Dang, this game is going to rule.

I hadn't seen some of those screens. Thanks for posting. The world looks so varied.freedomfreak
Yeah it looks great. The world seems to be very alive.
I would have posted all the screens there but it would have spammed up the thread. Should be noted too that these are likely console shots, so take from that what you will.
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]Graphics doesnot looks any good TBH. just slightly better than vanilla GTA4...Didn't see the new shots posted here so I thought I might pop a few in. Although I haven't gone through the whole thread

They look a helluva lot better than Vanilla GTA IV anyway, that game looks bad now.
Also they're console shots. So everything is low res and blurry. And it's not just the visuals that are worth talking about in these shots.
Calling it now, GTA, the only franchise to garner teh GS AAAA twice in a row in the same gen. :o
Well perhaps not but this suka does look very special and I'm fairly pumped for the game right now - I loves mah open world gaming!!! :D
[QUOTE="Xaero_Gravity"] I read his posts with a Borat voice and it makes me chuckle.freedomfreakThat's not bad actually. I read it in Microsoft Sam's voice, like from Arby 'n the Chief. I should try that. That reminds me, I need to start watching Arby 'n Chief again.
[QUOTE="freedomfreak"]I hadn't seen some of those screens. Thanks for posting. The world looks so varied.SNIPER4321Just cause 2 has same "varied" world. i didnot see anything new here.
Just cause 2s world is incredibly shallow. It's nothing but explosions and the civillians have almost no bearing on the world at all. In GTA you actually feel bad for running over someone because they react very realistically bouncing off your car. In Just cause 2 they have awful physics. JC2 is only fun for d!cking arounds. It's all flash with no substance.

I wonder how they will pull it off. They're just squeezing everything left out of consoles.[QUOTE="freedomfreak"]I hadn't seen some of those screens. Thanks for posting. The world looks so varied.SNIPER4321Just cause 2 has same "varied" world. i didnot see anything new here.
JC2 as fun as it is for mindless explosions is moreso copy and paste and what Sean&freedom said about it.
:o
I wonder what their connection during the missions isR4gn4r0k
From the GI article, Michael (rightmost guy) and Trevor (middle guy) actually know each others already. No idea about Franklin.
- Certain characters from GTA IV and Episodes From Liberty City will also make an appearance. Rockstar's Dan Houser says we'll never see characters from the PS2 era, though. "The five PS2 games are one universe, and this is the high definition universe, so they don't co-exist," he says.
LegatoSkyheart
Well you can go screw yourself too, Dan.
Was really hoping to see CJ come back.
Well he said this already all the way back in 2008 when GTA IV was revealed, besides they have very good reasoning for it. Those characters just exist in a different universe, its like the Ultimate universe to the modern GTA's Amazing universe (if you can understand the comic book speak).
They're larger then life and exist in a way that wouldn't really mesh with the current more realistic atmosphere, but they aren't flat out denying their existence, their stories are just done with and we don't need to beat a dead horse when every GTA game is huge and tells a story that begins and ends within its confines, we don't need CJ to return for no reason.

I think this 3 protagonists thing could really work.

Yeah, have you read the GI scans? They described a mission called "The extraction" in which one of the character, Michael, rappel down a building to kidnap a target (iirc thats what it said) anyway at some point you can either switch to franklin who's on a sniper rifle or keep michael and shoot down whatever is coming at you with Michael. (can't remember what Trevor was doing) i guess this aspect could bring a bit of mission variety like GTA IV's "Three Leaf Clover"
I think they also describe how you can switch to a character shooting from the behind the an helicopter, to the one driving said helicopter or the other one shooting with an assault rifle from the back of a car once again from the same mission, though you might wanna read up seeing i'm not 100% certain words for words.
Of course such new ideas for this raised many questions such as how will characters switching will be handled when you just wanna cause pure chaos. Will you be unable to switch characters when you're wanted? (would make sense, otherwise too easy and carrying wanted level to another character would make no sense) and many more things.
One thing i can predict is that the city will probably be fully explorable from the start.

