Unfortunately, that little line right there just destroys your entire argument. It's pretty clear even to yourself why Halo isn't on par with many PC shooters..because console shooters are always many steps behind in terms of innovation (you emphasized this with that line.) Halo 2 is a solid 9.0 because its MP is great. SP sucked but I will ignore that.... Far Cry was amazing because of its open ended gameplay and if you disagree you're odd... And if you try and tell me that another game has repeated what Far Cry did only better than I would like some good evidence. Other than that, there is no reason why the game has lost any ground in terms of score. It's story always sucked, its MP always sucked, therefore the only thing that could get worse was the gameplay and it hasn't.... It's still extremely fresh.

Now before you all go jumping down my throat let me explain. The first Halo was widely accepted to be just as good as Half Life. (Even GS said it in a video review) Halo 2 was easily one of the best mutiplayer games ever when it came out, and Halo 3 surpass both those games in all ways. The reason why the Halo series is hated on so much is quite simple actually, it's the reason why emo music is hated on so much these days: because of popularity.

And the reason why Halo games are so popular is because of the quality. This has led to countless elitists who bash Halo games whenever possible because it's not a 10 year old game on the PC. The reality is that all Halo games have done a lot for console shooters.

And before someone brings up really old games, keep in mind that those games might have beengreat for their time but they are out dated in ever way possible compared to Halo 3.

No no no no.... Halo 1 was 50x better than any other halo combined. I am sorry but you are wrong. Halo 1 imo is better than any other fps on the market. But other than that Halo 3 doesnt come close to any of the great pc shooters.

Sorry, please explain in full detail why Halo 3 is superior. If sales mattered, World of Warcraft is the best RPG ever made which many people detest. If score mattered, Tony Hawk 3 is superior. The original Halo innovated with many ingenius designs, two did not and neither did 3 (Equipment, dual wielding, vehicle jacking all existed before...except for the Spartan Laser I guess).

I really don't think you know what your talking about. CS is one of the most played online games ever. It's a mod. Team Fortress added dozens of hours to quake, and I've played about 50 hours of insurgency.

Theirs you good MP, and your lasting appeal, in Mod form.

Natural Selection is an Half Life mod and IMO provides a much deeper multiplayerexperience then anything I played in the console. Depth, teamwork, innovative,two totally different sides but balanced, fast twiched likegameplay, RTS elements integrated into the game giving it even more depth and many more.

Gamespot's reviews ARE the opinion of one person. On top of that, nobody is truly "unbiased" ..everyone has preferences, everyone is uniquely conditioned to recieve different games in different ways.
