[QUOTE="Shensolidus"]Okay, the article clearly states (which is a past quote made BY MS back when they first announced the exclusive DLC) that Microsoft confirmed it would be 10 hours long. 10 hours of what? according to the Sam Houser interview conducted by IGN a meer 3 weeks ago, there isn't even anything DONE on the DLC yet. This is MS trying to pump up hype for their version, nothing more. Makes sense, this is the OXM afterall.Shensolidus

It is called an agreement between Rockstar and MS as to the length and value of what is being added.. It was speculated a while back ago that this was the case and now it is being confirmed that it will indeed be 10 + hours of content..

Anyone with common sense realises 50 million paid by MS for this content is not chump change for extra missions or extra weapons etc.. It will be a significant piece of content.

MS paid for more than just exclusive DLC with the 50 million. How about a multi-plat release? Yeah, the 50-mill sounds about right if you add that in. Btw, when it comes to creative content that isn't even in the planning stages (when the agreement was made) there was no way to determine the length of each DLC. It is impossible. The only way you could do is if you took 10 hours worth of content in the original game design and then packaged it as add-on DLC, which is something R* DIDN'T do because according to their executive producer that as of 3 weeks ago, the DLC was still on paper and no where near being fully worked on.

You sound uninformed, you are speculating alot of garbage by trying to include the DLC in with the Multiplat release. The fact is Sony didn't put anything at all on the table.

Microsoft already demonstrated with last gens Xbox that Xbox Live was a viable source of income and releasing content on it in the form of an expansion etc would generate additional revenue for Rockstar with out the production cost of releasing said material on an expansion disk.

Give it a rest if you are going to say something atleast back it up.

How much will it cost though, that's the all important question for me at least. Anymore than £5 I'm not payingthrones
Agreed. I'm guessing it'll be around the same price as the Oblivion expansion.

[QUOTE="NitaraPwnzU"][QUOTE="HAZE-Unit"][QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]

Why is it silly. If people here are saying that $20 for 20 extra hrs is milkage why is not rational to question those same people on why $60 for a 5 hr is not milkage? If both are great games what is the difference?HAZE-Unit

OK, according to their logic you are right, but Im talking about the whole experience, if this 20 hours didn't deliver like those of 5 hours then it is not worth it, I just want people to not get their hopes up.

Bioshock is example of what Im saying, people said it had 20-25 hours of gameplay, it was the worst nightmare I had in gaming, lol, really the first 3-4 hours were interesting, after that all of its weakness showed off, I didn't even finish it.

In your opinion. Not everyone feels the same way..

Matter of fact Bioshock was worth every penny and if you never finished that game I pity you for missing out on one of the best games last year, recognized by many many gaming sites.

No, not just my opinion, alot of people talked and created topics about how much of a disappointment was Bioshock.

And I don't care much for scores btw.

Anyways, lets get back to the topic, the DLC has no description so far, we really don't know if it is going to add a whole new story and city, or just repeated side missions for 10 hours, that all Im saying.

It is about the whole experience, is it something new? or is it something similar to what we are going to play for the core game?

No idea just going by what Rockstar said, which they have said that it will be definetly worth the asking price. So we will see.

I am not going to speculate on that because your right we don't know. All we know is that it is confirmed to be an extra 10 hours of gameplay.

True, everyone's experience is different, I loved Bioshock, I know alot of people didn't though.

Yup, the same thing goes also to Assassins Creed, I loved it and alot of people didn't, thats why people should care about the whole experience, not how many hours to play a game.

Nice to see you posting again though. :)

Buh, buh buh buh but the harddrive install and the precious space in the HDD!! NOOOOO!!! A lemmings worst dream in SW!

Well apart from joking, I've never been able to hit even near every single mission and only finished one main storyline in any GTA3 game, so I probably won't be getting this. It sounds like a pretty cool though for die hard GTA fans for 10 more hours each. I'm still unsure whether to pick up the 360 or the PS3 version, but my original plan was to get the first used copy that gets turned into my gamestop. Either way, the gaming experience should be the same in both unless stated otherwise in a future review.

At least the 50 mil won't go to waste. I think they could have made a brand new IP for the 360, but whatever works.

This game will certainly sell more software on the 360, but the hardware sells are gonna go to the PS3 in this instance.

