Giant Bomb says PC gaming is dying

Sorry but I would rather read a review from Jeff, Ryan D or Brad S. over anyone on GS right now.

try naming a PC game that does have hype/advertising trains the size of a city.

Ryan Davis, not Jeff, was the one who made the blatantly wrong comment...

He complained about 1 hour installs(which is BS), constant patching(again... BS), and constantly updating drivers(yet again... BS).

Most installs are 10 minute MAYBE. Patching practically does itself these days, and if it doesn't it takes like 5 minutes to do. Same with drivers...

Thing is, Ryan also said he though Company of Heroes could be done on consoles... Thankfully, the only informed one there, Brad, said "Hell no! I still haven't even learned all the controls and gotten a grip on it on the M+KB, screw thinking about trying it on a controller."

They just seemed largely uninformed and foreign to PC gaming. Which is fine I guess..

No, not because its false or anything but because it came from Epic? ..Microsoft? and Activision? All of these companies should be considered the epitome of hypocrisy when it comes down to PC gaming. :|

Counterstrike is overrun by shadowrun and THEN by COD4 which is more popular in XBL then it is on PC. Halo 3 recieved universally better reviews and thus better then Crysis.

Halo 3 is nothing but a hypefest, that noobs got all excited about a run of the mill fps that did nothing special or new, and just ran on hype..

CS series has more players than COD4, and imo cod series sucked after 2, and cod is not more popular on XBL,

I say Halo, Custom Edition, and Two because they're on pc and you can make custom maps for the latter two.

How is this fine? As a "videogame" website focusing on editorial reviews, they should be fully aware of the industry including the PC because it still remains as relevant as consoles. When it comes down to it, a videogame website focusing on "videogames" should be informed and should think logically with some backbone to their statement (Company of Heroes on consoles..yeah right).

This guy isn't worth arguing with. He only posts opinions. He is yet to post a single fact to back up his claims. Others in this thread, myself included, have posted facts and he completely ignores them.

PC is BY FAR the most popular gaming platform (see the link provided earlier) with over 260 million gamers. PC is BY FAR the most profitable platform and has BY FAR the most highly rated titles and exclusives.

Maybe he'll respond this time with his mythical facts that he claims to have even though he's yet to post them.

As far as I see it the point of the PC gaming alliance is to fight against the "perception", falsified information like "PC gaming is dying" and "PC games dont sell alot" but then these representatives that from time to time creates contradictions as we all know (Especially Epic).

the 360 runs a form of Windows XP

PS3 runs an operating system that sony developed

and the wii runs a custom linux based OS

I meant in terms of games, I just view consoles and PC as an equal where none overtakes the other (and it would be opinionated anyway if you say that one-side is better then the other). The thing is that a low-tech PC is only limited to PC games (well unless... you do some "things") and the same holds true to consoles. The PC does have alot more games then the next-generation systems yes (and will always have a larger library of games) but as long as there are still console exclusives, a low-tech PC =/= 360.

Ya, I don't really trust website reviews anymore but I am just saying if I HAD to listen to someone it would be them.

The only reason I still come to GS is for the fourms. That's it; the rest of the site has fallen apart.

Jeff Gerstmann, Ryan Davis, Brad Shoemaker, and Vinny Caravella make up GiantBomb at this point. In my opinion, they are some of the best minds the gaming community has to offer. They all have different opinions and really truly know the industry. They know it far better than anyone on here could hope to.

I dunno, Shawn Elliot from 1up.com is one of the most honest and thoughtful journalists I've listened to (gfw podcast). He's also hilarious to boot, as anyone who knows his Second Life activities understands. ;)
