For comparison : Uncharted 4 sold 2.7 million in it's first week and Horizon sold 2.6 million in 2 weeks

I love when people boil down Spencer's remark. I'm not saying he was out-and-out correct, but he explicitly stated that he wasn't stating that the audiences are just as large.

Regardless, the game is amazing, so it's not surprising.

P.S. Sticky.

This goes to show you single player games aren't even dead and Spencer was so full of himself for saying such a thing. Single player>MP.

I still have lots to do in God of War so I have yet to beat it. Such a fun game.

Bow down to the God of Sales, peasants! Honestly though, at this stage of the game, even if Xbox had a decent single player game it couldn't hope to touch the sales of GoW. That's why they're going full-on with GaaS so they can milk the Xbox diehards until they can figure out what to do for next-gen.

@Ant_17: "They"?

This is one of the highest profile, biggest budget single player game to come out in recent times. 5 years to develop. Very few single player games can afford that. This game is an exception, not the norm.

I recently finished it and enjoyed it a lot, but its done....I feel very little reason to go back to it to replay it. Even finishing Rise of the Tomb Raider I felt much more compelled to keep playing it because it added a ton of extra modes likes endurance and leaderbaord support, coop mode.

That game is older though, but I think GOW should follow in its footsteps and also add more modes to it. Just my 2 cents.

The most brutal takedown in this game is what it did to the "movie game" argument.

Dayyyyum! This game is huge. It's definitely going to be a 10+ million seller. Looking forward to NPD numbers, GoW has always been a NA beast.

Wonder where the people saying it won't outsell Uncharted since the series has never been as big as Uncharted are at now. The only other PS4 exclusives I can see possibly outselling God Of War are The Last of Us Part 2 and Spider-Man.

Why do you asume they are done with the game?

Horizon got DLC 1 year after it came out.

I'm sure they will add something, like extra story or the challenges from the old GOW games.

Phil days whatever to cover for his failings. Anyone remember, we only show games that will release this year, because they have nothing to show. Xbox Rabid Fanatics all over the internet started repeating Fill Sphincter like a Borg Drone.

@Ant_17: I did not assume that, that is why I said RTR is older, pretty sure it added all those modes later, and I think GOW should do that too because the base game is great, not knocking GOW for that.

The base game/world is great and hopefully they can add more stuff like RTR to keep players coming back to it. These big budget single player games are not as popular as they once were, So when there is a nice one that comes along like that, they should do their best to keep adding more stuff to it so it keeps players coming back to it over time.

We did talk about Labo pounding away at Kratos in Japan. Cardboard right up his butt over there.

That did happen.

Also, install base on that Mario comparison. Are we going to talk about that?

No, where are all those dudes who says the kid will ruin the game? That was the most complainers on the whole kid thing and now, look how this game turn out. The kid didn't hurt the game itself.

They changed the game a lot, so reservations about the combat and the kid were warranted. They proved everyone wrong, but when you take huge risks that's on them to prove that it works, not on us to go in with blind faith.

But then we run into to the problem most have.

Being sold a 60 bucks game that wasn't finished.

FF15 keeps adding content. The game is called unfinished, not fair that we need to buy a second season pass etc.

Yet Nier has 1 DLC that is pretty much an arena and that is just lame. And Cuphead has no DLC and is perfect the way it is.

Single player games are definitely not dead. I think Nintendo proves that with Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: BOTW. In fact, I often prefer a great single play game to a multi-player one. That's just me I guess. For example, as much as I enjoy the multi-player in say Halo, I'm playing it for the campaign/story.

I would be in support of adding additional modes or even additional DLC, as long as it doesn't take away from the SP.

But sorry, Phil. Single player games are alive and well.

Yeah but the revenue stream from MP games is ginormous. ATVI recently reported 4 billion made solely from microtransactions. No SP game can bring in that kind of revenue, especially with much less cost to the dev. If GOW sells 14 million lifetime sales or even more it still won't reach one billion made.

Not to mention it didn't take five years to make and didn't cost them, whatever GOW cost Sony, and from the looks of it that game was not cheap. Probably on par with a Marvel movie, 250 million plus to develop. Even more to market.

? TLHBO!!

Phil "No Games" Spencer would have you believe garbage like Sea of Trash is the future of gaming but Sony and Nintendo continue to prove that single player games are alive and will continue to remain relevant in the industry.

@KBFloYd Now you have your first GOW milestone.

I, personally, find that a lot of these "MMO-lite" style online sandbox games are lazy as shit cash-grabs where a select audience sticks around and pays for what they demand to have added to a game. You get a barebones skeleton of a game at launch and then shell out cash for DLC as you go along. The companies that make these games know there's a privileged few out there missing just enough chromosomes to fall for this crap again and again. Their warcry is "movie game" and "Why pay for a game you only play for a few hours?" ...As if games like God of War 4, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, and endless other offline games with metric tonnes of gametime just don't exist. Herp Derp.
