[QUOTE="yellerbelly"]I used to play PC games. Moved onto Consoles for the convenience I guess. But I think a big reason as to why I'm not going back to PC gaming is because I wouldn't like to be seen to be associating with the some of the contributors in this thread. Honestly, some of the sheer arrogance on display here from some members is truly astounding. Dynafrom
And some of the sheer ignorance displayed by console gamers is astounding. See what I did there?

I don't even know what ignorance he is talking about when he talks about PC gamers....

I mean most of us PC gamers have had a console and have the knowledge about them.

But a lot of console gamers are completely ignorant of PC stuff and make the most idiotic posts about PC gaming being expensive or needing to upgrade every few months.

My computer is keeping me from doing it. If my labtop was a little bit more advanced I could finally play on but It'll never happen.

Having to spend a fortune on a gaming computer and having to constantly upgrade the PC to be able to play the newest games...

Oh and that I hate the mouse/keyboard combination for anything besides strategy games...

i like to play on my couch, cheap and comparable graphics only spending like 1/4 than that of a gaming pc, i like the controllers, overall i just like the feel of a console even if it is inferior, I have a gaming pc and honestly i don't enjoy sitting on my chair and the overall feeling of pc gaming.

[QUOTE="lowe0"] As I said... you're making a pretty weak claim based on a whole 49 minutes of play time. Do you have any actual proof that I gave up?

anshul89

There's no other reason to play the garbage version. Those couch excuses won't work because it's clear that the pc version is too hard for you.

Here's a bit of a puzzle for you: take a look at my Shattered Horizon stats. Having put in about as much play as I have with BC2 on PS3, I have a decent-but-nothing-special 1.1 k/dr, well above the 0.7 I'm running in BC2 PS3 and well, well above the 0.3 I'm running in BC2 PC. If my stats had anything to do with my choice of game, wouldn't I have abandoned everything else and just gone with SH by now?

Then why not PC game from the couch? I do it all the time.

A slide-under hospital tray for your M/KB or pick up a X360 controller and you're set to go.

Yawn. I said that between two versions of the same game, you would choose the easier one, especially when your KDR is 0.3

I have a kdr of 1.5 in Modern Warfare 2 but I still prefer BC2.

You can't pull game-by-game stats, but it wouldn't surprise me if I was sucking in the 0.3 range for the first hour or so on PS3 as well. Besides, it really doesn't feel any more difficult on PC - I don't see a massive difference there, either. I mean, it's great that you have these hypotheses about what I think and all, but you could try reading my posts, where I write down what I actually think.

My stats say I sucked on PS3, and I sucked on PC. Anyway, take a quick look at your summary - your only comeback is "someone who has a 0.3 k/dr". It's the textbook definition of the ad hominem fallacy - you're trying to dismiss my observations based not on their merit or lack thereof, but on an entirely unrelated personal matter.

Your stats say that you sucked twice as bad on the PC. I'm dismissing your conclusion because you got owned and frustrated, which obviously will have an effect on your opinion.

I don't have a desktop PC to play games on. An Acer 10.1" netbook can be used sparingly for some games, but it becomes almost useless without good hardware and a decently-sized display.

I have a high end custom built computer with a 28" screen and surround sound, however I don't like playing pc games. I prefer controllers to a KBM because i program on a computer for 8 hours/day. Too much mouse action is bad for the old wrists (carpel). BTW: My computer is a i7-920, 6G 1600mhz DDR3, Radeon 4850. I'll be moving to a GTS260 216 shortly.

I actually did a survey in my dormitory on this subject for my pych 300 class.

Couple statements that came up multiple times:

  • None of my friends play on PC.
  • I don't wanna play with keyboard and mouse.
  • I don't have a gaming computer.
  • I never see computer games advertised on tv.
  • I never see any pc games in the stores.
  • I can't play halo, gears, god of war, or killzone.

Those were the top of the list I had accumolated.

Now as I am a PC gamer, I can understand some of findings. People are very advertisement focused. When none of your friends play on Pc or you don't get bombarded with ads for exclusive PC games then people come to conclusion that PC is dumb, waste, boring, to complicated, or does not have any good games. It comes with the culture we live in. I personally though try to educate people on the joys of PC gaming even if its not absolute hardcore gaming. Games for free like trackmania, mechwarrior 4, command & conquer, Combat Arms, wolfenstein, americas army, soldat etc etc of free games really helps me to start people out. Its amazing when people find out good games they can play while they are in class or at home on there laptops. It usually starts folks out rethinking PC gaming in general. I usually then show them direct2drive, impulsedriven, gamersgate, and steam and they start to enjoy 1000's of games for really cheap.

PC gaming has many great exclusives that go unknown outside the Pc fans who know whats to come. Even big name games like starcraft 2 its advertised by the fans more then by the corporate side of things (though for this game there has been many things on gaming mags etc).

