From skimming it, its bad because one of the biggest differences between Forza and GT series is the inclusion of damage. The GT fans downplayed with claims of damage not being neccesary and them actually not wanting damage at all to them saying they'd enjoy GT more without the inclusion of damage. Essentially they didn't want damage. Now from reading this thread they are praising something that they initially bashed and didn't want because it was on Forza and not GT.The__Havoc
I still don't see the reason for damage. I mean, at most, you'll bump into someone, but beyond that, its just for aesthetics. Most people will drive with more than just a damaged bumper, and thats because if you get in any other accidents, you are usually screwed. When I play GT, I usually don't hit anything, so damage really isn't anything I need. Like I've said, its awesome seeing the detail these guys put into these things, but in the end, it isn't a must. Though, IMO if they want to add damage, they should either do All, or None, otherwise it just SEEMS (doesn't mean it is) half - assed.

LoL, no. Just check the detail of this game, even the metal steering wheel reflects like it's supposed to.

"details" mean nothing if the game doesn't simulate properly...

Then why did you mention looks? Gran Turismo 5, looks a lot better than Forza 3 graphically. GT5 is a great sim, its improving on Gran turismo 5 P.

What's the point of cosmetic damage to the cars when you still bounce off the walls like Ridge Racer? It looks damn good, but let's face it, GT is for people who thinks a BMW M5 behaves the same as a Subaru Impreza. That's why most of us that used to play GT are now playing Forza, and will come October.

you guys spend way toomuch time arguing about which one is going to be better. All I see is a win, win situation here. regardless which system you have weare allgoing to get a high quality racing game. Forza 3 for me all the way, but in no way will I say anything negative of GT, that game will make any and all PS3 fans happy. :D

Enjoy everyone!

I wouldn't say a lot better, they are pretty much on par when in motion (hats off to turn 10 for doing it in 2 years time) but when i said that the Subaru replay video made this game look bad i meant it from a technical standpoint. I see nothing special...especially after such a long wait.

Nice first post.

Anyway, since when did GT's BMWs or ANY car for that matter drive like any other car? Last time I popped in my GT3 (last night while waiting for th MS conference) each car felt different.... sooo yeah.

Dare you to prove otherwise. Can you provide a link where Forza 3 has so much detail that the metal reflects on the steering wheel?

Damage not on all cars, I'm guessing production cars are on that list. Probably just race / rally cars will have damage. Fine with me, that's all I'll be racing with after a while.

Wow it looks incredible, but it was strange how the guy reversed into a barrier and nothing happened to the rear of the car, hopefully that will be fixed. Also kind of sad how I wont be able to smash up Lamborghini's or Ferrari's, but thats probably the beyond Polyphony's control.

For the people calling it an arcade racer GT 5 has more then one type of game mode. If any of you would have played GT 5 Prologue you would know in the advanced online races you can't even TAP the walls without getting a penalty. I am sure this is just the arcade mode of the game.

It's hilarious how fanboys claim this game looks better than Forza 3 using a off screen video, when a direct feed is shown, gameplay and content is going to matter again xD.

Then you're saying Forza 3 looks better than GT5 by looking at this offscreen video, because there is nothing else to base that off. Hypocrisy, gotta love it.

Is it just me...or was there only damage to that WRX? The white Evo slammed into the back of it and nothing happend to the Evo. Which makes me think that there will only be damage for the WRC rally cars? The white Evo was a production road car nota rally car.

Thoughts?

Think I'm stupid? You're obviously implying once a direct feed video is released, you think Forza 3 will look better judging by that video, and think GT fans will shift their focus to gameplay and content.

[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"]OK I watched every trailer so far. The damage is very impressive! Graphics look really good, but I honestly can't tell if it looks better or worse than Forza 3. These are off screen vids, aren't the graphics suppose to look better? Trees are still fugly as hell, wow . Other than that, the worst of my worries are now vanquished. Announce a track editor and It's a wrap for me. More than a wrap, it's a bundle :lol:zero_snake99

I will admit, this is damage control... buuuut

Forza 3's aren't any better..

I don't understand the whole wall bouncing claim. The way I remember Forza 2 was that sliding off the walls didn't do much damage at all. You could still drive at your top speed... I even used to glide off the computer cars. The only damaging aspect of Forza 2 was being hit hard in the back or front of your car. (unles you find a way to get rammed from the side)

Adrian_Cloud

in the video the guy's car got slammed from behind into a wall head on, and the only thing that happened was the hood flew up and he was still going faster than the car that hit him  That's some serious realism.

Have you played GT5: Prologue?

not only that...has anyone even gone back to play forza? i remember driving a 300ZX right into the wall doing 80mph and the only thing that happened was the bumper got loose.

Then you must have skid against the wall, a head on collision would knock your car out of the race.

Because going into a wall at 80 mph only makes the bumper fall off, right. The car is done, just stop.

He's lying about the finishing in first, but cosmetics he's correct. You can go into a wall at 80 mph in Forza 2 and your bumper will just fall of or your hood will dent. Cosmetically these damage models are by far more advanced than 2. We haven't seen much of 3 yet for me to make a comparison.

wait, the cars damage is great and all, but it doesnt appear to effect the cars performance at all. Hits the wall more than 5x, yet was able to go toe to toe with its rival..

Lets face it, neither GT5 nor Forza have "realistic" damage, but at least Forza has damage on all of it's cars and it can be a factor in a race. If you have the damage set to anything above cosmetic, the perfomance of your car is affected dramatically and it even shows a diagram of where the damage is. No, you cannot total your car, but good luck finishing a race unless you have an infinite amount of patience.

Too bad GT5 looks 10x better than Dirt and can still accomplish some fantastic damage modeling. I remember everyone saying GT5 would take a hit graphically if they add damage, that doesn't seem to be the case at all.
