dude he's been around for ages. He's Yo_Foo. The new "Deadman" But Yo_Foo this thread isn't over yet... Gears of War and Halo are both different games. Gears isn't a FPS. So how can you say if they buy Gears they'll buy Halo.

[QUOTE="PowerCharged"][QUOTE="TemplaerDude"][QUOTE="PowerCharged"][QUOTE="TemplaerDude"]Amazing. 1000 response thread over something like this? Halo 3 is already successful. Your thread fails right from the start.

your fanboy logic fails. how is a game thats not even out successful already :|

Don't call me a fanboy. It is a success by the simple fact that the previous two were groundbreaking success' and oh, in case you didn't notice, there is a huge legion of fans for the series. Halo 3 will easily break or come close to breaking pre-sale records and will probably almost as if not more successful than the previous game in first day sales. It's simple LOGIC.

a lot of stuff have legions on fans and still manages to flop. grand tourismo use to sell over 10 mil each iteration but guess what? number 4 onl sold about 7 million:wink: mgs2 sold like 7 mil but last i check mgs3 only sold about 5 mil

exactly. But the game will be unsuccessful on gameplay because of the lack of innovation and originality. :'(

Final Fantasy: 13. Or rather - Final Flop. That should be the slogan that Sony should run with for the latest in its One Hit Wonder - Final Fantasy 12.

Now don't get me wrong. Final Fantasy was a good game, although a little over rated, and fulfilled itself as the only official PS game worth buying the console for (although it came out on Xbox360! Bad move). It developed tactical combat and developed a good fanbase for those interested in that kind of thing. It had satisfactory single player content which was good solid fun but also applied the use of tactics like in the missions.

Then enter Final Fantasy 12. To increase Final Fantasy fanbase, they decided to dumb the game down for those who don't have the time for tactics and made the game just a full on flop with limited tactics and cruddy weapons. Yes Final Fantasy' 7 weapons were far superior.

And now Final Fantasy 13 which promises to be a rehash of Final fantasy's 12 style of gameplay to keep these gamers who don't like to think that much and just think (the types of gamers who thought Rogue Galaxy and Kingdom Hearts were Gods Gift to Gaming) and still keep in pretty well the same style as KOTOR only without the jetpacks. Plus the same repetitive nature of the game will drastically annoy fans of the original and soon enough people will just ignore Final Fantasy and remember it for what the series really is - A One Hit Wonder, much in the same vain as the Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out" and the original Rocky film.

Mass Effect is the Final Fantasy killer for this generation of gaming. No doubt about it.

:'(

what are you on about? We all know that FF has more originality in the series than Halo. That's why FF would never be unsuccessful :'(

Jesus Christ, you have a very deluded view of the world. So let me wake you up from your ludicracy, here's how the world works: When a game sells 500,000, it is a success. When a game sell 1,000,000 it is a success. When a game sells 5,000,000 it is a success When a game sells, as you said, "only" 7,000,000, it is a major success. I'm sorry to have to say this, but ALL of the games you listed were incredibly success'. Please PLEASE stop thinking you know what you're talking about. Also notable is that none of the games you listed match up in Halo's hit caliber. This is a game whose sequel was so anticipated it broke single day entertainment records and easily sold hundreds of thousands (if not more) Xbox's. I am not saying those games are not good, nor am I saying that Halo 3 is an awesome, incredibly game, I am saying Halo in it self is a franchise which commands a following and hype train that will AUTOMATICALLY make it a success on day one of PRE - SALES. Please, for everyones sake, get your head out of your butt. That goes for all of you, including the thread starter.

a success in sales but successful in living up to gamers expectations? :'(

[QUOTE="PowerCharged"] im sorry but you have a very deluded view on the world. so lets say you you make 50 grand a year but for some reason had to move and now your next job is paying you 25 grand a year would you call that a successful business decision:|:?. im not saying that 1 mil is not successful but when a game use to sell 10x that amount and now its barely scratch what average or generic games are selling than you know there's a problem. i guess if GTA4 sold like 3 million you would call it a success:roll:

you do have a strong point indeed. anything under what they sold for Halo 2 would mean not a success :'(

I'll wait and see, because at the moment. The only people who think RFOM is better are PS3 fanboys. And if RFOM was a Halo killer, why is Halo still so hyped up and why aren't PS3's selling out. Probably because RFOM isn't a killer app. Halo alone sold the Xbox systems. RFOM has not.

