So Reggie said the games will be 1080. Does that mean real 1080, or upscaled 1080?

[QUOTE="daveg1"]what a joke the wii u is its the worst console in history abd you can forget about those leaked specs lol its weaker than 360/ps3 looking at the games..CDUB316
they didn't even show any games....those 3rd part games that were shown weren't from the wiiU...they were just gameplay from other consoles
so they showed gameplay from the ps3 and 360 at a nintendo confrence about a new nintendo console??[QUOTE="Wanderer5"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Same here. Why call the EA guy on stage when you don't even unveil any game? WTF?charizard1605
So wait were all those multiplats games not the Wii U versions? I... And dear god I hope they change the name. I can't say Wii U without laughing.:P
I kinda like the name. Did they actually confirm any game for the Wii U? :?So those games were there just for Nintendo to show that Wii U can do those graphics? Why didn't they just use actual Wii U games then?
No offense to the SWM guys... but an actual thread with info in the OP about the WiiU would be far more useful.
From Nintendo's Press Release:
"Wii U redefines the structure of home entertainment by fundamentally changing how the TV, the game console and the Internet function and interact together"
Previously, video games played on a home console have been confined to the TV and offered identical viewpoints to each player in a multiplayer environment. Furthermore, watching TV and playing console games have been completely separate experiences. The new controller removes these boundaries, creating a more dynamic and fluid gaming and entertainment experience. Visitors to the E3 Expo will see firsthand the type of gaming experiences made possible by Wii U and the new controller such as:
In single-player games:
The new controller can display information on its screen that does not appear on the TV.
The information and viewpoint can also change in the new controller based on the orientation of its gyroscope.
In multiplayer games:
The player using the new controller can have a different experience than those looking at the TV. This will offer a wide variety of competitive and cooperative opportunities.
In addition to the 6.2-inch screen, the new controller also features an accelerometer and a gyroscope, a rumble feature, an inward-facing camera, a microphone and speakers. Adding these features to the ****c Controller™ button scheme – two analog Circle Pads, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons – will enable a breadth of game-play experiences while appealing to both casual and dedicated video game players.
Wii U combines motion-sensing game play with the ability to support full HD graphics. Each Wii U console will be partnered with a new controller and can also use up to four additional Wii Remote™ or Wii Remote Plus controllers. The system is also backward compatible and can play all Wii games and use all Wii accessories. The Wii console has sold more than 86 million units globally and greatly expanded the overall audience for video games. Wii U aims to expand that audience even further. Developers worldwide are already working on new games and experiences for the console.
"Wii U redefines the structure of home entertainment by fundamentally changing how the TV, the game console and the Internet function and interact together," said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. "The experience enabled by Wii U and the new controller takes players deeper into their games, while reaching out wider than ever before to be inviting to all kinds of gamers."Nintendo

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="BigBoss255"] It looked more casual friendly than the Wii, who in their right mind would play a game like Skyrim on that awkward controller. How exactly did they win you back?.DroidPhysXWell, it has support from the hardcore developers. We need to see Epic and Rockstar on board though. That doesnt make a difference if people don't buy the games. Wii has the most consoles sold and yet it has crappy sales for core games.
that's because most of those sales aren't from core gamers

Because they're nowhere near finished? It's another year and a half before they're going to be out (and that's just the launch games).[QUOTE="Cafe2012"][QUOTE="painguy1"] srsly hope that what we saw was just 360 trailers & tht the real games will run at 1080p 60fps. SCREENS on a controller = huge fail ...
remember all the cracked screens the DS had to/still deals with ?
I guess the fact that personally I was always okay with mini console games is why I liked the Vita showing so much, Uncharted and Wipeout looked incredible. So did Mario 3DS, but Mario Kart and Luigi didn't do much for me.[QUOTE="FIipMode"][QUOTE="Lionheart08"]
While the 3DS line up looked promising, I couldn't shake off the PSP Dejavu; games that would seem to be better fit on consoles being on handhelds instead.

Honestly, it was the LBP and ModNation Racers stuff that impressed me most about the Vita. :P
I like how Modnation handles the back touch pad. At first I was meh about the track pad but seeing that made me think it has some good uses, like playing tower games without having to put your fingers all over the screen.[QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"][QUOTE="Golden_Boy187"]$399 for the controller and $100 for the console. lol what? It's just a guess but come on...that thing streams HD games in real time? Let's face it the controller IS the console. That other thing is where the discs go lol.I wonder how much the controllers are going to cost

First thing I thought of when I saw the new controller and the name
It looks pretty cool, I guess. Although, its understandable that they wouldnt have much to show as its about a year and a half out...
As for the 3DS I was a little disappointed. They only showed 1 game we didnt know about, none of the other games were given firm release dates, plus they didnt talk about any future features like netflix. Also, where were the 3rd party games for it? I cannot wait for previews of all those ninty games though.
You must've jumped when they showed Luigi's mansion 2 :lol:ShinobishyguyIt was one of these: But Kid Icarus also inspired that as well. Also made me wonder why its on the 3DS and not a WiiU launch title. It is basically Nintendo's God of War and its being handheld'd.

I don't know. I think they were rushed into revealing the console, to be honest. They revealed absolutely nothing. Now, the tech demo for the system looked beautiful. Show me the specs, and I'll be convinced.Every time Nintendo innovated, this is what people say. That it'll fail. You know what happens? It doesn't.SCREENS on a controller = huge fail ...

Sure it will have a few additional neat features only possible on the controller, but that alone isn't worth buying a new console over.
In the end it will be up to Nintendo to show why we should buy WiiU... sadly, they seem to have not gotten very far yet. I'm also kinda amused that the two titles they announced they would "eventually" develop are both coming to the 3DS.

1. How are people confused by the presentation? From the opening tech demo with the bird and trees to the footage of cross platform games running on other consoles, it all made sense to me.
2. Of course it's all about the controller. You can't just make a more powerful system and call it quits, you have to bring something to the table to make yourself stand out from your competitors.
3. This thing won't be released until after E3 of next year, when the Wii was announced more than a year out, all we got were those stupid videos of people making gestures with no gameplay footage.
Wow... based on the complaints and ratings on this board, how did Nintendo manage to win E3 and make everyone angry at them at the same time?

How exactly did they win you back?. Pfft. Who in their right mind would play Skyrim on a console? :P They didn't win my undying fandom. They simply won my interest and most likely a my money. If I get the cafe it will be the first Nintendo platform I've owned since I was 13, when the 64 came out. I'm pretty interested in some of the controller functions and (since I have children of my own now) the kid and family friendly games that don't look like complete crap thanks to HD.
Nintendo announced the WiiU way too early. Depending on when more information is leaked it could be about as powerful as the next Sony and Microsoft offerings based on when they hit. All we've seen for it is multiplat trailers pretty much. So as long as it's powerful enough and if Nintendo really does win back real third party support in addition to its ungodly first party, it'll definitely be my console of choice. My biggest concern right now is honestly whether or not Nintendo will actually get online for the damn thing right.

This. No developer said anything oustanding about its specs other than to say that it's high def. Clearly the graphics are not the system's most outstanding feature for developers.
