@with_teeth26: they're gonna put Evolve, but not the order? I say this absolutely because there's no way in hell the order makes the top ten.
the order wont be on there.

Arkham Knight doesn't deserve to be in the Top 10. I would have accepted its inclusion in the Top 25, not agreed with it, but accepted it regardless. Top 10 is laughable.
I would be hard pressed to believe there were 25 video games this year that were better than Arkham Knight.
Eh, every list on every site has the same top games, the only thing different about these lists is the order in which the games are ranked.
This thread is textbook example of gamers can't handle a diverse group of lists of the best games this year.
A: a good chunk won't play 25 actual games from this year, much less 25 that they think were all good or better|
B: Finish the games
C: Can't accept that just because their pick didn't win, or didn't make a top 10, that the list is no less valid.
Simon Parkin has a pretty rad list for um The New Yorker: http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/best-video-games-2015
Even on gaf, you had people bitching that he's click baiting...he works for the fucking New Yorker. They don't need to click bait lol
Pretty sure we already know what the top 10 is gonna be. Don't know what the numbering will be, but I think it's safe to say these will be the games: The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, Bloodborne, Rocket League, Undertale, Super Mario Maker, Ori and the Blind Forest, Pillars of Eternity, Arkham Knight
Sounds about right, Undertale has been taken off though, and there's no way in hell Arkham Knight is getting on. Annoyed Fallout's going to be there, it's definitely in the Top 20, but not Top 10, disappointed to see Splatoon and Xenoblade not in the Top 10 but whatever, Gamespot's a popular circlejerk.
No, stupid, they waited quite a few days to review it.
On a side note - lay of the whiskey when you post. While I rarely (and I mean rarely) give two-shits what you say, it would be nice if your dumb comments didn't need decoding.
AND.?
Is that bad how? because they dare wait for the actual release to see if the game worked.? So in your eyes they should have slap a 9 even if the game didn't work and call it great.
Until Dawn > Halo 5?
Hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....
Poor lemms an unlimited game basically in gameplay hours was beat by a 5 hour movie...ahahahaa
On 2012 Halo was beat by Journey now by Until Dawn.. But but but only gamespot score matter in gamespot..lol
Is SOMA not that good?
Or in the way that Until Dawn is higher on the list?
I mean...I like my David Cage type games but I figured the guys who made Amnesia would cut a pretty good game in the setting they picked.

why would arkham be on any list? Halo 5 deserves being in the top 10 more than that garbage batman game.
Arkham Knight is an excellent game. I can't speak for the PC version, but other than a few Batmobile sections, Arkham Knight was a very well made game. No reason why it cannot be in the Top 5.
And I can't speak for Halo 5 either, since I have't played it. But I do know that if Knight were to make it into the Top 10, I would have no qualms with it. In fact, I would be very pleased.
Splatoon is too high.
It's a game for children, it's built for children. How does that even rank here?
It's an incredible game that is fun regardless of what your age is. It's more fun than grown up games like Black Ops 3 can even hope to be.
In fact, it's almost a shame it didn't make it into the Top 10 AT THE VERY LEAST.
@with_teeth26: and then watch BLOPS 3 get number one lmao
I highly doubt Black Ops 3 will be in the top 25 at all. I'm predicting near a zero percent chance of that game appearing in the top 25.One of things that will prevent it from making the list is the 7 it got. The other thing is if everyone that takes part in the GOTY for discussions thinks the game should be in the top 25 which is unlikely.
Pretty funny how people think their opinion > anyone's else
We get it, your game is not where you think it should be on the list.
@b_rich84: I did not play evolve for long. But if you read their reasoning behind why they picked Evolve, it might make sense
To a point I agreed with them. Playing with my friend on Skype that game was pretty f****ing awesome. When it worked, it worked nicely, but when it did not work it was a meh game. And without a doubt, he direction of the game, it was quite risky.