How did it flop on scores. The original got near perfect. Halo got 9.6 as an average by critics. Halo 2 got an average of 9.5 by critics. Thats a 0.1 less. Somehow i don't think thats a flop!

halo wouldnt of sold so many copies if microsoft didnt force it to be packaged with basically every xbox sold...if u wanted to buy an xbox u could only  get it with a copie of halo attached. and i no alot of xbox owners that didnt even like the game so the fanbase isnt as BIG as its made out to be( about 7-8million copies were sold) that dont mean theres that many fans, id say take away 4-5 million(the ones that ended up with a copy because they purchased an xbox *cough* forced* Cough*) and ur left with a fanbase no bigger than the ratchet and clank series on ps2

Coming from a Sony fanboy, it's expected to have them compare something like the Halo franchise to the Rachet and Clank franchise. Hmmmm, i suppose because there packaging Gears, or Ghost Recon with all the 360's now. Their just shoving that down our throats too and all the critical praise they get means nothing!

The fact of the matter is, everybody knows that the Halo games are extremely overrated, even the people who like the games. They weren't anything special from the beginning, and when compared to computer games, the multiplayer (and single-player) components were outdated. Not to mention, the supposed "innovations" weren't really innovations at all. Halo 3, however, is very popular, and saying that it won't be successful is just impossible.

I more or less agree with you. Halo 2 i was not a big fan of. The online multi i never really played. The co-op is where it's at. Halo 1 was indeed special to many because it raised the bar for console FPS. When compared to PC's at the time it's not that amazing. But much like Goldeneye for N64, Halo raised the bar of what a FPS should be like. Just like Gears of War. It hasn't really done anything highly original, it just shows what that type of game should be like.

Yeah it wouldn't have sold as many copies as it did. But because they bundled it with the XBOX it kept a constant stream of the sales of the game coming through. Strategic thinking. :'(

And now Halo 3 which promises to be a rehash of Halo 2s style of gameplay to keep these gamers who don't like to think that much and just shoot (the types of gamers who thought Doom 3 and Prey were Gods Gift to Gaming) and still keep in pretty well the same style as Tribes only without the jetpacks.  Plus the same repetitive nature of the game will drastically annoy fans of the original and soon enough people will just ignore Halo and remember it for what the series really is - A One Hit Wonder, much in the same vain as the Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out" and the original Rocky film.

Resistance is the Halo killer for this generation of gaming.  No doubt about it.

RFOM has not. dr-venkman
Actually RFOM has sold PS3 systems. But the PS3 doesn't need a single game to move its systems. It's got a whole bunch to do that for it: MGS, FF, Gran Turismo to name a few. :'(

[QUOTE="yo_foo"]Halo: Combat Evolved. Or rather - Combat DeEvolved. That should be the slogan that Microsoft should run with for the latest in its One Hit Wonder trilogy - Halo 3.

[QUOTE="jacjase"]halo wouldnt of sold so many copies if microsoft didnt force it to be packaged with basically every xbox sold...if u wanted to buy an xbox u could only get it with a copie of halo attached. and i no alot of xbox owners that didnt even like the game so the fanbase isnt as BIG as its made out to be( about 7-8million copies were sold) that dont mean theres that many fans, id say take away 4-5 million(the ones that ended up with a copy because they purchased an xbox *cough* forced* Cough*) and ur left with a fanbase no bigger than the ratchet and clank series on ps2dr-venkman
Coming from a Sony fanboy, it's expected to have them compare something like the Halo franchise to the Rachet and Clank franchise. Hmmmm, i suppose because there packaging Gears, or Ghost Recon with all the 360's now. Their just shoving that down our throats too and all the critical praise they get means nothing!

no they are trying to flog a NOW dead horse. :'(

i think u mean xbox systems sold halo not the other way around(if u wanted to buy an xbox u could basically only get it as a package with halo

Didn't you just say that? Lets see, when my friend bought his Xbox. No Halo. When i bought my Xbox. No Halo. When another friend bought his Xbox. No Halo. You're logic makes a lot of sense...

he means later on. Later they packaged it in their Monster pack (could have been australia only?) :'(