Damn that sounds awesome.
This will bring such a huge dimension to the game alone and it's almost like a heist type scenario. Like a movie the way it can switch back and forth. Leave it to R* to blow everyone away and leave their competition scratching their heads wondering just how the hell they pull it off

There should be a link to the GI article somewhere in this very topic, look it up. The article mentions how heist is an important aspect in the game, seeing that money is what brings the characters together. Speaking of characters, once you start Michael will be in some rich part of the city (he does own a mansion and a tennis court after all) trevor is the drugged out psychopath kinda guy who start out somewhere in the desert and franklin will be somewhere in the suburbs, that's why i'm guessing everything will be opened from the start.
Maybe we'll finally get a heist type game mode in multiplayer when they get around to reveal it.

When it starts and goes "I am dumb because I can't say simple words", I realized how perfect it fits as the voice of people who can't type simple words either.

Also I should have added that holy crap this game looks absolutely gorgeous, with an insane amount of attention to detail. The motion blurring from the high speed jets is nice, and the computer screens inside the office as they rappel down is something I don't think anyone will notice but Rockstar went ahead and added in anyways.
I am excited for the next trailer, 5 days guys!
I think its too early to start speculating about the graphics. Yes they look like console shots but we've seen very little in motion. clyde46
We're still not gonna get a whole lot in the trailer either. Judging by their older trailers it will be more about little hidden details and just some cinematic shots rather than a representation of what it's like to play the game.
Remember that GTA IV trailer of Nico walking towards the camera as sh!t went down behind him.
I think the shooting in RDR was great and I hope they can make it just as great in GTA V. Love how they aren't settling and are trying to push the game forward. Heil68
I don't know how good the shooting is in Max Payne 3 but i'm sure they'll try to expandbased on the shooting from this game.

But that was shot all using the in game engine. Yes we arent getting an full look at how the game will play but we getting a look at the engine that will power GTA5.According to the game informer interview it now renders the furthest mountains and everything in the draw distance compared to the 1.5km from GTA IV.
I'm skeptical about that and i wonder how it well the overall performance will be.

Looks like they are using the verticality much better in this game. That's one of the problems with 4 imo. You are in skyscrape-city, yet almost 100% of the action takes place on the ground. The only way to reach the skies is helicopters, but there is nothing going on up there anyway. Was a missed oppurtunity. Sushiglutton
Very true. This is why Sleeping Dogs feels a bit dead to me too. They all missed that factor San Andreas had where you had all the ground and ocean as well as the skies. This seems to be true to form again though thank God.

Even then, GTA4 had a handful of missions where you needed to fly a chopper.

yeah. sleeping dogs is terrible game. i was impress by it first i played. but after that game feel so dry. terrible shooting and hand to hand is no better than batman. and story was laughably bad.Game actual good. Just not best. could been better. Terrible not.

A handful of missions is not the same as owning your own airport with a harrier jet or stealing a jetpack from Area 51 (or whatever they called it)
GTA IV tried to go the realism route and it just felt un fun at times. It was like they were afraid to go over the top again.
"GTA V preserves the mobile-phone concept, but you won't be getting calls from friends all the time."
...Game of the Forever.
Man, i can't wait, this is 100% confirmed to be the GTA that's going to surpass San Andreas in every comprehendable way. Finally.

Tho sad face on this, son. Tommy Vercetti was the best character GTA ever had.
From "oh man you can't play as a girl?" To "oh man, longtime characters from another universe voiced by expensive major talent whose stories were completed a decade ago aren't returning at all?" I feel like you people have the weirdest complaints.
It is telling of how awesome a game will be when that's the extent of it though.

Though I do think Rockstar has a habit of making all their protagonists complainers, it does fit well and add a little more depth. I don't think anyone wants to be a low level errand boy doing hits for the mob for small pay.
Luckily, Trevor and Franklin seem to really embrace the life of crime, Trevor in particular reminds me of Billy from The Lost and Damned.
No, you can him the boss. If TV has shown us anything it's that a lot of times the guys who want to be the bad guy are either just as if not more compelling than the guy who wants to escape the life. More Gus Fringe/Nucky Thompson. Please Log In to post.
