[QUOTE="locopatho"][QUOTE="Bigboi500"]All I'm saying is Nintendo made the game within the parameters that were accessible on the Wii, and that was a smart move on their part. There's no point in trying to judge what might have been possible on better hardware, people could do that with the HD twins too and say what might have been possible if their games were made on state-of-the-art PC tech, but that would be pointless as well.

Shinobishyguy

I think it's a bit different with PC, it kinda operates on its own plane. Same for handhelds. But the 3 consoles are pretty similar in how they work, and how much they cost. I think they should be held to the same standard. Yeah it's a bit silly to hammer every single Wii game for not having HD... but at the same time my Wii console cost me the same as my 360, and the games actually work out dearer (since they never seem to drop in price...) so why not have the same standard? Just a thought, again you can't please everyone with a review system...

so what? every wii game is automatically at a disadavantage because they're not in HD?

Well yeah that's a fact like. SD < HD.

I should send Shane Shatterfield my medical bills due to the amount of facepalms that I've done after he's said something. The guy seems pretty dense.

the fact that this is coming from a site that is %100 completely out of touch with PC gaming is hilarious.

i agree with everything he said there, except for assassin's creed being used as an example of an exemplary current gen game. you guys shoudnt get so up in arms about this. its not a crazy, fringe opinion.

Im sorry, but now that graphics, character animations, and environments are becoming closer and closer to being photorealistic, it only makes sense that games should move towards cinematic presentation.

Alot of gamers arrogantly consider themselves "purists" and they are frozen in total fear at this prospect of change. they subsequently lash out at any game that tries to further this area and, with a pretentious bravado, deem them to be lesser forms of the art.

If the success of games like uncharted show anything, its that the industry isn't listening to these people. and im glad for it. Because I want more games like uncharted, heavy rain, god of war 3, killzone 3, and less games like skyward sword.

So you want more games trying really hard to be B-movies with as little gameplay as possible, and less of what actually makes gaming as an art form unique: interactivity. Gotcha.

This guy has an opinion that I disagree with. I think that he needs to get his head out of his butt and realize that AC and Zelda are two totally different types of games.

Didn't someone from nintendo mention something about overhauling the whole gamepley mechanic for their next Zelda title? Is this the result?

Yeah... I seriously don't get the people that want the future of gaming to move away from gaming... It doen't make sense at all to me. There's nothing wrong with people likeing games like Uncharted, but it seems pretty clear to me that it is a de-evolution.

uncharted is very far from being B-movie material

and if you are asserting that uncharted doent offer that much interacticity, than that is just absurd. uncharted has the most intricate and polished mechanics of any shooter out there and also some of the best melee combat.

Uncharted screams "B-movie Indiana Jones knock-off." Sorry to break it to you, but the story ain't that good. And the most intricate and polished mechanics? The shooting isn't that good either, especially in 3, which was a step back. And some of the best melee combat? Maybe in three. Maybe. it's finally useful, but best? Eh.

I find funny posters that say that all games should be like Uncharted, not seeing the quality in other games and posters that spend 90% of their time here bashing it... Gaming is a matter of preferences and both Zelda and Uncharted are quality titles in their respective area But keep on with the arguments (?), it is fun to read those.

Wow, I'd like to than the TC for making his fellow nintendo fans look more rabid than the other pathetic factions combined, It wasnt even a review its hands on impression. He said himself atleast three times, he hasnt finished it yet, and I doubt anyone else here has played the game, which in reality makes his opinion more credible than anyone here.

what will you do if he rates zelda less than a 9? :P

here's an inconvenient truth people, Zelda aint perfect, it is not a gift from the almighty himself.

Exactly, it;s just funny to see rage at the evils of scripting when so many of the best games are, I sometimes think people don't even understand the terms they are talking about

But there's a difference between scripted events like "the level is falling apart around you" and the more trademark "give the player as little control as possible so we can pan the camera around because that's what they would've done in Indiana Jones" of the Uncharted titles. The former still affords the player a reasonable degree of agency, the latter makes you think the developers consider the player a necessary inconvenience.