Also, M$ and Rockstar better start advertising the DLC more than what they have been doing if they want to see it make a bigger impact on software sells.

Alot of people who probably are thinking about buying GTA 4 will probably know nothing of the DLC that tthey are getting 4- 6 months later. I think thats where it will fail too. I think the DLC content should have been added from within the box instead of waiting later to get it. This is also the only reason I can think of of why they haven't adevertised the DLC more also.

Speculating alot of garbage? What are you blind? R* is a developer who has ADMITTED to single-platform console development preference. OPENLY!!! How did MS prove last gen that Xbox Live was a viable source of DD income when the only noteworthy DD releases on Xbox Live LAST generation were the Halo 2 map packs.

Also, you don't have to be a rocket scientist or Michael Pachter to realize that anything DLC related that R* put out that was GTA related would sell regardless of the network it was available on. And if you want to go into technicalities and backing up arguments, consider this. From a technical perspective the only thing that could add a supposed "10 Hours of gameplay" guaranteed would be additional landmass. Releasing additional landmass for GTA4 over a network is nearly impossible. It isn't convential. The only thing they could release to guarantee 10 hours of gameplay would be additional missions. Additional landmass would restrict the DL to HDD users only, something MS has no interest of doing. And essentially a mission pack is the only thing people expect out of this episode, which isn't a bad thing. Adding additional story, especially with so much praise being thrown at this games story already, is a good thing.

Btw, it is obvious you are just hyping these '10 hours of gameplay' to make it seem so much more attractive than it really is. Episodic content you have to pay for, and wait for. Do you know how many people will likely trade in their game before the 2nd episode is even out? And don't gimme a 'you don't know when episode 2 is coming out' cause the first pack is coming out in August allegedly, putting it potentially 4 months from the titles launch. At that point, an argument of who cares can be brought up. Stop acting like the DLC is the make or break of this game for all gamers, cause the majority of the people who are buying GTA4 could care less.

Cheaper by $50 only though... That's not a big difference when buying a console now, so I don't know about that.

I'm a PS3/360 Owner and I'm still getting the PS3 version, but I have to admit it's pretty sweet to those who are willing to buy downloadable content. I make a habit of not buying anything that should of been included on the disc.

Is it really? I thought it was priced at $350

Plus if they see GTA 4 (game) plus PS3 for $399 I think they would go to that other than

GTA 4 ( with DLC) $60 plus 360 ($350). Brings up another thing also. They should have bundled the game with the 360. Then the race would be different.

Shensolidus

Adding 20+ hours of game play is significant regardless if you want to admit that or not. Your comments up to this point has been defending that no one cares.. LOL obviously you do..First of all you have provided not a single fact to back up anything you posted.

If you do not care why bother posting here? LOL it amazes me when people like you try and dismiss that "ANY" added content for this game is not a factor. I do not care whether you care or not.

I am happy to have the choice to buy it or not. If it turns out to be crap.. Guess what? I don't have to buy it. But I have the option to buy it. And if it is all that it is suppose to be hyped to be. Guess what I have no problem parting with 10 or 20 bucks, the same way I had no problem with the Shivering Isles pack which you seem to have forgotten.

Your aregument about being a HDD release would not suit MS is pretty lame in that again you speculate but your argument makes no sense given the scenario of how oblivion played out. Sure MS did not have a stake in obvlivions release but I garrantee you more people have 360 premiums then arcade or core systems.. Regardless to be on live you have to have an HDD anyways.. Yet another flaw in your logic.

Dismiss the DLC all you want. It is not going away and 360 owners have a choice something you obviously do not .. It is ok.. I think your attitude more then shows your bitterness as opposed to simply stating that it is not relavant to you.

Wow, 10 hours each, that's like 2 full games! I rather have 2 GTA IV related games, than 2 new exclusives upcoming games that can end up like Manhunt or Bully which were good games, but not GTA great!

Of coarse it will be missions.. But what kind of missions, how much story is added and what else is coming with it is yet to be determined.

I do not care, 20 + hours of extended game play is pretty damn cool.

It's amusing to see the anti-360 spin machine at work. There's no way to cut it, 10 hours of gameplay per episode is a huge plus to anyone that even remotely likes GTA. I paid $20 for Shivering Isles, and it was well worth it. I have no problem doing the same here.

