanardPC before, nor have I ever come across any of their previous reviews, so I'm just gonna go on ahead and discount whatever they say.

I'll wait for sites that I know and have used before and thus can gauge their review rating standards.

Thats what it looks like to me... from the beggining.. recent videos got my hopes up a bit, but a grey and brown post apocalyptic oblivion doens't intrigue me that much.. I really liked the graphics from the vibrant colours in oblivion, might not be so great now, but it mattered more then. They clearly won't be able to go to the depth of the first 2, which I only played a tiny bit, so I don't have any real preference, but I definatly prefere that genre over this.

First of all, I take it you're no familiar with NMA. Asking No Mutants Allowed ANYTHING related to Fallout 3 is like asking the Sony Defense Force about anything related to Microsoft. NMA typify the silly oldschool Fallout loyalists.

Also, what they're talking about comes from a PREVIEW of the game in some no-name French magazine that nobody has heard of and no one care about.

Who cares if it's a preview or a "no-name French magazine".

The man brought up fundamental issues with the game.

I HIGHLY doubt he'd flat out lie about what he saw in the game(20 second VAT for example).

Mass Effect had a lot of similar problems, but you know what? It ended up to be one of my most favorite games this gen. So none of this really bothers me, I'll still pick this game up.

seriously though, the game has to be finished to be leaked. They really need to push finished product to release faster if the want to cut down on piracy

either that or figure out how their product keeps getting leaked

Thank you. People like this make me sick, they can at least wait until the game is 10 bucks if they're that cheap. But to flat out steal (before the game is even out too!) when they invest millions of dollars into the game just makes my blood boil.

Products will always get leaked no matter what because they are given to retailers weeks before release. Employee's can easily leak them, take the FC2 thread for example on this page, jacboy got a retail copy early, he can easily put it on the net if he wants. What I'm saying is.. stopping your products from getting leaked is almost impossible.

Just like when GS, IGN 1up reviewed Oblivion after a few early negative reviews, I'll think you'll find yourself sticking to the fringe sites with stuff like this. Just because you ride the most vocal wave of hate doesn't make it the most credible, especially when it deals with Fallout 3 and originates from NMA.

and maybe ship it a few days in advance instead of a few weeks

THe console leakage will be hugely minimal, I think you'll find that in the sales numbers.

I guess ou didn't read it, it isn't a review.

And also, NMA will cling onto any scrap of bad news about the game they get. They've done it for the last 2 years. You're outta your league here.

All 360 games can and have been pirated.. that isn't minimal. Just because these sites like IGN and GS refuse to track console piracy doesn't mean it's huge. I mean it was horribly rampant on the PS2 and Ps1, it's the same way on the PSP, nitty lost 1 billion dollars last year due to it, and now every major title that is on the 360 is getting leaked early.. yea minimal..

so now that this piracy talk is out of the way, to the "review":

am I the only one who noticed that the game was called a "heresy" by whomever wrote this drivel. Not to mention the numerous nostalgic comments about the "good-old-days" when black isle was in control

basically alot of fanboyism and blind bethesda hatred

I love the original fallout games as much as the next guy, but if I didn't know any better I'd swear that this "review" was written by one of those foaming-at-the-mouth uber-fanboys who had dismissed fallout 3 as trash the second it was announced

I'll wait for someone a little more objective looking to sound in before I judge

just my two cents

Products will always get leaked no matter what because they are given to retailers weeks before release. Employee's can easily leak them, take the FC2 thread for example on this page, jacboy got a retail copy early, he can easily put it on the net if he wants. What I'm saying is.. stopping your products from getting leaked is almost impossible.

THe console leakage will be hugely minimal, I think you'll find that in the sales numbers.

Please, save your breath. You're saying things that in 3 weeks will seem silly.

As long as it doesn't negatively impact overall sales numbers, it doesn't have the same effect. If a tiny, tiny fraction of people pirate a given product, it isn't even heavily debated - this is the state of piracy on consoles. Don't forget, Halo 2 leaked about a month before the retail date on the first XBox and that system was cracked far more heavily than the 360, the original XBox was made into a ROMbox. This is why PC game makers complain so much compared to those that make or made games for the consoles.

And, I will bump this thread come Oct 29th. What do you think you'll say in response to the major reviews that come out from now till then? This is my serious question to you, I've bookmarked this thread. Might as well bump it then, and I will.

There is no review there, only a preview, and respond to what I said.

What does that have to do with anything I'm talking about? If the major reviews say it sucks then ok, if they don't then ok. I play games and review them myself, I don't rely on others.

seriously though, the game has to be finished to be leaked. They really need to push finished product to release faster if the want to cut down on piracy

either that or figure out how their product keeps getting leaked

yeah, piracy on consoles is a problem that is only getting worse. It's been estimated that 1/5 console gamers either exclusively or primarily pirates the games they play.

Human garbage like xkojimax will continue to take their toll on the industry, but its nowhere near as bad as the PC

it's estimated that 9/10 pc gamers pirates games regularly, because it's simply much easier than pirating console games and PC gamers tend to be more tech savy to begin with

Uh, what?

Where are you getting this from?

That is an absurd claim.
