Well there are a few perks that you can take for exactly what you are fearing. ;) [QUOTE="TheEroica"]I'm tempted to play hardcore... but the ammo encumbrance really puts me off. I was quite the hoarder in FO3, and the thought of perhaps doubling the number of trips it might take to clear a locale and shove all those goodies into my house is unappealing, especially when I wanna play through more than once. Of course, I'm not nearly as informed on the nuances of the hardcore mode as some of you, so it's possible that once the game is in my hands I'll decide to go for it it. A lot of the differences I've read on this thread sound appealing.

My gamer soul says "hardcore or nothing", my head is telling me to wait and feel it out before making the final decision. I have no fear of fast traveling penalties or inventory management. My biggest fear is that Im going to somehow not enjoy the game as much having to be a micro manager of literally EVERYTHING at times when I just want to play the next mission. it really is a tough decision for me.
See for me it's a really easy decision because of the micro managing. It's something newer RPGs lack nowadays.[QUOTE="santoron"]Well there are a few perks that you can take for exactly what you are fearing. ;) [QUOTE="TheEroica"]I'm tempted to play hardcore... but the ammo encumbrance really puts me off. It would be kinda cool to relive an old school rpg experience in todays day and age.Anybody on the fence as to what platform you're picking it up on? PC, 360 or PS3...
Im going 360 all the way. This is a game I wish I had a better computer for however. Fallout Mods are sickly inventive.
TheEroica
No, I did not hesitate when I pre-ordered the 360 version of this particular game. I got Fallout 3 on the PS3 and while I had no problems with it other than some weird visual glitches, I still would rather have had the better version given the choice again. That said, I am not taking a chance with New Vegas. However, I do hope that the PS3 version is up to par this time around.

Wouldn't the better version be the PC's? :P[QUOTE="ironcreed"][QUOTE="TheEroica"]

I hear that. Same for me, although I really don't mind.LOL, you got that right, but that is not an option for me. I'll have to settle for the better console peasant version.:P

PS3 will be my launch version, simply because I prefer playing in my living room. I ended up getting FO3 later on PC (after PS3) because of the great mods, and if I enjoy this one as much as the last, there's a good chance I'll pick up a PC copy again down the road.

Really... I actually went and looked up all the hardcore mode differences again after posting this, but I have to say I've yet to peek at the perks list yet. I suppose I'll have to take a gander.
This better get AAA, otherwise I'm going to have to put underwear on my head for GUFU. :(Stevo_the_gamerWhat if PS3 gets AA again? :P
Anwyay I'm thinking it should. They tweaked some of the bugs from FO3, and there's almost the same if not more content in the game than FO3. Engine is looking rather stale though.
Wait. That comes with the game? Like the GTA map? :shock:Here's a link to the map of New Vegas!
Here and here.

I'm still on the fence with this one. If the devs of the originals manage to add their macabre black humor and the bleak world of the originals into New Vegas then it'll be a must buy for me. :)
I played fall out 3 and i didnt like it at all ( loved oblivion tho) the atmosphere of the game was too depressing for me i guess... and the bugs... oh teh bugz :/ I m hyping it AASolid_Tangoi think the comedic relief at the core of fallout 3 really negated the very depressing premise, plus the ridiculously brutal combat and characters helped too.

Agreed about the engine, but honestly characters, humor and open world goodness that F3 provided made me a VERY happy smoothskin. I've no doubt this will follow suit.[QUOTE="Solid_Tango"]I played fall out 3 and i didnt like it at all ( loved oblivion tho) the atmosphere of the game was too depressing for me i guess... and the bugs... oh teh bugz :/ I m hyping it AADead-Memoriesi think the comedic relief at the core of fallout 3 really negated the very depressing premise, plus the ridiculously brutal combat and characters helped too. I've never understood how people call FO3 depressing. A lot of podcasters said that and I purchased the game based off of it. I loved the title but was shocked to find that what they considered depressing I thought of as one of the funniest games I'd played in a while. Can't wait for NV. Day one purchase as soon as the store opens.
getting it day 1 and I have next week off from work so I'll get to play it tooooonnnnss...so excited...!!

Me neither. Stalker is far more depressing. :P
inb4 I get accused of viral marketing Stalker.
Based off the pictures, it doesn't look like it.I do not want to spoil the map for myself but tell me..
Is it bigger then FO3?

[QUOTE="thespywholied"]Based off the pictures, it doesn't look like it. Which is good, IMO. I hate long walks. A smaller map with more stuff in it is exactly what I want.I do not want to spoil the map for myself but tell me..

they say it's 3 times the size.lawlessx
That has me actually worried a little bit. But as long as the world doesnt feel overly copy pasted or the world is big just for the sake of being big then I am more than fine with it.
I may sound a bit weird for thinking this but I really hope we players spend a lot more time in towns this time around. One of my least favorite things about FO3 was that towns seemed to serve no purpose other than being hubs for picking up quests and buying and selling, though with recent footage, I have a good feeling that towns will have a bigger purpose this time around.

No i agree with you 100%. i just hope these factions have random "wars" with each other without you having any involvement in them. Random events such as the ones found in the stalker series is what helps make the game your playing really feel like your in that world.[QUOTE="Maroxad"][QUOTE="lawlessx"]they say it's 3 times the size.lawlessx

Random events seem too important for RPGs to miss out, and for that reason I will always have the wild wasteland trait in this game. Not only do random events help make the game less predictable but they also improve the roleplaying portion of the game.
Although the game is probably unknown to most users here Depths of Peril used these random events very well, and could force 2 factions that were previously hostile too eachother to form a ceasefire and focus on a bigger threat. Too bad the game was really unpolished though but the mere random events really increased that games replay value and made it fun as you could never know what was going to happen next.

well even if the devs didn't include random wars in the game I'm sure a mod will be created for it :)Are there going to be more cities, or at least more "alive' cities? I know FO3 was more about being alone, but the cities that you visit in the game were really boring imo. Nothing to really do or see for that matter. I would like either more cities, or at least a few really well designed, active cities. Any news on this. I assume there will be since this is some time after the war and Vegas was not really hit with the nukes.
