Are you being cerial?

There was no tension or buildup to it like in ME1 and ME3, it was just like "Oh hey, there's that sucide mission we have to do now. May as well get it over with" Although that's mainly due to the lack of development in the abysmal main plot.

Stringerboy

Are you kidding me? Have you forgotten about how
You're crew gets kidnapped by the collectors.
it felt like you needed to go and everything was on the line. Also the fact that you could die any minute.

Oh I do like that plot hole ridden mess by Bioware to install some sense of urgency. But who gives a crap about the crew?

Maybe if they'd have kidnapped Joker or someone who we actually cared about it would have made us want to kill the collectors. But no, it's just a bunch of random crew members who we've never spoke too. Sure there's Kelly but that's about it.

I'm still sad I never got to sleep with Kelly...

Nah. ME2 won too many awards. Places will want to give it to other games, it'll be the Uncharted 3 of this year.

I think ME3 is a front runner at the very least.

The critics defended it from the fans, it was unheard of and I wouldn't be surprised if these same critics view it in as high regard for GotY.

It's so cute how people assume I have bad taste simply because I don't make threads like this for overhyped "AAA" garbage such as Halo 4. What in the hell is special about this game folks? How does it warrant GOTY? What has it done that's new? Mindless sheep.

You are a sheep and you only like what the media tells you to like. Live a little bit and take a trip off the beaten path like I do. You will be surprised by just how damn good a lot of the games are that get totally ignored. Some of them blow these so called AAA franchises out of the water.

Didn't we just have a conversation about how great Vanquish is like a week ago.....

Ok so maybe you're not a sheep but don't you think it's a little premature to assume Halo 4 or AssCreed 3 will be GOTY before even playing them?

Still gonna be Mass Effect 3 for me, the Bioware answered by extending the ending (which I will admit should have been done in the first place), but I still loved it, and am going to do a complete replay the trilogy soon. I personally just love ME, the astmosphere, the environements, music, I enjoy the combat too. The story, characters are amazing.

Gears of War for the bros and hoes. Mass Effect for the scholars and gentlemen. Except for Mass Effect 2. That's also bros and hoes territory. But we'll let it slide in the context of the trilogy.

Having no Krogan squad mate was dissapointing though. I don't get what Bioware meant be having a smaller squad meant greater connections with them. Miranda, Grunt, Samara, Jack, and even *gulp* Jacob should have been squad mates. And we should've at least gotten a Batarian one. Oh, and loyalty missions would have been great.

Gears of War had more influence on this gen than every BioWare game from this gen combined. Saying otherwise is flat-out wrong.

Loved Gears... great Ip... really great gunplay and cool premise, but nothing enraptured me as a gamer and weaved me in the universe like ME... the characters, and living breathing lore to that story was like nothing ive ever played before. I play ME sometimes just to BE in that world.

Very true. From a gameplay perspective.

From a world-building and story-telling perspective, BioWare had the influence (even if CD Projekt was there with them in 2007, but BioWare was bigger and more influential).

BioWare hasn't really influenced any other RPG studios, though. Mass Effect does nothing that KoTOR and other games did years ago, save allowing your "decisions" to carry over, none of which actually mattered in the end.

Funny you ask... i saved revelations for the better part of a year so id have a fresh ac before ac3 came out. I beat it a couple weeks ago... so im good there. My me3 run stems from finishing every achievment in the trilogy. (I have three left) . I wrote the me3 review for a website when it launched. I blazed through it, so i shelved it for six months so i could go back and savor it... its so wildly entertaining, its like im experiencing it again for the first time... only insanely more difficult.

How'd you like Revelations, then? I find that it gets an unfairly bad rep. The ending, especially, is incredible, and it totally ties so many loose ends up at once, it's unbelievable. I liked ME3 a lot when I first played it, though it's easily my least favorite in the series. Gotta go back and play through it again though.

You told me it was good. I watched the IGN recap of all the games. There are no words for how stupid this sh!t is.

IKR. Miranda was a poor substitute :( Why're you replaying it now? :P I figured you'd be gearing up for AC3 by going through, at least, the Ezio trilogy.

Assassins creeds story is quite frankly one of the reasons i always go back... i loved the setting, Constantinople was great (though Rome was my favorite) and I really really liked the arch of the game... it was almost like a spiderweb of plots converging together... ezio, desmond and altier colliding in a fantastic end to ezios story.... truthfully it was a tad on the short side and a few new game elements i avoided (den defense blah) but yeah im with you... it was an outstanding end to ezios story and a fantastic set up to, judging by our sigs, an insanely hyped ac3... cant wait to compare notes. Didnt know u were a big fan.

But I like it ;__; You can't tell me you like NOTHING.

Also, where'd you see the recaps lol? Maybe they did a bad job.

This is probably what you should watch to get a good idea of the story. It's only 2ish minutes, and it does a great job.

Er, where were you when we had this dispute in the Halo 4 hype thread? I had to fend off hordes of little rap loving wannabe thugs all by myself:x

TheDidact

I wouldn't venture into that hellpit for all the tea in Boston, sorry.

OMG your sig is hilarious. Photoshop Mario with Burger King in there too.

That's what I'd have to do, because Mario doesn't sell out like MC and Drake. ;)

Big fan? Bro, Assassin's Creed is my favorite series this generation, and Assassin's Creed II my favorite game of the generation :P And yeah, some of the stuff felt insanely mundane and tacked on. The Tower Defense was bad, and good god was that rope hookshot underutilized. It should have been so much more. Still, it was a great game, very well done, and I can't wait to see how AC3 turns out.

Well it depends. This is just a prediction for the critics. We could all be wrong and something out of left field takes it. It's always fun to predict what will be GotY even if I end up just playing whatever I want. I mean, you can't even trust the damn critics these days. :P

TheDidact

Well in that case Borderlands 2 is gonna drop out of nowhere and sweep all of the awards. Flawless victory!

Has that graveyard glitch been patched yet?

In BL2? Never heard of a graveyard glitch. What is it?

Gears of War had more influence on this gen than every BioWare game from this gen combined. Saying otherwise is flat-out wrong.DarkLink77

I'm at work so trying to keep these short. :P And my boss is near me.....

I think it has had more of an influence on gaming outside of and within RPGs. If we look at the success of Mass Effect, we start to see how the grander story-telling made way for games to start telling their stories as trilogies, how "choice" in general began getting more implementation in games than before. At the end of the day, ME1 is just a real-time KotOR, ME2 is a character driven Gears of War, and ME3 takes the best aspects of both and combines them. But the idea of building proper, unique worlds also had a major part in gaming this gen. The evolution of dialogue systems came about as well. It's not new in how it plays in anyway at all, if anything it took inspiration from Gears with its later sequels, but it has been influential for many people.

On PC and 360 if you play Coop you can get a glitch where once you die you go into spectator mode and if you try to back out/restart you lose all of your saved data. The glitch is also contagious. Your save appears with .graveyard or something. Some pretty freaky stuff. :|

I agree. It's sad no one played Darksiders 2, that was an amazing game too.

Oh come on brah, that is so awesome. Takes the best from pulp science fiction, pulp thrillers, conspiracy theories, everything, and wraps it all up in one great narrative.

I have the PS3 version so that's probably why I haven't heard of it, unless it's on there too.

Brah, sometimes I like mindless stuff :P Assassin's Creed gives me just that, so I'm not complaining. Did you watch the 2 minute clip I gave you?
