rather dissapointing to be honest for a game that is 10 years old. it should be running at 60fps and native 1080p but instead we get choppy 30 frames and 640p. 343 should be ashamed the game doesn't even look that good, in fact much worse than 360 launch titles and those games ran on only 1 core lol. although real-time engine change is something iv'e never seen before.

Most of the games that run at 60fps are sports games or racing games with an extremely controled camera. CoD hasn't had a major graphical upgrade in 4 years.

Nothing wrong with 30fps on the consoles. 99% of people can't tell the difference anyways.

Read bolded part. And I actually don't care or pay attention to what games are 60 FPS, if it's playable, then that's fine by me.

Come now, I agree that 30 fps is fine in most cases but your bolded comment just is'nt true at all, even if it's meant to be exaggerated.

Its a remake, not just a resolution upgrade like GOW collection. The game is running 2 engines AND sports new HD textures and lighting. Its not the same as the other remasters. People need to understand taht.

99% please don't trow around numbers to make console gamers feel stupid, while it's true many casual players can't tell the difference there are many who can spot it. Sub HD in this game is sad, it should easily be 1080p, even Halo 3 should have been 1080. if Ragecan do graphics at that level at 60 frames then no excuses, just lazy coding.

come on people those 2 graphics engines use like 40% of 360's power, it should not be difficult to do real HD.

Have you seen the grpahics? This isn't just a 1:1 port of the graphical renderer, it's a whole new engine. They are also adding the ability to go back and see the original game with a click of a button (a really sweet feature).

Oh yeah. 8)

but seriously 30fps is just fine. But I wonder why they're using halo 3's resolution instead of halo reach's 1152x720 res.

How do you know that? Did you help develop the game? Do you know how much resources it takes to run 2 engines at once? PS3 games run at Sub HD in 3D mode because the game is rendering the scene multiple times, is that also bad? Come on dude..........

if you watch the video it dips below 30 frequently, although it's not the final product so we will see.

It's not as if the game even looks good. Looks worse then COD.

that feature is cool, but honestly 360 launch titles look better imo, also no AA has been done on the original.

So what you're saying is anything below 30 fps is choppy.

Games certainly need sincere help from motion blur below 30 fps. Stable framerates are also important for the fluidity of an experience of course.

Edit: While switching to the original graphics is a neat feature, I think it's a bit of a wasted effort.

The Monkey Island: SE games do this (although strictly in a cosmetic sense) and it is kinda cool. It's just not something you do much and hardly worth the dual engine occultism 343 is partaking in.

The game looks fine, and it switched between the newer HD look and classic mode. What exactly is the problem, because there isn't a problem.

That's pretty amusing, people hate on HD remasters because all they do is upscale to 1080p and make it 60FPS, yet the remake that's supposed to be better ends up sub HD and 30 FPS, and sometimes dips below that lol

Most of the games that run at 60fps are sports games or racing games with an extremely controled camera. CoD hasn't had a major graphical upgrade in 4 years.

Its not lazy coding just design choices, Im pretty sure halo has always been sub hd so they could make better use of the EDRAM for the hdr lighting.

That's pretty amusing, people hate on HD remasters because all they do is upscale to 1080p and make it 60FPS, yet the remake that's supposed to be better ends up sub HD and 30 FPS, and sometimes dips below that lol1stPlaceWinner
remakes look better than HD remasters so what's your point exactly?

[QUOTE="delta3074"]oh god, not another armchair developer, 30 FPs is fine for consoles and some of the best looking games including crysis 2 are sub HD.delta3074

but crysis 2 pushes the xbox near limits, Halo ann not so much.

and you would know because obviously you are a well renowned developer who has developed a load of games on the xbox 360,amirite?

i give up, i guess people are satisfied with 640p. let me ask you a question what looks better Halo remake, or Perfect Dark Zero?

That's disappointing. I don't see what's so special with with the visuals that the game has to be sub-HD or limited to 30FPS. When a game like Gears of War is 720p and 30FPS and looks way better.

You're the one yelling lazy coding when you have never once programed graphics on the 360 once in your life. You have absolutely no idea the kind of constraints that are put on programmers developing on the consoles.

if ANY game on consoles were running 2 engines it would take a performance and resolution hit. End of story dude. How can you say 3D takes power to run, but not consider that running 2 game engines might (and does) do the same?

I know plenty of gamers that can tell the difference. But they, like myself, don't care.

As long as the frame rate is generally stable, there's no problem. A fun game is a fun game, regardless of the pixel-counting.