Heck Yeah! The size of San Andreas and Vice City all right!

NitaraPwnzU

The article said it was missions actually. And SA and VC weren't 10 hours long :|

Of coarse it will be missions.. But what kind of missions, how much story is added and what else is coming with it is yet to be determined.

I do not care, 20 + hours of extended game play is pretty damn cool.

Not main storyline as well, no need to get super excited. Might be cool, but in the past Rockstar had stated they're doubtful about delivering content as DLC. But I'm probably not buying it anyway, I barely do any of the missions anyway apart from unlocking the map. And with multiplayer, the need for extra msisions seem minimal to me. I'll hold final judgement when exact content is given though.

WOW - Nice !

Almost as sweet as candy pie - 2 weeks till I can get started on this one but it's feeling like 2 months.

The 360 version is the superior version but this information now makes it head & shoulders above the PS3 version IMHO. :D

How does DLC make the game better? I mean i own both systems and im getting the PS3 version. I dont care much for the DLC.

Cows don't like DLC, they love milk. :P

Paying for aditional content = milkage

Buying games that only last 5 hours and paying 60 bucks for = Milkage

your mixing milkage with rip off shadow run was a rip off

The same way Shivering Isles made Oblivion better. It extends the game and adds more content. If the game turns out to be the best GTA yet, which based on all the previews from various sites, it will be. Then extending the fun by adding more content makes the game better.

If you don't care about the dlc, good for you. Those of us that want the extra content, I am all for it as long as it is worth it.

No I am not..

I will agree shadowrun sucked.. No aregument there.. but at the same timeHeavenly sword having 5 hours of game play is also a ripoff.

Charging people for extra weapons and extra unlockable content is Milkage. We know EA wants to milk you for all your worth.

Adding content that extends the story and game play is added value and not Milkage.

I am not going to go into the whole GT5 Prologue argument because that is exactly what this is and yet I do not see cows saying one thing about it.

How much will it cost though, that's the all important question for me at least. Anymore than £5 I'm not payingthrones
Most games don't last ten hours and yet you won't pay eight bucks.

Around 10 hours each? I know which version I'll be getting. Only delusional fanboys would spin this into something negative. I don't know what they will be priced at...but it'd be a good bet to say they'll be under $30 (I'm guessing $15 a pop). Pretty sure that is more content than Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and R&C combined for way less money. No offense, I own those games and like them, but I can see why PS3 fanboys are upset.

What can I say? I dislike Microsoft's DRM's policy and don't want to keep anything on the 360 HDD that is important. I have an external HDD to backup my Steam data but 360? No such luck.

i love to see how cows r trying to justify teh ps3 version by pretty much acting like the 20+ hrs of additional gameplay is no big deal or a hassle. it should be expected that you pay for dlc wen it adds that much content. the 360 is gettin the most complete version no matter which way u cut it, thus they r gettin the best overall value. end of story.

I agree, there is really no reason to spin it. 10 + hours each of added story and gameplay is well worth 15 bucks. I have spent 60 bucks on far worse games, and I know Rockstar is not the type of developer to throw up trash that is not worth the price that is asked.

I am confident the DLC will be worth its value and then some.

Exactly. If it's priced too much, I would never buy it. If it's set reasonable, then I would buy it. Don't really care about DLC for this game. This game will take a long time to finish, then it's off to multiplayer/causing havok in LC :P DLC is a good option though. Hope the PS3 gets something of the sort. I know it will, but I mean like extra mission packs not cars or **** like that.

not true watch. 10 hours for extra money, to a game with 100+ hours of game play ant much.

It takes longer than that to collect hidden packages. Haven't we all learned by now any quote of hours it takes to do something is completely meaningless. I'd say %95 chance it's going to just be side stories from other characters viewpoints. No new map or anything really good. I'll still probably DL it though.

I expect the MS Advertising War Machine to kick in this week and next week. Don't be surprised if you walk into your local gamestore to see signs stating as much. I also expect to see some MS commercials for GTA. It is inevitable that it will happen because MS already spent money on the game.

I will just be happy when the 29th gets here. Lets see the core product then we can all yearn for more content after we finish it. :D