While I definitely don't agree with the list GameSpot has given so far, I would agree with what you've said. We just have to deal with it, it's their opinion, we aren't right, they aren't right. It's only right to ourselves, and ourselves only of what the top games are (unless you have friends that feel the same as you). Gaming is so big now and humans are so complex that of course the lists are going to be similar and also radically different from each other. I personally wouldn't put games like Until Dawn or Dying Light above Splatoon or Xenoblade Chronicles X as well as some others, but that's just my bias playing in. Anyways, I respect GS' list, not how I would have put the order, but so far, I see no game I wouldn't agree with at least being in the top 25.

Cities: Skylines and Splatoon are well deserved. The developers of Cities: Skylines are a really cool bunch of people that made a city builder that's great in its own way and Splatoon was really enjoyable.
You can sort of guess what the final 10 will be just by looking at the platform nominations.
It should be: Mario Maker, Rocket League, Fallout 4, MGSV, Witcher 3, Kerbal Space Program, Ori & The Blind Forest, Bloodborne, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Dunno what the remaining one will be. I'm guessing Batman or Tales from the Boderlands. This thread will be awesome if it's Destiny: The Taken King or Pro Evolution Soccer.
Tales of Zestiria better be in the top 10 thnx
If XCX is number 15, there's no way Tales is in a better spot than XCX.

There's the Super600 we all known and by golly love!

Regardless of the score, BLOPS 3 doesn't deserve to be on the list either way. Maybe in the Top 25, but now that there's only 10 spots left, I don't think BLOPS deserves a place.

The taken king is an expansion pack to the original destiny game. It won't be in Gamespot's top25 game of the year list.
Games #10 to #6 has been posted.
Strange, no Super Mario Maker.
Which means it's probably going to show up in the Top 5.
What are #10-#6?
Okay, Fallout 4 at #6. This is a (pleasant surprise). I'm glad it didn't make it into the Top 5, and glad that it made it into the Top 10.

Looks like I was right with this. Tales From the Borderlands took the questionable spot. Final spots should be:
Mario Maker
Bloodborne
Rocket League
Metal Gear Solid V
The Witcher 3
#6 is honestly too high for Fallout 4. I was okay with it being in the Top 10, but #6 is far more than it deserves.
I guess the Top 5 are The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, Super Mario Maker, Starcraft 2, and...?
EDIT: Bloodborne. D'oh
EDIT 2: That doesn't seem right, where does Rocket League go then? Does Starcraft 2 outright not get a mention?

No shit einstein. But in the amusing world and for the health of this already amusing thread, Destiny: The Taken King being there would be hilarious. There's apparently a significant number of Gamespot Staff that plays the game together day in day out.
@charizard1605: Doubt it. Starcraft wasnt nominated in the Gamespot PC GOTY category. Kerbal Space Program was the only exclusive mentioned which is on the list already.
I really dont know why StarCraft 2 would be there in particular. It's a worthy addition to the series. But there are plenty of PC games that got the same review score on Gamespot this year that are just as deserving to be on any list. I also doubt much of the Gamespot staff really dug into its content rich package considering it released in a packed month.

Fair enough. So Rocket League, Bloodborne, Witcher, Mario Maker, and MGSV it is. Not in that order.
What a joke these awards have been this year on gamespot lol
What specifically are you taking issue with?
Cool to see Ori and RoTR get some top 10 love.
There are still many games I haven't played so I can't bitch about the totality of the list. Then again, I doubt anyone here can. So the outrage it's elicting is quite laughable.
@AzatiS: you have to be 12 years old. This site has no prob making sony look bad and hive em low scores. I been on this site for years. You sound stupid
Fallout is my GOTY on pure, "I can't put this f****** game down!" factor alone... I get the gripes... Missions run very similarly and that can wear after a long while, but I can't say I'm anything but completely content and immersed playing it. Buiding it, and discovering it. I'm ready for something new after this mammoth run is over.
Considering skipping the next elder scrolls too... Though, I'm suspect that they're allowing ES to lead with new tech and new ideas, where fallout is batting clean up.