So, there is no room anymore for games that are trying to be games? Lets be honest, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect, God of War etc...are trying to be movies in game form. Now I love Uncharted, Heavy Rain and Mass Effect (not GOW3) as much as any other fan, but I also love games that are just trying to be fun and clever. Games like Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, LBP, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter etc...Games like these have a much longer impact on me than the cinematic games above. With something like Uncharted or GOW, I just remember the coolest set piece and the parts I disliked the most. With something like SMG2 or DKCR, I remember the whole experience and just how much fun I had with the game. TBH, I barely remember anything about GOW 3 except the beggining fight, Cronos fight and the dull maze and huge spike in difficulty that destroyed the last quarter of the game. With DKCR or LBP, I remember all the different stages and enemies I encountered, and recall the blast it was to play. There is room for both experiences, and one shouldn't die for the other.

You took those quote out of context. Zeldas towns are barren, with zero atmosphere due to 1 or 2 NPCs standing there doing nothing.

Zelda is outdated. This isn't 2003 anymore.

I agree with Gametrailers Chief editor...

just because a game is 50 hours, doesn't mean you're actually getting 50 hours of gameplay value... repitition isn't all that awesome you know.

PLUS THAT'S 50 HOURS OF YOUR LIFE, and not every single moment in that 50 hours will be high moments. I'm pretty sure a 50 hour game will have just as much high moments as a 20 hour game... just sayin.

most Zelda games don't rely in filler crap, there are just few examples of this: Triforce hunting in WW, PH main castle. So I'm not worried about this, but I agree with the concept, that's why I despise MMORPG and Pokemon games :P

Thisssss Uncharted's story is awful. Uncharted 3 was almost as bad as the first and worse than the 2nd, they didn't tie a number of loose ends......and the ending itself was about 2 minutes long (because they obviously couldn't think of anything to write). Ugh......to hear anyone say Uncharted has a good story makes me facepalm. And it's a shame because it actually started out interesting.

Why are you getting upset over that comment? You do realize that Zelda is getting perfect scores all across the board, and the game will no doubt sell greatly. You have no reason to be upset at all. Now if Zelda were in danger of getting low sales and going completely unnoticed then I'd understand but that is not the case, no matter what one person's opinion is, the game will no doubt be better than most major releases this year.

Why do these people even play video games? I am getting so sick of every single game now trying to emulate that stupid "cinematic" bs... Sure its cool but you aren't playing a game you are watching cutscenes with minimal interaction possibly. If you want to watch a movie than go do that. I am sick of every game that has a demo at e3 being 3 minutes of a guy walking around slowly just looking at his game enviroment moving the camera as slowly as possible with some charcter walking right next to you blabbing about a story that doesn't even make any sense. I miss when it was actually cool looking gameplay that impressed people at E3

TC as this guy beleives this way , you , from what i see , beleive exactly the opposite. Youre both wrong. period. People got different tastes , opinions and likes. Than you and his that is. So yeah i like WAY MORE games like BF3 , DIABLO 3 etc than Trauma center and Street fighter 4 than SSBM but i got fun also with Plants VS zombies or Zelda WW. People forget that many people around the globe have 200-300euros/dollars per month wage and they can afford to buy 2-3-4-5 games per year only. What you think theyll buy? Wii sports? Not really... Whys that? Because of the same reasons Shanes talking about.

About Zelda...Ok , nice game but some people prefer other games to play instead...So what?

And Wii is OFFICIALY 90.99% dead by Nintendo itself , so why youre so sensitive about whats hes saying... Blame Nintendo.

I've heard that he is biased in favour of the 360.

supdotcom
You can tell he favors the 360 over the PS3 and hates on the Wii the most, but it is his opinion and he is allowed to have that opinion.

Whatever he likes, I guess. I haven't touched Call of Duty Modern Warfare since I completed the single player campaign. As for Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and A Link to the Past, I've played them over and over throughout the years. They don't feel dated to me, but that's my opinion. His can be different. I don't necessarily have to agree with it.

I don't know about him, but I found Twilight Princess more fun than both AC2 and AC:Brotherhood combined.

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="arbitor365"]

uncharted is very far from being B-movie material

and if you are asserting that uncharted doent offer that much interacticity, than that is just absurd. uncharted has the most intricate and polished mechanics of any shooter out there and also some of the best melee combat.

Lethalhazard

Uncharted screams "B-movie Indiana Jones knock-off." Sorry to break it to you, but the story ain't that good. And the most intricate and polished mechanics? The shooting isn't that good either, especially in 3, which was a step back. And some of the best melee combat? Maybe in three. Maybe. it's finally useful, but best? Eh.

Nothing makes me facepalm more than hearing someone say MGS4 has a good story. Atleast the Unchated games have good stories in the sense that they are fun and you care for the characters.