Too expensive, don't wanna upgrade every year just to play those 2-4 games I'm interested in.

PSdual_wielder

That's a myth. If you play at resolutions like 1280 or lower, and like maxing out settings (but with stuff like shadows, motion blur and other settings which aren't needed turned low or off) all you need is an ATI Radeon 4670.It's super cheap and is of great value.

There are a lot of people who still have a 8800 GT.They are also pretty happy about still being able to play games at high/medium settings.

Just make sure you build your PC correctly. Read a lot, and make sure you ask in forums.

I just want to game on my 46 inch HDTV while lounging on the couch with a controller in my hand. I also dont have the patience to build my own gaming rig. I like the simple things in life.:P Turn on the tv and console and just start playing.

Khadaj32

This is a joke, right?

Nope. People defending 30fps are a joke.

People who think 30fps is bad are a joke. The extremely slight difference is barely noticeable, saying otherwise is just a sign of ignorance. I get you're trying to get attention by arguing with the majority and whatever, but you're just looking really silly. The difference is as subtle as the difference between 1080i and 720p resolutions, it's just silly.

So much fail in this comment. 30 feels significantly sluggish 60 fps, control wise . And a slight difference between 720 vs 1080p? You'll see when consoles finally reach true Hd resolutions.

Every other title that needs a gaming PC is on my 360 actually

Because simply put

PS3 +360 have all the best PC games

PC has none of PS3+360 best games

It is all about the games, and PC is vastly inferior in that

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"][QUOTE="lhughey"]I have a high end custom built computer with a 28" screen and surround sound, however I don't like playing pc games. I prefer controllers to a KBM because i program on a computer for 8 hours/day. Too much mouse action is bad for the old wrists (carpel). BTW: My computer is a i7-920, 6G 1600mhz DDR3, Radeon 4850. I'll be moving to a GTS260 216 shortly.lowe0
Isnt that about dumb..... you dont like gaming on Pc but you buy gaming graphics cards........

People do crazy stuff. I'm a consolite and I still keep a gaming PC.

Theres a difference he said he dont like playing pc games but yet hes doing a pointless upgrade, but at least you try too play your Pc games.

TBH the only type of gamer that loses is one that is limited by 1 system. PC owners miss out on sick console exclusives, and console owners who neglect PC gaming also miss out on amazing exclusives. It works both ways.

may I ask, what is it that keeps you from playing PC exactly?

ronvalencia

Mobile HD gaming i.e. atleast 1280x720p on console ports. I also travel overseas and other locations, watch Adobe Flash animation, Video Skype, Digital camera/video's overflow storage, record conferences, MS-Excel/Word/Outlook,MS-Remote Desktop/VPN, Visual C++ programming, Unreal3 SDK, Virtualbox, Adobe Photoshop and 'etc'. About 52 watts power consumption during HD gaming i.e. lower than HD consoles.

Do you use some homebrew method to get your 5770 connected to your laptop? Perhaps you're on notebookreview.com?

For me, it is just time. Being a full time student with a part time job and a social life I cannot justify building a gaming PC. I enjoy my consoles thoroughly.

Here's a big reason for me: I'm impatient. I don't like reading about some cool upcoming game and then having to wait and hope that it comes out on pc, only to have it delayed or poorly optimized. I want the game on day 1 and I want the version that they spent the most time on. I also play JRPGs so having a console in the living room is a requirement. I suppose I could keep a pc in the living room but there isn't much point when the best pc exclusives require a mouse and keyboard. And no I'm not going to keep a mouse and keyboard on the coffee table. That isn't couch gaming.

Another issue I have is with digital game prices on the pc. Steam is a great service but the digital version of a multiplat should not be $50 when there's no retail cut or used sales. But pc gamers at some point went along with it and now every new release is $50. Lame. I noticed Splinter Cell on Steam is $60 and requires a constant connection. It also came out a few weeks late. That pretty much sums up why pc gaming is no longer a hobby of mine.

The only big game I'll play on pc this year will be Diablo 3. I'll probably also play a few indy games from Steam but 90% of my gaming will be on the 360.

1. steam doesnt price the games the devs do. 2. why are you complaining about cheaper games?

Well, if you're saying what I think you're saying (I know, sentence construction is a killer), console gamers still pay out a lot of cash since all the games are priced significantly higher than their PC equivalents. The savings you make for the initial console purchase are eventually eroded.

Because i just cant get use to playing games with a mouse and keyboard.Ive always played games with a controller and didnt get my first computer til around 2001.I bought my first home computer for buisness reasons and for what ever reason gaming and pc was always seperate for me.Im sure if i had to i could get use to playing with a mouse and keyboard but id rather use a controller until the day comes when i have to switch console for pc.
