Safe and boring pick by GS as was expected.
Oh well still a very nice top 5 list there, seems like Bloodborne was THE best exclusive of 2015.

@Sollet: Gamespot haven't gone with safe and boring in a very long time now- they did Demon's Souls in 2009, when the world went for Uncharted 2. They went for RDR in 2010, when the world went for Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Mass Effect 2. They did Journey in 2012, when the world went for Mass Effect 3. They did A Link Between Worlds in 2013, when the world went for The Last of Us. They did Shadow of Mordor in 2014, when everyone else went for Dragon Age.
Gamespot almost always stands out with its picks for GotY.

Dang. Overlooked that one but I thought it might have been top 10 instead considering how many people seemed to praise it. I guess it is still in a honeymoon period.
And also the fact that it won the Greatest Game Ever in GameFAQs
Surprised that there is no Undertale.

It deserved to be in top 5. I'd definitely replace Mario Maker with it
Well, it's the top 5 list we all expected, just not in the order that I was expecting.
It's solid though. They actually managed to get 2 of the years best games in the top 5. Probably 3 of them actually, I just haven't played Rocket League, can't speak on that one.

This keeps track of games that won the most awards in their respective years Red Dead was getting its, in fact Mario galaxy 2 would have been the unconventional pick that year (albeit a popular one). And it wasn't Mass Effect 3, it was The Walking Dead piling on the awards in 2012. Mario Galaxy 2 only won 17 GOTY awards from a critic. Red Dead had 87, including Gamespot.
So, Bloodborne is still better than anything Xbox had to offer in its best year
It's better than anything else on the PS4 as well, not really surprising.
Just glad FO4 isn't winning many(any?) GotY awards. I love that game, but seriously, Bethesda need to stop with the overzelous streamlining. Every game they release has trimmed down or removed features from the previous one.
conclusion 2015
ps4>>pc>>>>>>xposbone>>wiiu
untill dawn>>>>>>>>>halo 5
cows>>>>>>>lems
Not sure how you come to that conclusion, Wii U has more exclusives on the list than Xbox One, and they are ranked higher than Xbox One exclusives

Agreed. This year it was a no brainer.
I don't understand how people have such strong feelings about things they don't own or haven't played. I feel like I can't get too upset over the list because there are 8 games in that Top 25 list that I don't own. I'm happy that Splatoon, Rocket League and Mario Maker made the list because they are all great games. I would move The Witcher 3 down to 5 and Until Dawn to the 20's but this isn't my list, so whatever.
Curious, how do they go about making this list? Was this decided among the staff, or player votes? I just looked at the individual staff top 10 picks and it doesn't really reflect the overall results at all.

GOTY is picked by all the staff together, and it's the game they think is the best. Their individual picks are just their favorite games. Favorite games are not always what they consider to be the best.
Surprised with how much I agree with their favorites. MGSV at #1 and Bloodborne at #2. Despite that, I can't deny what The Witcher 3 did for open world RPGs and writing in games.
