For the the people complaining out there I would actually listen to the podcast. The GiantBomb crew delivers both criticisms and supporting comments for PC gaming.
Here's some knocks I heard Ryan Davis say about PC gaming.
Setup costs: True, it's going to be more then buying a console
Installing games: He complained about this a lot, but MGS4 requires an 8 minute install, this is pretty quick though compared to most PC game installs.
Windows Live for game sucks: agreed, good idea bad implementation
The crew also talked about piracy, this is a huge problem with PC gaming, there's a lot of people doing it.
Supporting comments.
Steam is driving PC gaming: I agree, it may be the last stronghold for PC gaming, thank you Valve!
Still the best for MMO's and RTS's: agree, yet like Jeff said in time these game will become more common on consoles.
So there you have it, there is no "PC gaming sucks!", its a good conversation between 4 of the greatest former Gamespot editors and now owners of there own gaming website company.

1. Set up costs are alot better now than a few years back
2. Installs don't take that long and has the tradeoff of faster loading (not just levels but textures etc, see GeoW)
3. GFWL is a bad idea with worse implementation
4. Piracy is a problem but it gets blown out of proportion, and is much more rampant for music, film and TV
5. yea steam is very good
6. Still best for FPS too (esp multiplayer, faster pace, higher player count)
